At least I think rejected players should get an explanation
B-but is this a good idea? Just hope there won't be any spies on the streamMr Color wrote:

That'd be very nice. It's a shame that countries like Russia, Japan, Ukraine or other countries with good players are not representedpeppy wrote:
I would definitely like to see more countries represented, and have already discussed with loctav about extending the entry period to make sure those that haven't yet registered can.
This wouldn't change a thing.peppy wrote:

Japan didn't understand or didn't want to participate and Ukraine wasn't motivated.Kurai wrote:

Well when you have the motivation you're able to find players (Please, Ukraine has 10 players in the Top #4K), or to find "time" (hey the whole NL team doesn't have the time, although all the other countries can register, really ?). And come on, there are like 300 Japanese who are able to play in the TWC, don't tell me only ONE of them understood the rules...OnosakiHito wrote:
The motivation is absolutely there (@Arrival) but all of them have either too less players (e.g. Ukraine), misunderstood the rules (e.g. Japan), don't have time (e.g. Netherlands) or their players got retired (e.g Russia). Some didn't even know about the TWC since they missed the information. So it's less about the motivation and more about the other things.
Kurai wrote:
No need to debate on the "why", just give countries a second chance to participate so that we have a good TWC. And I don't think anyone would be proud winning the tournament if Japan is not represented :p
I guess you're both right. But I'm still wondering when will we have the justification for why we have been rejected ? It has been 2 days I sent an e-mail, and I still don't know what I did wrong. But as Loctav said, I must be lying...OnosakiHito wrote:
I guess Kurai is right. I just wanted to show some transparency anyway, not debating about it. lol
So Japan wasn't proud of winning last year because no Taiwan team ? Taiwan has a better TWC history than Japan (2wins out of 3participations), people tend to forget that and think Japan is some kind of superior entity that cannot be defeated while it's not.Kurai wrote:

when i see your pp rank, your taiko rank is #16,890 that still far- Korean Kiwi - wrote:

Only with a 4v4 TWC, which depends on the number of registered usersMMzz wrote:
Could we have an 8 player cap instead of 6?
So you want to be sure there are enough back ups, but don't want to increase the limits ?Loctav wrote:

Yeah, I realized that I dropped to that rank...Niko-nyan wrote:

But the maximum 6 players in the team will decrease the risk of getting a win by default.MYRKUL wrote:
I think 3 backups is too much for just 3 players. Maybe with only 1 backup we could gather more teams where the entire team plays. This could even able 4+2 teams
Please, go and make a team of 4k ranked players than suck in group stages, it's funny, isn't it?Arrival wrote:

Is this the reason why we only have 16 countries in? well that's sadPagliaccio wrote:

In that case let's make only one final with JP and TW to decide who will win this TWC. No ?
It's because of people like you if this tournament is stuck with 16 countries or so. If you play with the top #4K you can go to the RO16 easily, but Mister Pagliacco's ego looks a bit too high and overdeveloped to play with 4K players.. That's sad...
Oh btw the #6 in Ukraine is #1300. But still too noob fo you huh ?
So nobody should be able to participate then ? Because even with 3 Pagli in your team you would still not be able to win the tournament, so it wouldn't be worth playing either ?Pagliaccio wrote:
If you gonna play TWC "just for fun" - go and play MP then with noobs.

But yea, what I meant was pretty much what Nashmun said
More people, even with 1k and +, means more fun for their equals
We already know high rank players will be stronger (you can't deny skills ofc) but I don't see nothing wrong in having a little fun before they take the spot
I already tried to tell him that. But no, looks like I'm just an asshole KappaTasha wrote:
I don't get that line of logic. OWC is played for fun as well. There are several teams that join knowing full well they won't be able to win even if they do make it to the finals let alone semifinals. I'm playing TWC knowing full well it'd be pretty much impossible for team Canada to beat France or Japan (assuming they registered now), but I'm still going to play because it lets us see how we stack up against other countries while having fun.
You can still be competitive and have a good time while not expecting to win. Having a mindset that anyone attempting to do this shouldn't be playing would mean tournaments would never exist, because most of us know who the teams are that will win.
Not my goal to flame here but I feel genuinely sorry for your country if you aren't participating just because you won't win. That isn't the spirit of the tournament and you're only making the experience bad for yourself and others from your country who could otherwise enjoy the tournament and have fun.

Sorry, wasn't sure if i could participate but registered right before regs closed. I probably took a position that could have potentially been yours ;_;jdshark wrote:

Letting 16 of 23 (~70%) teams pass makes a group stage obsolete, as it serves to "prefilter" before we enter the actual load-heavy double elimination stage.Nashmun wrote:
Wow, why can't we have a regular 16teams brackets ? As for the three options I have no special preference but whatever you chose make sure you seed the teams before drawing.
Why not based on the three main participant instead ? That mean a team with 3 people ~#200 would be higher seeded than a team with 3players ~#100 and backups ~#500, which seems pretty odd to meLoctav wrote:
The only objective seeding would be determined by the average raw pp or average global rank of the entire team. Personally, I planned to seed the teams by the average raw
I say the third one is the best. So people will have to care about other groups too, not just their one.Loctav wrote:
As it stands now, we have 23 registered rosters. Since this is an odd number, we have several way of how to structure the group stage.
Generally, letting 16 teams pass seems weird due to the low amount of competitiors. As we plan to only let 8 teams ascend to the double elimination stage, we have these options figured:Let me know what you guys like the most.
- We form 3 groups á 6 teams and 1 group á 5 teams, whereas the top 2 of every group ascends.
- We form 6 groups á 3 teams and 2 groups á 4 teams, whereas the top 1 ascends.
- We form 5 groups á 4 teams and 1 group á 3 teams, whereas the top 1 ascends + the best 2 2nd places across all groups.
I know That, but you cannot encourage people to have "backups" in their teams and then penalize them in the seeding system for taking more players than the strict minimum.Loctav wrote:
There is no such thing as "main participant". The idea or term of "backups" has been abolished 2 years ago. Everyone is an equal member of their team.
I have to agree with XavierJones.XavierJones wrote:
