Ignore this, I just tested the mouse fix again and it worked fine. Odd though, I restarted and then ran osu again and it failed. This time around it's working fine with a few derps here and there.

Now, the higher the sensitivity, the erraticness increases

Yes, this fixes the 200hz cap/input lag issue

It doesn't fix the sensitivity != 1.0x issue though

Well, apparently we can fix osu! by manually extending the update part. The question is should i attempt to manually change it as the instructions say or should i wait until they have a fix fix? Also, does manually adding osu! solve the mouse sensitivity problem?

That's what I did, the update does nothing otherwise

Edit: Doesn't seem to help. If you want to test it, you have to flag osu!.exe to be affected by the update (instructions under "How to extend the update to other games").
Added osu!.exe manually, works like a charm now.

That fix completely solved the issue for me. I can select sensitivities well above 1.0x without getting jumpy cursors like I was before I applied the update. I applied the registry fix, did the ShimFlushCache step, then rebooted and that fixed the problem. Mouse also seems slightly more responsive as well.

I notice that osu! seems to be taking longer to load with the fix, but that's a really minor issue compared to jumpy mouse.

This doesn't seem to be the case for me. I applied the fix and extended the update to osu and the problem is still there for me when I raise the mouse sensitivity in osu's settings. I made sure the path to the file is correct and the value data is correct too. So, this fix didn't work for me and it appears it didn't fix the sensitivity issue for other users here as well. I guess I'll stick to 1.0x for now.

We want to thank our gaming community for the detailed feedback many of you have provided on these issues. We have released some fixes and workarounds that will allow you to get back to your gaming.

The “mouse lag” issue is actually several different issues that could vary based on the game, input methods used, etc.

The three following issues are addressed by a fix we have provided in KB 2908279:

Mouse jitters (jumps forward and back) as you move it through a game
– This occurs in some games because Windows 8.1 introduced changes to mouse input processing for low latency interaction scenarios and this causes some games to respond differently to mouse input than in previous releases of Windows.

Mouse movement is not to scale even after acceleration is turned off
– If you have turned off acceleration to make the distance on the screen match the distance you move the mouse, that may not work correctly anymore.

Measured mouse Polling Rate has a lower reporting frequency than expected
– If you have a gaming mouse that has a high frequency, when you test it, you may find it is reporting a lower frequency than you expect. Note: if you previously encountered issues with measuring the polling rate you will need to follow the instructions in KB 2908279 to ensure that, not only the patch is installed, but also the app used to measure the polling rate has an appropriate registry entry to enable the fix for that specific executable.

I am on Windows 8.1, do I need to install some Windows update manually? If yes then from where? Also no I havent done the hotfix I thought it was in the fix you sent let me try it with the hotfix first. Thanks for help.

EDIT: It worked after I installed the hotfix, thanks for help I can finally play Osu! at uni.

Ah; if you ran Windows Update, you probably have the GA update; at some point before launch though you had to manually download the update.

Updated the fix link and added clearer instructions :)

I am having the same problem. Mouse movements are not to scale which is making it almost impossible for me to do spinners. So do we just need to wait for another update or...?

What if I have problems with my mouse stability and sensitivity on a non-Windows 8 OS? Because I'm not really sure if it's just the mouse's laser len thing or the program itself, because it used to work perfectly fine with osu.

I can confirm this update solves the problem completely, but you need to follow the steps given in the page (instead of just installing the update).

I don't think that the path below would work in 32-bit.
"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\osu!\\osu!.exe"="NoDTToDITMouseBatch"

So I uploaded a copy with this for the 32-bit (64-bit is also included, separated from 32-bit).
"C:\\Program Files\\osu!\\osu!.exe"="NoDTToDITMouseBatch"

It did not work after following the steps in the solution.
But then, i tried to put it in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and it worked perfect. :)
(I have Windows 8.1 32-Bits)

@Espionage724: The file path may differ depending on where you put your osu! folder at. So the registry tweak may not work on some people if they put osu! elsewhere than Program Files folder.

Pretty sure the registry entry is still needed, but I'll check a bit later.

The movement also seems more sluggish during a song than it is elsewhere.

Well, I'm glad that it's playable at 1.0 sensitivity.

Had to change my desktop pointer speed to make it work well with 1.0. Hope this gets fixed soon though, cuz my mouse is zoomin around now. xD

Microsoft released a rollup that included the mouse fix, so you may already have the update. Verify that you have the rollup update first, then add the registry entry to flag osu! to receive the fix.

I have done just about everything on the Wiki page with all the downloads and everything correct about 3 times and I still have a very glitch mouse if I go above anything like 2.0x at best. Even at 2.0x it glitches a whole lot. Any additional suggestions?

If you happen to have this issue on windows 8, it is mostly likely something with your settings. Fix explained here fixes mouse issue which occurs when using sensitivity higher than 1,0x

Windows 8 doesn't have this issue, only Windows 8.1. If you're having an issue like this on 8, then there's something else causing the problem.

Thank you Espionnage724, you've made me save a few money.... when I first noticed this problem I just thought it was coming from my mouse and was considering buying a new one x) Your steps completly solved the problem (though it looks like I actually already had the fix, through an automatic update maybe?). For those whose problem may not be fixed, I personally had to change the directory (http://puu.sh/6OKpS.png) so maybe you should check it too.

So I updated to 8.1 today, and when I tried installing the windows patch, it said it wasn't applicable to my system. I followed the steps and now my cursor issues with mouse movement speed are resolved, but for whatever reason all my mouse movements in osu feel really off now. I've double checked to make sure mouse acceleration is turned off, but sometimes I'll be able to do big jumps and the next play my mouse will go like 3/4s of the way across the screen with what feels like the same hand motion.

I've had this issue before and I have no idea what I did to fix it. For a while all my jumps felt good and I knew exactly how far to move my mouse to get it where I wanted but now everything just feels... off.

Is this related to the windows 8.1 update? Or is it something completely different?

Test build has a potential fix for this. It also allows tablet users to change sensitivity. Please test and let me know how it feels.

I think I have the patch applied to my win 8.1 already so im not sure if i would still get mouse jitter, but currently in test build i can do 4.0x just fine with no jitter.

However going below 1.0x I cant move my cursor around the whole screen, its most notable at 0.5x where my mouse is locked to a small sub section of the osu window (usually the top right or bottom right, i cant move it to the left half of my screen). I am running it fullscreen windowed and have two monitors if thats important.

Hi!

I have Win 8.1 and when i pull mouse sensitivity inside osu over/under 1.0X, it tells me, that since I have Win 8.1+, it enables the Raw input, but my mouse freezes - even though i can click, but ONLY click.

Do I have to use osu!Beta to have this solved?

Already tried the mentioned solutions. Every single one.

OK I had this issue as well and i fixed it. Go into your tablet settings and change it from pen mode to mouse mode.
