so is the "You must cut your mp3 if you're using less than 80% of it." rule outdated? Because if it is all of the diffs are between 77.5 to 77.9%

I might just be reading the rule wrong but the intro does count towards that 80%, but the outro doesn't. so just based on the percentage of the song over at the last note (since the intro comes before the song and is included in that too) all of the difficulties fall at about 79.7%, with aka's hard falling at 79.5% and Kyshiro's insane falling at 79.9% I think I already posted a time to cut the mp3 to that would still cause it to cut out after the music fades and would also get the shortest map to be over 80% in this case.

So what's the reason you don't want to map the ending? It's normally mappable.

Bubble popped because there's no explicit explanation on why you didn't map to the 80%.

As I mentioned before cutting to 02:02:888 would just remove some silence at the end and put every diff above the 80% mark.

Consider the mapping with rewards. cYsmix made it clear he didn't want people to map the outro because while it COULD be mapped, it just made more sense NOT to map it. It's a nice little outro to play during the results screens.

Now consider this song; it's almost the same thing tbh. You COULD possibly map a bit of the ending but it won't add to the song in any meaningful way. And it won't add to the map because it's at best a slow section. And the few ways that it COULD be mapped to aren't very appealing when you think about it. What do you map to? the 1/4 synthy instrument on a slow section? the 4/1 (or 8/1 whatever) holding instrument for over 15 seconds? Sure there are a few ways that it could be done but it's just not as good as leaving it unmapped regardless of how you look at it.

At the same time it makes no sense to cut the mp3 any further because it ends on a nice resolution with the fading guitar near the end. It isn't laziness it's just music interpretation. Frankly the whole 80% rule is absolutely silly and should be revised. This thread is a good example of why this rule is imo ridiculous

Anyway I'll leave this to aiueo. Worst case scenario cutting the mp3 a bit more shouldn't be too hard.

The percent mapped is 78.32%, so I really do not see the issue. According to Aiceo, the purpose of the outro is to provide a music for the ranking panel that fits very well as it introduces a synth that was not heard in the song eariler, as well as coming out slow and giving a sense of completeness to the end of the song.

Edit 1: I completely agreed with his reasoning. Also, he claimed that he tried cutting it in other spots and it decreased the overall quality of the song.

SALTY SALTY. I thin the mp3 is cut perfectly find. I have found the best spot to cut it with a nice fade out. Cutting it somewhere else would ruin the outro. Making the fade faster would also ruin it.

It was mostly a reply to stjpa.

I just feel a lot of songs have a 8-16 bar intro and outro that usually lead into the "actual song" if you will, so this rule really plays against that as shown in Naitoshi's example set. Personally I feel this rule should be revised hell 75% or even 70% makes a bit more sense to me than 80% when you consider the way most music is composed.

oh, thats fair! didn't consider the possible issues with cutting too close to the fade out. I really want to see music/mapping like this ranked, so I was just making sure there wasn't anything wrong in case someone else brought it up once qualification came around.

The rhythm is fine to be honest. It might be a bit tricky at first but it's repeated as many times as the song allows. I made it easy to understand starting at 00:18:595 (1,2) - and the rhythm repeats twice where you pointed out. The multi-repeat slider is not as tricky as it seems. In play, doesn't show up until players are already playing (1) so it shouldn't be so surprising that it will be multi-repeat as shown in the screenshots 1 2

The second point is similar to the first. Edit: I'll change it tho cuz arguably the drum is stronger than the other sound. I've taken the GD to a few newbie multi lobbies and had some noob irl friends testplay it and I haven't seen many ppl miss there tbh.

it's not fine at all, there's not reason to put it on the blue tick when the white tick is clearly dominant, it's just incorrect snapping and unrankable, the part you linked sounds completely different from this one

the multi-repeat slider should be changed too, you overestimate the ability of beginner players, they will only expect a repeat once and will be too slow to react to multi-repeat which will most likely throw them off

if you're referring to the second point however I don't mind changing that one as much cuz the drum is a bit stronger so I can change the rhythm
