Hello! Saw your post on the BPM/offset thread. You got the BPM right but your offset was wrong. Here's what i got:

Timing Point 1
Offset: 483
BPM: 170.000

You can check whether the beats are correctly timed by going towards the ending at a random time such as 01:28:012
Your first note should also be on the first timing boxie thingy at the top right of the timing tab unless you have pickup notes.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for helping with the timing. I have a question about offsets though. At 170 bpm, one beat is 353 ms, so couldn't you add any multiple of that to the offset and the timing would still be the same?
Kihhou
Nope.
There are 2 things wrong with that.

The first problem is that the offset needs to be at the beginning of the song for convenience purposes.
If you were to add inherited points onto your map, they would have to be after your red timing point. It wont work properly if the timing point is some multiple of 352 ms and in the middle of the song when you need an inherited point somewhere back at the intro. Even if you dont plan on adding inherited points before your timing point, it's still better to put it at the beginning for convenience purposes and standardization.

The second problem is that in music, there are time signatures, usually 4/4, like this song.
That means that there are 1 big tick and 3 little white ticks for a total of 4 beats every section, or "measure" (4/4 represents the amount of beats per section). The big white tick represents the start of the beat and people would count "ONE, two, three, four" to match the pace of the beats. By not placing the timing point at the start of the measure, it's like reading ", three, four, ONE"... I feel like I'm no good at explaining this but basically, you cant do it. You can read more about it here: t/20998

Sorry about the wall of text lol :P
Arlecchino
your mp3 is higher than 192kbps... please convert to 192kbps if you want to be ranked...

because it limits the bitrate is 192 kbps for ranked map...

can you explain the reasoning behind this? i guess the vocal is off a quarter beat and starts on the 1:27:482 blue tick, but nothing happens on 1:27:659 except it's a white tick, so i'm not sure if i need something there.

to me it seems around the same difficulty as other hards, since it's easy for me to get 95%+ accuracy and a full combo after a few tries.

Hoy~!! M4M here~

[General]
  1. lower the volumes for your timing points. 100% volume isnt rankable. maybe ~75% ish max is good.
  2. turn off widescreen support if youre not using a storyboard
  3. audio bitrate is higher than 192kbps. try to get someone to help you with that >.< b/c i dont know how to get better audio. someone who modded my map gave me mine :D
[Normal]
  1. imo sliders with more than one reverse that isnt a kick slider shouldnt be in easy, normal, or hard. its sometimes too confusing for people. you should probably wait for more people and see what they think but im just mentioning it.
  2. 00:02:953 (1) - remove NC
  3. 00:03:306 (1) - finish at head

  3. 00:05:600 (4) - add NC to indicate long pause and not a jump if done, you may want to remove 00:04:718 (1)'s NC so that you dont have too many NCs in 1 place and remove 00:06:130 (1)'s NC for consistency.
  4. 01:05:071 (5,6,7,1) - the fact that all of them stack and that therse more of a delay between 5 and 6 can be tricky
  5. almost all the insane hitsounds can be applied to normal >.< bleh. i dont want to restate everything. i hope you get a general idea from it~
[Insane]

Software to compress mp3...
if you done compress it.. just delete your old mp3 in you folder.. and copy the new mp3 with 192kbps to the folder..
refresh ( f5 ) in osu windows ... and reupload.. your map ...

  1. I think the offset should be around 519 but you will change the mp3 soon so ignore this :(
  2. I think the soft-samepleset is more fit, the normal-samepleset are too loud.
  3. 100% is too loud for me, try to decrease it to 80% and decrease 80% to about 60-70%, it would sounds better.
  4. try to use grid lv4 to map, it can help you to make more pattern.
  5. please use a mute slider (soft-sliderslide)

    [Insane]
    1. change them to soft-samepleset and use clap or normal-sampleset (on the left) just on the every second white tick is better imo.
      example: 00:03:659 / 00:04:365 / 00:05:071 / 00:05:777 / 00:06:482 and go on.
    2. 00:14:600 (8) - add finish.
    3. 00:14:600 (8,1) - swap NC? if you nc follow the instrument here is more fit imo.
    4. if you make all of spacing balance would be nice too, except the jump that fit with music.

    1. Hp-1 AR-1 (Hp 5, AR 7) to keep a gap between each diff more balance.

As promised.

Mod here.
[Easy]

  1. 00:01:766 (2) - No need to do a short slider like this, you don't need any complex rhythms here and only need to show the important beats. That being said, you need to just add a circle to the red tick, that'll be fine and simple for the players to play. The beat there is just really obvious.
  2. 00:03:354 (1) - You don't need to do 2 reverses here, it can be confusing for beginners to play! Keep that in mind for your next maps, Players don't have enough reaction time because they only look at the cursor thus only the reverse arrow themselves, and so they have a slow reaction time, I think it's best to remove it and add a circle to replace the extra reverse.
  3. 00:14:825 (1,2,3) - How about you try this rhythm here? : http://puu.sh/898gL.jpg It's awkward and confusing to play (in new players perspective) to play it because they are use to following the same time-space meaning only the white ticks and constantly changing from mapping to white back to red is confusing, try to keep notes starting at white tick's next time, oh btw for slider 3 you can choose to end it in red tick if you prefer.
  4. 00:20:472 (1,2,3) - Again, try this : http://puu.sh/898A1.jpg Same reason as above.
  5. 00:23:119 (1) - Try to keep slider's relatively simple, new players can't follow the slider ball correctly if you do weird shapes like this, and if you decide to do such weird shapes, its for emphasis. Probably should change the shape.
  6. 00:28:766 (1) - ^
  7. 00:11:825 (1) - Use finish instead of clap?
  8. 00:34:413 (1) - Spacing, its way too close. Use DS and distance it farther against.
  9. 00:34:413 (1) - Your mapping from here improved alot at least from the previous , why can't you map like this in the beginning? LOL
  10. 00:38:648 (3) - Curve it less, beginners can follow it easier that way.
  11. 00:50:825 (3) - Remove the slider and add a circle to just the red tick, and move the spinner to the previous tick now.
  12. 01:21:178 (4) - ^ but no spinner here.
  13. 00:57:707 (5) - Reverse the slider please.
  14. 00:59:119 (1,2) - Another note for creating easy diffs, don't create stacks. players rely on DS and stacking totally throws them off.
  15. 01:12:178 (1) - ^
  16. 01:09:530 (3) - Extend the slider to the white tick?
  17. 00:54:178 (1) - The start of the kiai should have a finish, add a finish here.
  18. 01:22:413 (2) - Again with the multiple reverses.
Double check your DS(Distance Snap) please.
[Normal]

  1. 00:06:883 (2) - Check your spacing (DS) Distance Snap
  2. 00:11:471 (3) - ^
  3. 00:13:942 (2) - ^
  4. 00:18:530 (3) - ^ Wooooooah, 1.85x spacing omg that's a new record!
  5. 00:24:354 (1) - ^
  6. 00:25:589 (3) - ^
  7. 00:28:766 (1) - ^

  9. 00:37:236 (1) - ^
  10. 01:07:589 (1) - ^
  11. 01:22:942 (2) - ^
  12. 01:21:883 (1) - ^
  13. 01:29:118 (3) - ^
[Hard]

  1. The design of this diff is so messed up, I guess I'd rather build/fix your current map already rather than change it drastically.
  2. 00:08:118 (3,4) - Ctrl+G these note's please they flow better that way.
  3. 00:50:824 (5,6) - ^
  4. 00:27:177 (1) - It's fine, but you need to make the spacing farther it's way too close and its uncomfortable to play and you need to lay down on the stacks.
  5. 00:33:530 (1) - Split it into two sliders instead?
  6. 01:11:119 (3,4) - Remove the circle and reverse 3? the movement to 4 feels really awkward and the reverse on the slider plays and follows vocals alot better.
  7. 01:27:001 (8) - ? Why end this slider at the blue tick?
[Insane]

  1. 00:00:531 (1,2) - Why do easier rhythm here than on the other diffs, you didn't do a slider for note 2 here but for the rest idea, the harder diffs are suppose to have harder rhythms. doesn't make sense to me.
  2. 00:16:766 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - What, this is way overmapped, and the clap sounds are so annoying and quite obvious it is overmapped, hitsounds should accompany and blend in well with the music. Please consider removing some circles.
  3. 00:19:942 (1,2,3,4,5) - ^
  4. 00:40:060 (1) - Make it straight? don't understand why the slider is facing down a bit? to make the jump easier, imo it doesn't really change much. try this : http://puu.sh/89alK.jpg
  5. 00:57:001 (1,2) - Maybe curve it for variety? http://puu.sh/89aoT.jpg

Map needs much work yeah.

[Hard]

Why end this slider at the blue tick? a previous mod told me to do it like this to compensate for the song's voice which is off by 1/4 beat
[Insane]

  1. 00:00:531 (1,2) - Why do easier rhythm here than on the other diffs, you didn't do a slider for note 2 here but for the rest idea, the harder diffs are suppose to have harder rhythms. doesn't make sense to me. a previous mod had me remove the circle+slider that was originally here. i'll reinstate it.
  2. 00:16:766 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - What, this is way overmapped, and the clap sounds are so annoying and quite obvious it is overmapped, hitsounds should accompany and blend in well with the music. Please consider removing some circles.
  3. 00:19:942 (1,2,3,4,5) - ^ i disagree with this one, since if you listen closely those 5 circles are mapped on the music's drums hitting 5 times
  4. 00:40:060 (1) - Make it straight? don't understand why the slider is facing down a bit? to make the jump easier, imo it doesn't really change much. try this : http://puu.sh/89alK.jpg
  5. 00:57:001 (1,2) - Maybe curve it for variety? http://puu.sh/89aoT.jpg

Map needs much work yeah.
thanks for the mod, i really appreciate it, especially from someone who has ranked maps. i learned several things that i didn't realize were so important before, like distance spacing in easier difficulties.
