Also, the fact that you played songs you couldn't beat with nofail is actually the smartest thing you can do to improve. Most people think they have to play songs they can pass to improve but really playing what you can't or can barely pass is the best way to move forward.
We're talking about different things. JAKACHAN is talking about improving in aim and speed, and I'm talking about improving solely on accuracy.iderekmc wrote:

Actually playing mainly to improve after getting a tablet had me able to SS and S insane maps in 2 months (i'm lazy as fuck though and not nearly as committed as all these kids playing), and buying the black widow keyboard has me able to stream really well after a few months (and even stream kinda fast, not that fast though).
I lose skill rapidly if i don't keep playing. It's really annoying.
key for success: Play with a tablet for 5 hours or so once you get it, instantly use a big area (look at like M A I D's profile to see for example) play easy maps whatever you gotta do to get used to it. Once you do just start doing insanes/hards, your skill will increase super rapidly.
Main thing I noticed when I got a tablet is that I was instantly really good at spinning (430-460+).
The effort required to play with a tablet is like 1/15th of a mouse. And I love using the mouse, i play all kinds of fps games, good aim good reactions etc, always a top player in whatever game but osu! is just perfect for a pen tablet.
TLDR: buy a tablet if you like this game and don't have the irrational tablet hating mentality because you can't afford one. orz
Stop playing maps you can get a good score on and play maps that you can barely pass. You'll improve loads in no time.tomden wrote:
WowI feel kinda bad I have almost 9k plays and still I get mostly B/C ratings on insanes, I even have d ratings on some streamy maps(I stream like shit on some maps getting only 50/100s =s) And there are still alot of harder insanes i cant pas even after 50+ plays on the map^^

you can fc that map with 3700 playcount? holy shit, that took me like 70k playcount.vsprite wrote:
1 month of playing, 3700 playcount and the best i can do atm is fc this song:

Mostly get b's and c's but the occasional a's if i practise the beatmaps hard enough.
Also, i found osu sorta my reaction time in cricket as well, and im able to react more quickly to fast bowlers.
there's no way he can FC that xDsilmarilen wrote:

How about going to your local rankings, clicking the score, saving the replay and puushing it here?vsprite wrote:

4-5k playcount is when I started playing most insanes, and I starting FC-ing most of them after 9-10 times after about 1k or 1.5k afterwardsHyroo wrote:

when i was at about 2k i decided to up the dificulty quite a bit, more or less froce it, so i downloaded the first thing i found to be hard and that happende to be NIRGILIS - SNOW KISS ... took about 200 replays (its still in my top played) but in the end i mangaed to complete it one morning. because of the high learning curve at the time and hours of closely studying of my teqnique i beacame more calm on the keybord and tablet (huion h610). im at 4.5k plays now and although insane songs arent exactly easy they beacame doable. curently im trying much faster songs (like Bermuda Loverz - My Girl (Nightcore Mix) - insane) and once in a while i find myself going much faster then i thought i could
i definaly DO NOT recommand this way of practice to everyone, slow and patient is one of the best way to learn, but i do want to stress that you should up the dificulty slightly once you are comfortable with your current standing (dont go crazy with the dificulty and being comfortable does not entale getting only S or SS ot a sertain BPM, it can be as close as geting As and holding up a long combo)
one more thing, do not play the game compatively. your rank should be an indication if your current skill level not an idntication of how many hours you strained your hand, enjoy the game and go at your own pace. Every one has potantial so keep playing and watch yourself grow, its alot more rewarding and enjoyable at the end of the day day
Have Fun
You're right plays aren't a very good indication, in all honesty I don't think rank is a good indication either. It all depends on how long ago you started playing and how often you play, as well as what you are using (Mouse or tablet). Mouse has a slight disadvantage cause it takes longer to learn how to aim well... I started out with a mouse because I leaned of osu back when I was using a Mac so due to software limitations I couldn't use my tablet (h610) cause of the large work area, so I know that it is a bit more difficult, on the contrary I have a fiend who got into osu at the same time as me but he stuck to using a mouse and he is slightly bellow my skill level. What I'm pushing at is "how long and how often you play?" Is a much better indication of where you should be at... But at the end of the day this question becomes a "who has a bigger dong " contestSushiBottle wrote:
However, i'm not too sure about the accuracy of how many plays I actually have, since most of them are just me failing near the beginning many, many times (if you look at my historical) or failing an fc and restarting immediately. So in reality the plays may be less... oh and I'm currently siutting at around 5.8k~ plays.
That song is evil =PAnegelSeeker wrote:
i just completed the Hard on "Hommarju feat. Latte - masterpiece" and id say its about the "easy insane" difficulty, and i can blast through about 1/2 of the Insane difficulty... I'm at 5.2k plays and 6 months in osu (take away about 3 months due to slow activity) ... you can try the hard difficulty and it will give you a rough indication of where I'm personally at after 3 months of OSU!, playing every day for at least an hour a day.
