This sounds like your mixing element versions or the skin isn't "whole" which is a no no... I assume your taiko skin is missing some playfield elements which it's choosing to use the new versions instead. If you are using version 1 elements then you will need to populate version 1 taiko elements for example ones found in the old default template or the taiko skin made by luigihann and many other existing skins.

I've been working on my new klonoa skin and when i went to test it out it just shows the template skin, is this the reason or am i doing something wrong?

I actually did something different. I changed score-marker into scorebar-ki, kidanger, and kidanger2, and it fixed both of my problems.

So ive for some reason, when i put Version: 1 into my skin.ini, it fixes my spinners, but it then misaligns my taiko part where it just overlaps. When i put Version 2.0, the taiko is fixed but the spinner reverts back to the original osu spinner. Help me pleeease oAo

if you want, you can just use the "spinner-top.png" file as the only spinner image (I mean the spinner-bottom.png is just blank then just edit the spinner-top.png file and I'm sorry that i can't help with the spinner-meter file :( )

For Taiko, it seems that using Taiko skin fixes the problems, but since you cannot download it anymore:

Ok, i need help. Since the last few updates my skin breaks more and more, now the song selection became unreadable too.

No matter of using Version 1 or 2, my song selection menu text is missalinged and nearly unreadable and the taiko elements missalinged. In version 2 my spinner dissapears and gets replaced by the default one.

EDIT; On that note, there a few unskinable ui things broken too.

This is only because the skin version is not the latest. This does NOT fix the taiko skin in the latest version

That is because they changed it xD Try to put the new Default skin and look the new Song Selection Menu.

it could be. at skin.ini, set "Version" to "Version: 2.0" then you can use the old spinner image as "spinner-top.png" and just blank the pixels of "spinner bottom.png".(as I said this already...I just wanted to do step-by-step) if you don't want the spinner appearing with double white frames, you can just erase all pixels of the "spinner-middle.png"(I DON'T mean to delete the file or it will still show up if you do) and use the old ranking screen files such as the graph, the "perfect", the score bar and anything that appears on the ranking screen. (just let me know if this answers your question or not... I may not be right sometimes :/ )

They said that we need to edit the Skin.ini for fix it. And you can get the actual Skin.ini of the Osu Default Skin Template. (The link that I've copied)

I'm having this problem too. I have six skins and changed all of them to "Version: latest." Half of them work perfectly; the other three have default spinners. I tried changing it to "Version: 2" and got the same result except the beatmap selection page doesn't display correctly. Changing it to "Version: 1" obviously fixes the spinners, but then the beatmap selection page has issues.

I like this update though i have a problem.
After remaking a few things on my skin my ranking-replay/ranking-retry skin stopped working, this only occurs when i have "version: latest" typed in skin.ini. The skins works fine when i remove "version: latest" from skin.ini. And "my pause-retry@2x" takes the spot of "ranking-retry" http://puu.sh/9eU3f/073bd19b7a.jpg, anyone else have this problem? anyone know how to fix it?

Edit: I've tested some more, it appears that this happens when you have two different skin models for ranking screen and pause screen, When I have "version: latest" in skin.ini osu! can't find models called "ranking-retry" or "ranking-replay". It works fine if you have the same retry/replay in both pause and ranking screen but i prefer to have diffrent models in these two places.

The same happens to my other skins aswell as soon as I type "version: latest" in my skin.ini and these skin I haven't changed anything in since the last patch.

Edit 2: typing "version: 2" in skin.ini has the same effect

I'm having a problem with reskinning my spinner to the new skin...

Ive looked through the things I needed and It keeps using the standard osu spinner (it hurts muh eyes T_T)

does anyone have a fix for this?

Rename spinner-circle to spinner-top (or spinner-bottom), other things like spinner-metre and background won't work anymore on v2, unfortunately (It would be nice if there are some way to work around this matter).

Oh I tried that before and it didnt work for me either :/ so I dont know....it would a huge loss if we cant make a spinner bg :(

I've pushed a change that'll force the spinner back to old style if you include spinner-background.png in your skin. Keep in mind this means you won't be able to use new spinner elements if you do so (spinner-middle, spinner-top, spinner-bottom).

A work around for this is rename to spinner-top and use a transparent image to spinner-bottom (or duplicate the spinner-circle and rename one to spinner-top and other to spinner-bottom).

What can be done about the alignment of my skin? I've tried "Version: 2" "Version: 1" and "Version: Latest" in my skin.ini but none of them fixed the slight problem I have been having. (I put them in there with out the quotes, don't worry)

Hollow star player rating in the upper left and very even song selection because it aligns based on font. (It seems) Which makes a nice look curve.

Stars are filled in (I didn't log in for you to see though, oops?) and each one of the songs align whichever way they feel like. It doesn't look like a nice clean curve at all, It's all jagged.

However it looks like they do align correctly when I use this skin: http://postimg.org/image/xot97fr6v/
Is there a way to get back to the older version/way the song aligned since I can't get it to work?

Do I have to deal with it or just use a different less attractive skin?

If you notice, the song alignments are jagged anyway, and the smooth curve is noticable because the panels are solid, and not partially invisible like on your other skin. The star image has also changed, so you'll have to fill them in from the old template if you want them to go back.

There are no new skin.ini codes. The only skinning change in version 2.2 is that song select will use star2.png instead of star.png.

@PinkHusky this is a cosmetic bug which will be fixed soon (misalignment when ranks are present).

Could anyone look at my skin and maybe fix it? I mean that w/ "Version: 2" I've a problems with Taiko drums and after a song with ranking-menu-background, Retry and Watch Replay buttons, but w/o any "Version: ..." I've only problems with Taiko drums. I got confused after all this what I'm trying to do to fix this.

Ok, the recent patch fixed my spinner for version 2, and setting the version to 2.1 fixed my taiko elements. (Thanks vahn10!)

I suppose theres nothing i can do for the map selection menu short of redoing the graphics? ._.
I also have no idea how to fix the broken unskinable elements.

I have spinner-background.png in my skin but the base spinner still shows up i tryed changing version none of them work.

Edit: I had problems with the ranking-replay@2x.png It didnt works. But its okay. If anyone have problems with it, like.... It doesnt show your custom ranking-replay@2x.png you only need to rename it to pause-replay@2x.png and it works :D (https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/1681028)

Need a little help here guys
After the update yesterday, i changed my skin folder to "User" and everything worked fine. But after the recent update i have this problem

Below the ranking D, it's suppose to show the pics of ranking-retry.png and ranking-replay.png ( i have those pics in the skin folder FYI) but instead, it shows the pics of pause-back.png and no retry pics ( so i assumed that it didnt load my pics and use the default)
I've already try to add another 2 pics but the result still the same

+ Skin.ini with the line "Version: 1" or none and NOT changing current skin's name to "User"
_ No small background on each mode of every beatmap
_ No "pause_retry.png" and "ranking_retry.png" conflict at the result board
_ Stilll have "ranking_replay.png"

+Skin.ini with the line "Version: 2" or "Version: 2.2 " or "Version: latest" and changing current skin's name to "User"
_ Has small background on each mode of every beatmap
_ Showing "pause_retry.png" instead of "ranking_retry.png" at the result board
_ No "ranking_replay.png"

I like the new skin behaviour and afer changing the version to latest i had no more problems with the menu-button-background but there is one thing that i cant seem to fix:

So do I seriously have to update my skin that has been working for years and suddenly it has been decided it will look like shit?

Why can't the version: 1 just use the old ways for menu's and stuff? It's really bothersome when I just wanna play instead of doing stuff with my skin |:

also, selecting an appropriate template for a skin version matters too

I've made three templates for the Ranking panel. If anyone want it make sure of download it (:

Ranking Panel Template for V1: http://puu.sh/9hwIf/635be0222d.psd
Ranking Panel Template for V2: There are two styles: http://puu.sh/9hwJ6/77b09b652a.psd // http://puu.sh/9hwKL/04c3935b81.psd

You only need to add the Background in the first layer and save it as Png in your osu folder with the name ranking-panel.png

I have spinner-background.png in my skin but the base spinner still shows up i tryed changing version none of them work.
It means you have to delete spinner-background.png for the new spinner to be used.

I've noticed when i swith to some of my other skins i get a little thumbnail in song select.
but i cant figure out how to make that thumbnail appear on my main skin

You need to add 
Version: 2.2
to your [General] section in your skin.ini.

That is because the dimensions of ur menu-button-background.png (:

I changed the dimensions of the menu-button-background.png but still the same result. It is still out of place. The image preview moves up like 1 cm from the bottom but the top still has a massive spacing issue. I use the high resolution option in osu! that lets you use the @2x.png files. I copied the resolution of the skin template's @2x.png but still the same result. I even tried disabling the high resolution mode and falling back to standard resolution but the image preview is still out of place. My screen resolution is 1600x900.

when i see your username i think i read motorolla lel nvm, just change name skin folder to "User" and add this

Anyone got this bug? I use my own custom skin. Previously, the spinner fade playfield works fine if I disable it (whih means the spinner shows up without fading background). Now it looks like this, and it doesn't have some default features like spinner-middle. Just spinner-circle.

I did it, still no changes.

EDIT: and also you can see there is no spinner-middle shows up. I don't know what cause this.

When applying the spinner background, spinner middle is gone. Might know what cause that? Or it's a bug?

I don't know. maybe because the spinner-background.png is for old style spinners? and the spinner-middle.png(also ---@2x) is for new style spinners? I dunno if I'm saying it right... :? (IF I mant to say when the spinner-middle.png is NOT present you'll need the files: spinner-circle.png, spinner-metre.png to be present in your skin folder, and if you want to make a new style spinner you'll need to present the files(including "@2x") files: spinner-middle.png, spinner-top, spinner-bottom, spinner-glow.png.

Is it just me who can't jump between pages in this thread? I can't even go to the last page. q.q

Anyways, the new skin template is currently the latest with all needed and w/o all unneeded elements? If yes, I need to dl it once more.

I have a problem with skins in general. I will have the skin chosen but in game it would use the default background and storyboard for each song. I tried multiple skins but they all have the same result. The skins will have the sounds that come with the zip folder and everything works other than the background for the skin. I'm sorry, new to adding skins so I have no clue what to do.

my 3,2,1 count picture seems to stack onto each other when a beatmap has a countdown.

Ranking panel: combo and accuracy became misaligned, replay button gone, Version: latest



Any idea what i can do to fix this??

Im not sure how to do it, sadly enough i didnt make the skin.
Should i just wait until the Skinner updates and fixes it?

If ranking-panel.png is a transparent image with characters written on, and you have the font used on characters, just erase the Combo and Accuracy and create a ranking-combo.png and ranking-accuracy.png. The same for play-replay.png. Or even recreate the ranking-panel.png using your own style, using fonts and images you have.

Or edit the skin.ini, changing from Version: latest to Version: 1 (Maybe it'll work).

I was checking out the new Skin Versions and next to Version 2.2 it said that stars will rotate now.
Can someone explain to me what this means?
Also I was hoping that they would bring back the ranking-replay and ranking-retry
