1. I was bad at osu! standard so I tried the other modes: mania was the one I had the more fun to play.
2. 4k, but I want to improve my 7k too :?
3. Default, so DFJK and SDF [SPACE] JKL
4. Since August-September 2013, but I was only playing auto converts till April ._.
5. Tough choice there... I'd say MuryokuP - Catastrophe by Entozer even though it's not a 4k map
6. Streams are just Kreygasm
7. Solo for performance, multi for fun (with kewl people)
8. Staiain, best 4k player in the world probably EDIT : DARKNESSREMEDY
9. LeiN-, Spy, Kuo Kyoka
10. Most of ranked maps are fun, but I'll go with unranked : there are SO MANY good unranked (including not submitted) good maps
11. Is that a real question..? Of course not.

1. Saw Candy Galy (one of my favourite 4K maps) here so I decided to start playing this
2. 4K because that's the only one I can play correctly
3. LShift Z / RShift, it would be ZX./ normally but my X key is starting to die on my kb after a year of keysmashing
4. Sometime in February this year
5. Chain De/struction or Blue Meteor I think
6. Long streams without awkwards patterns (anchors, minijacks etc)
7. Solo, MP is usually spent waiting for people with terrible internet to download and most of what's played is stuff I don't have :/
8. Staiain, because 4K speeeeeeeeeed and also because he's a really chill person and isn't hardcore competitive and got to his level by having fun instead of grinding
9. For 4k, LeiN-? not too familiar with mapping styles because they all look so similar lol (well the 4k ones at least). Staiain I guess if he makes more stuff (or converts more of his stuff wwww) Agka goes here for 7K too
10. Unranked with some exceptions, a lot of the ranked maps right now are really bad in terms of chart quality and aren't hard enough for me to have fun playing
11. I like the game and concept, ranking system is bleh, and ranked maps are BLEH but it's fun to idle in #osumania or something

I like 7k the most :)

I think it's a year now.

5. Which osu!mania song do you like the most?
I don't like any osu!mania songs specifically, it depends on the chart!

6. What is your favourite type of patterning?
No favorite types of patterning (It depends on the music)
If it makes sense and is fun to play, that is good

7. Do you prefer to play in multiplayer or solo?
Multiplayer, osu is a really good social game. I play almost exclusively multiplayer, if no-ones online to play, then I would just log off.

8. Who is your favourite osu!mania player?
No-one in particular, but there are many people I respect and many people who I'm friends with which are good. No favorites though.

9. Who is your favourite osu!mania mapper?
Agka and Entozer

10. Do you like to play unranked or ranked maps?
As long as they're mapped well, any are ok. But ranked maps are kind of bound by the ranking criteria and fear of 'overmapping' whereas unranked maps are more free and aren't restricted. The most fun maps are unranked, but generally, the ranked maps are more fun.

11. Do you like osu!mania? :)
It's good enough to keep me playing! Though it could be a lot better.

1. beat friends in other games tried this to beat them, osu standard i found myself unmotivated in tried mania and it clicked

2. favourite keymode is 4k , i enjoy 7k bms a lot though

3. 4k: weui 6k: asdjkl 7k: qwe space uio (odd for 7k but seems to help me o.o)

4. somewhere from 1 and a half year to two years, i procrastinate practise too much so im still nub i think

5. no favourites 8hr+ game sessions mean i need a lot of variety o.o

6. single note streams in 4key, chord stream comes after that

1. Because 7k is similar to o2jam, and I enjoyed o2jam and stepmania a lot before moving to osu.

2. 7k, I also prefer 4k over 5k/6k/8k.

3. I use SDF HJK for 7k. L blocks J and K from working, so I moved over one key.

4. Since Osu!mania came out.

5. Favorite Ranked map: RYO - Shuffle Heaven, Unranked: rerulili - Nou Shou Sakuretsu Girl.

6. High level o2jam charts, so extreme LNs, shields, and overmapping.

1. Fried my moms laptop and my dad's pc couldn't run standard over 30fps so I played mania because it didn't slow down my fps.

2. In a battle between 4k and 7k, 7k takes my pick.

osu!mania community is probably the least anime community out of all the modes though imo haha

I know but I get the feeling that std community is more about
"help pls i have 3k play count and i should have x pp but i don't have so will i become cookiezi, pls help i want more ranks"
than anything else. :)

So I like mania community because few people care about pp and just enjoy playing the game.

I'd rather play fun superhard unranked maps, this is why i play all ranked ones on DT cause it's not really challenging to me without

I'd play it more if it wasn't for the input delay and framedrops, it feels choppy and awkward no matter how much i tweak settings so I'll say o!m is okay, I play it cause of the community, not the game itself haha

1. I used to play O2Jam when I was 4th? grade. One time during robotics club meating, my teammate showed me osu! and I was like "Hey! I know that game!". And so I downloaded osu! at home and I started playing osu! std, then I saw there were other modes, so I went and played them. Ended up playing mania until now since it's like the old times (online O2Jam, I only get to play O2Mania now).

2. 7 key

3. Used to be S D F (space) J K L, had to transition to S D F (space) Num 4/7 Num 5/8 Num 6/9 (depends on keyboard, I use 7-8-9 right now since I almost destroyed my 4-5-6 buttons) to fit hand.

4. Started playing mania last late December 2013 or early January 2014

5. Shoujo - Reminiscing, Double Universe, Bounce, P*light stuff, Agka maps.

6. Trills and/or Trees (Bride in Dreams type of pattern) (LN for the lulz!)

7. Multiplayer, as long as I play with people within my skill range. D:

8. Entozer (or some noob that's quite inspirational/I can learn from.)

9. Agka, no doubt (hands down)

10. Both, since there are also better unranked maps.

1. i had played stepmania/openitg for a long time before i found out about osu, so when i saw that osu!mania was a thing, i went straight to it

3. it was qwop, but my w key is screwed up, so i use askl now

11. It's good, although I still prefer Lunatic Rave 2. Playing osu!mania feels awkward sometimes (not really sure why). Also the song selection and diversity in LR2 is just amazing.

1) I performed poorly in regular Osu and I've played piano, so Osu!mania fit well.
2) Lately, I've preferred an 8 key setup.

I'd prefer a good multiplayer room over solo play any day, sadly there aren't a whole lot of good rooms. The majority are too easy, and the rest are too korean.

1. started playing because i saw that it existed in osu!test and i've always desired a mania game that both supported 4k mode, worked similarly to stepmania, and had an expansive online ranking!

No. While I like the fact that it encourages competition due to how accessible the leaderboards are in the game, but the 4K map selection is incredibly limited in the upper echelon of the game, which is what I generally play both in Stepmania and osu!mania. The hardest maps (the likes of Air Raid, One More Lovely 1.5), while they fulfill their purpose of being difficult, are generally not enjoyable to play due to how forced the difficulty is in most maps. DoubleTime does work for a couple of maps, but not many. I would love to see more ranked or unranked hard 4K maps that are hard because the song calls for it (i.e. musically relevant), and not because the mapper intends it to be insanely hard. It doesn't have to follow the intensity of the song precisely, I think AiAe [Wafles' SHD] is a great file; that's mainly because the difficulty isn't overly forced, despite its additional layering. I think that would attract higher-end 4K players a lot more than it does now.

Oh boy... 4k or 7k? How about I say 8k. It needs MUCH more ranked maps, and I have a hard time finding any (even non-ranked).
I can do up to 3.4 star 8k as of right now.

I prefer solo. I often need to restart to adjust my speed, which is not something you can do in multiplayer.

There's still tons of room for improvement personally, but I can probably say that I enjoy the game more than I used to. An integral part of rhythm gaming would be the maps, and while there are some silly maps at the top, most of them are usually playable and not really filled with cheap difficulty a la absurdly fast jacks or unhittable patterning. There are some pretty good very hard maps, despite most being SM converts. The ranked map selection needs work though...

The gameplay is good for what it is. I would like the HitPosition to be modifiable up to the decimal points, I feel that one HitPosition is too high and another is too low, despite having a difference by 1. Noteskin has no note snap by default, but I know it's under works at the moment. I can imagine this game getting really really good with some tinkering here and there, so I'm definitely looking forward to enjoying this game more than I used to.

It's been about nine months since I did my first response to these questions, thought I should re-do them haha.

1. I was playing regular osu! with a friend, just starting out, and accidentally downloaded a mania map and asked my friend what this weird guitar hero gamemode was. He told me mania and I was hooked. I haven't stopped playing, really. Maybe once :p

2. 4k all the way bb

3. DFJK, but I find that QWOP works fairly well too. On 5k I use DFJKL (J is special key)

4. About 2+ years ago maybe? Probably went tryhard about 1.5 years ago.

11. Of course. I wish the community was better at times, but I will always love the game like nothing else. It's played a bigger role in my gaming life than I care to admit most of the time, but I do love the game. I spend lots of time all in the name of self improvement as a player.

4k, 5k, 7k, trying to like 8k and I totally hate 6k, because I mess up with the two middle notes

My favourite songs always keep changing, but I think I'd choose Crack Traxxxx, by Lite Show Magic, from SDVXII

Stairs, the simple ones please. xD

I love multiplayer but there's never rooms with good songs, and I don't like hosting very much so I end up playing solo.

There's a lot of people I respect in this game, for instance, Ideu-, Tomboki, nowsmart, Staiain, Skalim, etc.

9. Who is your favourite osu!mania mapper?
I don't have one.

10. Do you like to play unranked or ranked maps?
Mostly ranked maps, but there's many awesome unranked maps that should be ranked, Miracle 5ympho X, Dragon and Girl and Decoherence, and M.AM.A. for instance
