I'm financially able to own one, but do I really need it? My house is only like a 15-minute walk to my workplace, and the public transport around my area is pretty good in case I need to go town.
Plus with the increasing prices of fuel and toll hikes and stuff I think public transport is more cost-effecient (and more of a pain in the ass, but at least I don't need to get mad dealing with traffic jams after workhours)

If you can't see a reason you would need one then no.

There are car renting services here, but it's pretty small. I do rent them once in a while, in case I need to travel somewhere where going by public transport is a pain. It's not really that expensive anyway (~100MYR a day for a 2-year old sedan)
The cheapest (new) car here that is good for me to not be very fussy is at least ~35000MYR, and I'll be paying back the loan for 5 years minimum. Or maybe getting a bike would be a cheaper alternative, but safety is an another concern

If you want to get a new car in Malaysia....
Take a good look at the hybrid cars
They have a huge tax rebate....
You can prolly get a Honda Jazz hybrid for RM7x,xxx
Which is in my opinion, better than any of any Malaysian made cars and not too pricey...
Never before i have seen overseas branded cars at such a low price
Just pointing it out in case you didnt know

I wouldnt recommend a bike in Malaysia at all

I dont recommend it..... the car even if you maintain it properly.... will have a lot of problems.
I heard taxi drivers complain, my uncle is one too...
If you cant afford a more expensive/reliable car, i guess you should stick with what you are doing now. Since you dont seem to have much trouble atm.
You dont want to tie yourself up in monthly installment for 5years for a car that cant even last 5years.
