Everything here is a recommendation. Feel free to ignore whatever you feel is unnecessary. Stuff marked in blue are very minor things that I only put here because of my OCD that probably won't even make a change.

[Hard]

Most of the problems I found with this map were related to spacing. Remember that this should be a diff mainly intended for lower skill players, so some of this things might look unimportant to you, yet you should consider them anyway.

00:14:549 (1,2,3) - The spacing between these is bigger compared to the rest of the pattern for no apparent reason.
00:22:375 (2,3) - The spacing between these is bigger compared to the rest of the pattern for no apparent reason.
00:26:102 (1,2) - The spacing between these way too low and could be confusing.
00:40:450 (2) - Ctrl+G
00:43:059 (2,3,4,5) - I don't hear anything that could justify these being stacked two at a time.
00:55:543 (5,6,7) - Consider making the stream 5 notes long instead (the 5th note being the slider).
01:21:444 (7,1) - Maybe reduce the spacing between those a bit?
01:23:307 (1,2) - Increase spacing between those a bit.
01:24:052 (4,1) - ^
01:23:680 (2,3,4) - The low spacing could be confusing. Try Increasing it.
01:24:611 (1,2,3,4) - ^
01:28:338 (1,2,3,4) - ^
01:34:301 (1,2,3,4) - ^
01:35:233 (1,1) - These feel very tricky to hit, especially considering the white tick before hand is a slider end. The spacing also makes it rather dense. You should either make 01:34:860 (4) - two circles instead or make 01:34:674 (3,4) - a slider and the white tick a circle, and perhaps make 01:35:233 (1) - a stacked stream instead.
01:43:059 (2,3) - The rhythm between those is confusing and "messes" the rhythm afterwards. Try having a 1/1 slider starting at 01:43:059 and a 1/2 slider starting at 01:43:618 instead.
01:44:363 (3,4,5,1) - I don't hear anything that could justify these being stacked that way.
01:51:816 (2,3,4,5) - Try increasing the spacing between those.
01:52:934 (2,3,4) - ^
01:54:611 (4) - Make this two circles instead, or make 01:54:425 (3) - a slider and add a circle afterwards.
01:55:916 (4,1) - Try increasing the spacing between those a bit.
01:56:288 (1,2) - ^
01:57:779 (3,1) - ^
01:59:456 (1,2,3,4) - Try reducing the spacing between the slider and the stream.
02:20:139 (5) - Try rotating the slider in its place to make it horizontal.

This went out nazier then I intended >_>

Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

00:43:059 (2,3,4,5) - I don't hear anything that could justify these being stacked two at a time. Slightly changed pattern to follow vocals better.
00:55:543 (5,6,7) - Consider making the stream 5 notes long instead (the 5th note being the slider). It will be much better indeed.
01:21:444 (7,1) - Maybe reduce the spacing between those a bit? Slightly modified slider too.
01:23:307 (1,2) - Increase spacing between those a bit. Intended.
01:24:052 (4,1) - ^
01:23:680 (2,3,4) - The low spacing could be confusing. Try Increasing it.
01:24:611 (1,2,3,4) - ^
01:28:338 (1,2,3,4) - ^ I'll comment on all of the above together, it is meant to be like that, with anti jumpers and relatively small spacing the kinda increases, because this is the "calm" part of the song before the second chorus.
01:34:301 (1,2,3,4) - ^ The spacing is fine, part of the wanted pattern, but after looking on it closely, I decided to remove the last slider and I made something slightly different since the previous pattern didn't fit at all.
01:35:233 (1,1) - These feel very tricky to hit, especially considering the white tick before hand is a slider end. The spacing also makes it rather dense. You should either make 01:34:860 (4) - two circles instead or make 01:34:674 (3,4) - a slider and the white tick a circle, and perhaps make 01:35:233 (1) - a stacked stream instead. Should work better after the change I made in the previous note.
01:43:059 (2,3) - The rhythm between those is confusing and "messes" the rhythm afterwards. Try having a 1/1 slider starting at 01:43:059 and a 1/2 slider starting at 01:43:618 instead. Changed the second slider to 1/2 slider + 1 circle
01:44:363 (3,4,5,1) - I don't hear anything that could justify these being stacked that way. Deleted 4, it should follow the vocals properly now.
01:51:816 (2,3,4,5) - Try increasing the spacing between those. Intended
01:52:934 (2,3,4) - ^ ^
01:54:611 (4) - Make this two circles instead, or make 01:54:425 (3) - a slider and add a circle afterwards. Changed to a triplet (that actually exists), much better.
01:55:916 (4,1) - Try increasing the spacing between those a bit.
01:56:288 (1,2) - ^
01:57:779 (3,1) - ^
01:59:456 (1,2,3,4) - Try reducing the spacing between the slider and the stream. Remapped the whole section, damn ^
02:20:139 (5) - Try rotating the slider in its place to make it horizontal.

Holy fucking shit, I think I saw the same map replay over and over too much and I couldn't see those stuff with my eye, just looking more closely made me find out more stuff that I had to change, phew.

Edit: I should note that I've changed a pattern(s) in ROLLING STAR, I felt it could follow the song a bit better.

  1. 01:00:015 (6) - NC? cuz you can hear a downbeat finish 00:59:270, and you changed the space too.
  2. 01:02:251 (1) - add finish

  3. 00:42:872 (1) - I am pretty sure using a 3/2 slider with one reversing will be way easier than an accurate pattern at 00:43:804 (2,3) - . Remember, this is an Easy diff, not a Normal so how about just easy things? Then also you could place 00:44:363 (2) - that circle at the same XY axis position as 00:42:500 (3) - this one.
  4. 01:32:438 (1,3) - Pretty sure it would be more spectacular and entertaining to place a new combo at 01:35:046 (3) - instead of here: 01:32:438 (1) - You know, the guitar riff.
  5. 01:44:363 (2,3) - Um... Suddenly instead of 3/2 like patterns you're using straight 1/1 circles which is suspicious and provides a bad spread in the easiest difficulty. Just look at the same moments in terms of rhythm and I think you'll understand what I mean:

  6. 02:00:388 (1,2) - To be honest I'd rather expect you to stress the vocals since they are more powerful than the beats (IMO). And I'd understand you doing it if only there was no spinner at 02:01:879 - which just cuts the moment off. Now it just causes a trouble for the player because it's just not as consistent as it should be. I recommend to extend the spinner so it ends like right now, but it could start at 02:00:388 -
  7. 02:06:351 (4,5) - if you CTRL + G this moment you'll hear the subtle difference which sounds better. Simply, I'd love to see the slider at 02:06:351 - and then a circle at 02:07:468 - so it's easier to follow the music.
  8. 02:13:804 (6,1) - Swap the placement of new combos to keep clear comboing.
  9. 02:17:903 (4,5,1,2,3) - Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell... Just make it rhythmically like *THIS*.

After internal discussion, we decided to disqualify this set for the following reasons:

[ROLLING STAR]

  • Spacing:

    Generally, the difficulty has arbitrary spacing - it does not seem to follow anything as the spacing increases along with the decreases seem very random and not well thought out. I'll point out few examples for you here:
  1. 00:11:568 (1,2) - These start at the most powerful beats in that pattern, yet they have the smallest spacing in the whole pattern, making the emphasize random.
  2. 00:16:040 (1,2,3) - It's better to keep the spacing consistent; there is no real reason to decrease it randomly like that.
  3. 00:24:239 (5) - ^
  4. 00:40:450 (3,4) - ^
  5. 00:52:375 (5,6,7,1) - ^
Patterning:

  • There are patterns in this difficulty that look aesthetically sloppy, unstructured, unpolished and random. Furthermore, since the spacing varies among the patterns a lot, it creates unnecessarily jerky plays. Few examples here:
  1. 00:08:959 (2,3,4,5,6,7) - Rather messy, as it doesn't have visually consistent spacing to them.
  2. 00:40:264 (2,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6,7) - Generally, a really messy pattern due to the spacing changing almost between every note, making it awkward to play.
  3. 01:41:009 (1,2,3,4) - The pattern itself looks very random, considering that the jump from 01:41:195 (2) - to 01:41:382 (3) - is beyond inconsistent in terms of spacing, and the music doesn't call for such a jump. That results into a bad transition from 01:41:382 (3) - to 01:41:568 (4) - , creating an awkwardly flowing pattern.
Snapping:

  1. 01:31:879 (1) - This is incorrectly snapped, instead of it being snapped to 1/16, it should be 1/6 instead.
Overmapping:

  1. 00:53:121 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,1) - This is overmapped. As you can hear yourself, the blue ticks do not support these additional notes. Please follow the music more carefully.
[WhiteAries' Insane]

Generally spoken, the difficulty contains a lot of arbitrary spacing, considering it changes at random times where it should stay consistent; that makes some of the patterns appear as unclean and unpolished. Furthermore, all the overlapping that's going on make the difficulty very clustered and tends to make few patterns play awkwardly. Take these as examples for said criticism:
  1. 00:13:059 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) -
  2. 00:14:736 (1,2,3) -
  3. 00:15:854 (5,6) -
  4. 00:17:158 (1,2,3) -
  5. 00:17:903 (4,5,6,7,8) -

Same kind of issues appear here as in the Insanes; patterns feel unstructured and unpolished, spacing feels random among patterns. Moreover, there are sliders that could be easily be polished to be more appealing, but look unpolished at their current state. Few examples of these things:

The difficulty has inconsistencies in the spacing. While it does not affect the playability much, it does affect the visuals and because of that, it might appear as unclean. Examples:

I'm sure it's not the reason it gets DQ, Asphy posted a snapping issue, enough to get it DQ.

Contest it via beatmap management board if you have unsatisfied issue (T&C, make sure you read).

Very interesting, unsnapped notes when even AiBAT didn't show anything when I was checking it before qualifying. Can someone explain me how QATs find unsnapped notes, please?

Hello we have looked over the disqualification for this set, the current disqualification will stand for these reasons.

1.While the normal, easy, and hard in my opinion are more or less fine. They can do with some polish! Is the a strong enough reason for the disqualification to stick not at all, but it would improve the overall look of the map set. Most the issues brought up in these diffs are subjective and with in reason could be ignored.

2.While the other diffs are in the clear, the last two insane diffs are in major need of repair, the rolling star diff has far to many things going on in it it is like a car with removed tyres fitted with a sail and a jet engine and expecting it to fly, drive and swim even if all the disconnected parts are functional they don't add up


3. The guest insane is also suffering from something like this but is more fitting to call it a collab that isn't really a collab, the problem here in this diff is that there are too many concepts and ideas clashing against each other it hurts the diff more than helping it.

4. My suggestion is to take the advice for the disqualification reasons on the guest insane and your insane diff respectively, changing the easy normal and hard is up to you! Alternatively you could also just make fixes to your insane and remove the guest or remove both your call.

Even if I remove the GD, I am not going to be able to rank it because of the difficulty gap between Hard and ROLLING STAR.

I wouldn't mind modifying Insane and ROLLING STAR a bit to fit the comments on the disqualification, but I still stand by my opinion that both difficulties are fine, if I am in need to overhaul them completely, ruining their 'personalities', I'd prefer to let this set go to the graveyard.

Any opinions are welcome, I will update here if I have any change of thought.

the rest just looks too linear and unpolished for me.
01:19:021 (8,1) - almost parallel but not parallel? doesn't look good
01:29:083 (1,2) - horizontal sliders look kinda... old school? idk doesn't look good to me.

at first when i read ztrot's comment about "looking like a collab" i kinda laughed, but now i agree.
There are parts where i really liked and then parts where i absolutely hated.

random quick opinion on Rolling Star

While I disagree with the example of the car that has weird parts in it which expects to fly, the map really has inconsistency issues. There isnt really any kind of "spacing" in that diff. Sometimes it's a big jump, sometimes it's a small jump, then there are random 2.0 DS -> 0.5 DS esq parts where you could just go with 1.2 -> 1.2 or something. It doesnt feel ready, it feels like a draft, as other QATs have said before in other threads.

As an random example 01:01:506 (1,2,3,4) - - Why is that section spaced like it is? There's a consistent 1/4 time ... uh ... signaturethingwhereyouputthebeats, but you make it look like 1 -> 2 has a longer break than 2 -> 3 -> 4. These things should be spaced equally.
01:40:636 (5,6,1,2,3,4) - This section is complete bleh as well. You have to speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down in a rather anti-fun way. Worst part about this is, that this is basically >the map<. The complete diff consists out of these types of jumps, which is not ... like, no, not good.

Somewhat ontopic but actually offtopic but idk maybe this helps
I randomly did this yesterday when we talked about jumps in a Skype group. This might help you a little bit in understanding how jumps should be placed to feel good/play good. This repeats itself a few more times in the diff


Then there's also random stuff like 00:53:493 (6,7,8,9,10,11,1) - - why isit wiggled? There isnt any sound that sounds wiggly, which makes this appear random.

  2. 00:13:618 (4) endpoint to 00:13:804

  4. Moving 02:12:872 (4) to 02:12:686 then adding another hit circle to 02:13:059 (5)

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, HELLO EVERYONE.

It is time to push this again, I went thorugh Hard, remapped many parts of it and renamed it to Light Insane.

As for the Extra, I am planning to do the same, I will finish it tomorrow or somehow today.

Also, WW's diff stays, it is great in my opinion, uniqueness, creativity, great gameplay, it has a clear structure and it's fun.

00:12:686 (3) - you can ctrl g this, it flows good, looks better with 1,2 and it is distancing 4 which i think should be more emphasized because the vocal intensifies.
00:21:630 (6) - i think facing the middle anchor to the other direction will be more neat and it will make the flow better imo.
00:23:121 (3) - stack
00:26:288 - i really don't think you should skip this vocal, it really stops the flow and the momentum, imo you should place another circle stacked to 1 here.
00:30:947 (5) - nc?
00:51:630 - is it really mandatory to put a spinner here? the chorus' vocals are gradually increasing to the peak of the chorus, a spinner here is a bad idea imo.
01:26:102 (1,2) - fix blanket
*you decided to emphasize 01:44:363 (3) - instead of 01:44:549 (4) - ? why? no explanation is needed here i believe.
