DJPop's maps are now very popular :D
Nakata Yuji
Anime Boston maybe?
RandomJibberish
Wow this is awesome. Great work on the cabinet and the arcade software. I want to play it, lol~

I've been working on a totally original arcade game called !uso for several years and hope to release it soon.
Nakata Yuji
The only problem is that touch screens don't quite lend themselves to deathstreams.
Pokebis
Oh yeah well...
That's really awesome. There's some things I'd like to know.
Firstly, what were the most popular songs and what set of songs did you have on the machine?
What kind of people played it and how good were they generally?
Did you meet any osu! players that you know here online?
Were you overwhelmed at any point by the people?
And lastly, I know this should probably go into the suggestions section; have you ever considered a multi-touch version of osu! and the ability to make stable multi-touch maps?
Oh, also were any osuers brought up in conversation perhaps? It would be weird to talk about us here IRL.

I'll see what I can do, no guarantees though

Throughout both days, there was a constant stream of people playing osu!, and I can't remember a single moment when the machine was NOT being played!
This is not surprising at all. This game brings a lot of fun when playing, so people wanted to try. And they were right :)
This is a great success for osu!
Congratulations, and thanks peppy :D

This is awesome.Just...awesome.

If osu!arcade's finished, bring it to asia *coughHKcough*
would be great, especially when osu! is still quite
unknown in HK.

Alright. Just curious, but what position do you hold to be able to pull the strings for this?

osu! arcade. Yay :).

But just wondering, would anything bad happen to osu! if iNiS found out about it...? If not, then it wouldn't hurt to try and promote osu! more than it is already :).

I don't think iNiS can do anything. I'm more worried about the audio owners.

There are some legal issues, I'm sure.
Randy96
That's pretty cool. It would be nice to see osu!arcades being used at real arcades.

Then that could promote osu! online and :)
Man, those Marisa streams must have been hard.

Ooh, yeah, that too :o

In the first video, I saw the guy trying to play Marisa streams.

I was like, "He is so going to fail. xD"

That's what I thought too, but was impressed that he made it as far as he did. But of course, one always needs to remember that the key to kick slider streams is HOLDING them, not just clicking. x3
nzcy
Awesome,and exciting.

:)
Vanmonky
When will it come to my place?
skiki_old
rofl, gg.. this should so get into the arcades.. lol (:

what's the specs of the monitor?
Roddie
Awesome work, peppy! :) Hope this goes well later on in the future. Congrats! ;)
Chaos Anime X
Amazing!

How much does a good tablet like that cost? maybe not as large(cost)
I'm interested in buying just a tablet to hook up to my PC and play Osu! :)
Frog
Wow thats just amazing!
I'd love to have played it.
Koko Ban
w0w! this very much looks like DJMAX Technika. but i wanna try this one still.

a second screen for the spectators should be added too.

Koko Ban wrote:

Actually, what I think would work better would be a projector focused on the wall behind the table (less need to crowd around a small space).

Well, peppy, I'm impressed. After I actually have money and can start getting some of the stuff I want, you should probably expect a request to have another built. :P I like it. It looks like it plays really, really smoothly. I also wouldn't mind bringing one of the arcades (or who knows, maybe more) to Otafest one of these years, and maybe Animefest in Edmonton if I ever go (dang three hour drive), as well as likely other miscellaneous showcasings elsewhere.
Lilac
I actually want to know what songs peppy actually put in the showcase of osu!

Assuming he didn't put all of the ranked maps in there...
jmaeshawn
That looks really cool!

I remember they had osu! at Sakura-Con 2008, but it wasn't nearly as slick and streamlined as your setup, peppy. (about 5 computers setup on a table, played with mouse, with winners judged by rank and combo - no multiplayer then)

Hope it shows up at more cons in the future :)

Why was I never contacted, and why are there no photos?!

Koko Ban wrote:

Already planned - didn't have enough time/resources this time.
RemmyX25
If anything, I'll see if i can get something at Bakuratsu-Con up by me next year. More hope there than at Anime Boston, but if someone manages to get Anime Boston in on this, I will definitely help out.
YoshiKart
Congratulations, peppy!
osu! is growing at the rate of its scoring formula. :P
arien666
Umm...
Very nice stuff, peppy :3

Anyway, I hope that I can play this stuff on S.Korea someday :3...

Keep going XD
SuzumiyaKyon
Wish I could've had a chance at it. It looks awesome! I've always wanted to see osu! get some exposure in a con somewhere, so this is great! And I hope you can get that down here someday!
ichikam
i can certainly vouch for this being even more fun than it looks.
and the best bit is that the elements of a map which make it fun are different from those which make a map good for pc (eg. on a touch screen, the bigger the jump the better.)

Because my camera sucked and took only pictures that looked like big blurry blobs...

As for why they didn't ask you, I don't know. :(

Anyway...
Did you think any feature things?(such as epic system)
I wonder some epic systems :3
Hruhf
I knew I should of went! Oh well, what's done is done. Are you planning to do this next year?
mekadon_old
Add hell-ish songs as unlocks and stuff~~~ Like Usatei, StrangeProgram, YaHVeH, Yawaraka or whatsoever.
I'm not pro at osu, but I'm willing to go
Zekira
Yawaraka
Haha...
[Sean]
Hmm... Peppy, get in contact with Animania. That convention racks in thousands of people over the two days it runs in each city. Just have someone who's traveling with the convention to monitor it and make sure it doesn't break, or get damaged.

IF you can have it do with Animania, you scored over 50,000 people checking it out. And 6 of those would be some Melbourne idiots that go every year :D
Wojjan
The more I look at that third picture the more that guy becomes the Australian Rolled.
Sigel Wynn
you need more songs on that. and a 'how to play' some people there did not know how to play.....
Nice shot of cassuis there......hahaha
Kitsunemimi
Haha people trying to beat Marisa. I can imagine Kanbu and Lemon Tree.
MrRaginginferno
I was there Peppy! So you were there... Man, that osu arcade was the greatest attraction at Wai-Con! Keep em coming!
gp0_old
Perth is a bigger city than you think it is. It's just about the size of San Diego, if San Diego was proportionally 20% bigger. Or about the metropolitan area of Providence, RI (which includes Southeastern Massachusetts).

Anyways, 3,400 is no small tally to snuff at. I'm guessing that well over a 1,000 came over to your little table, cramped around having a good time. Hey, do you think you'll be able to travel anywhere this year? We have AnimeBoston in April, they got around 15,000 attendants last year. New York Anime Festival in September held 21,000...
Hanyuu
GREAT !!!
nardii
Lemon Tree would be fun :)
EnigmaXVII
Omg this is epic, I'd LOOOVEEE to play osu! arcade.
Anasakura
would be great to Osu! this in Peru hopefully some day it will be ^ ^,
Nakata Yuji
If this was to work out better in the future, I think a setlist of songs without streams would make this more suitable to the average player. I don't know if triplets would work well, but if there's two fingers, it might be possible.

That was me failing hard @ Marisa :? (had not played the map in a loooooong time either).

The short sliders are more difficult than they look on the touch screen and the multi-touch works quite well for the faster beats. I think passing would be possible with 4 fingers instead of 2.

:O! I just figured out how to make osu! arcade at home!
(random-ness)
1. U MUST HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN MONITOR.
2. Make a cabinet to fit the screen.
3. Download Songs.
4. All wires etc. are placed in under the cabinet. (the bottom of the cabinet has holes)
5. make sure it turns on
6. make sure osu! runs
7. enjoy!

I tried and it worked :D

A TOUCHSCREEN MONITOR omg!!!!. wut else are you going to use >_>
Sup A Noob
For some reason I found the touch screen monitor method so painfully obvious... But either way...

Bring it to Singapore, I'd just LOVE to try my hands on that machine, though attempting Marisa or the other one would probably pose "some"...problems.

Edit: Saw "randomness" in touch screen's post. Removed "not to offend".
Kim Jin Seok
Wow!

Awesome work! O_o
Yingwu
If this ever comes to Holland i so wanna go there! and especially if there's an extra option to play Taiko mode :D
mekadon_old
Ask your arcade owner to get Taiko no Tatsujin
End of context
I prefer only osu! and CtB.
Zekira
Wait a minute.

No one told me it had Marisa in it (...of course I don't expect that magician to pop out of the box. You know what I'm talking about >_>)...

Now it's an absolutely major DO WANT AAAAAAAAAAAA

Yes this is EXTREMELY late but I've not had internet for a long time, since before Wai-con so eh... It was fun playing osu! on the machine... And that person was you peppy? If I had known I would have said Hi... and complimented you on your game or something... Wai-con was awesome, but seeing the osu! machine was probably the highlight for me (also the Disgaea Cos-play and bean bag-busted Mikuru mousepad, why didn't I buy it when I had the chance argh...)

It was good seeing the Arcade thing, and apart from all my favourite songs not being in it and kinda being rushed with all the other people who wanted a shot (like my friends)... but yeaaaah... was interesting but made playing with mods harder... I'd love to give it another shot but then that's not exactly likely until next Wai-con if you've any intention if having one at the next one.

Again, sorry for the bump, but I've not had a chance to be on the internet at all for 4 months and need to catch up on things, and this is super-awesome-important... to me atleast...

Now I have obtained internet again all I need is to re-obtain a computer fast enough to run osu! at more than just a crawl... ahahaha... >.<

I maybe able to get it to supanova, not confirmed yet though.

I think I had to use a touch screen I need to use 2 hands XD two fingers might be a total fail for me.
DJNightmare
yay another singaporeans!
jojobii
OMG this is the best place I ever saw.

I could do that every day with a touch screen computer :)
Un4got10
wow O.O!
i want it!
how much does it costs o.O ;)
i'm joking... i believe in future of arcade osu ^^
osu rulezz!
Eddotan
hey it seems to have fun! ^^ i wanna be there ;_;
Hakeru
how nice..
wanna try..

hope that arcade come to indonesia lol 8-)
Yasa
This is a REALLY late thought xD

If I recall correctly, spinners didn't have to be spun, just flicked.
Does anyone know if that's correct?

That is you didn't need to keep contact with the screen continuously spinning it, with a flick it would keep momentum or something like that...
Legalist
Congratulations, peppy

Wow so cool, I wish we had one here, I would definitly use it alot ^^

mekadon_old
As far as I am concerned, releasing osu! in arcades are possible, the main problem is the music copyright though. I'm lazy to check this in the earlier pages anyway.
ShaggoN
Besides costs, you need to have some skills to make it. It's not in stock production you know. x3
Sorun
It would be amazing if this became a popular arcade game!

Will have photos and hopefully some video footage up later on!

Met up with Jarby, Luigi4444, PanStrife and Wiynn (all osu! players before the con). Probably a few others too, so if I missed you, please give me a yell! Next year I hope to have two arcade systems and organise a head-to-head tournament, so expect much :).

You missed me!

Almost every time I played it would crash tho...
Yasa
You forgot Glennjibear too, you know, 7 foot tall... beard... hair... not videoing himself...

And with the news of that potential tournament I am going to be there... even if I have to kill someone to make it... make there be some awesome prize like... a free life sized osu button... perhaps as big as the bell tower? THAT'LL WORK.

No but seriously, looking forward to next wai-con (when I can actually be there...), tournament or not, purely for the osu! machine!
