Mouse Only Players - Gameplay Setup Question and stuff..

Still testing stuff with my new mouse, so these might not really be accurate for the time being.

1. What is your Windows mouse pointer speed? Testing from 7/11 to 11/11
2. What is your osu!'s mouse sensitivity? 1.0x
3. Did you enable the "Precision Mode" in osu!? Doesn't exist anymore. However, precision mode on Windows is enabled.
4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?) Mouse DPI is 8200. When playing, ~4100 DPI is used.
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Corsair Vengeance® M65
6. What is your osu!'s screen resolution? 1920x1080
7. Do you prefer fullscreen or windowed mode? Fullscreen.
8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? Fingertip grip
9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?) Razer Goliathus Speed
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) Really weird jump angles, still trying to find that "perfect" feel with my new mouse, accuracy is an issue, can't play anything above 160 bpm.

But I'm still trying to work things out with this new mouse. So...I might edit this again once I find a reliable set of settings. :s

I was doing this last night, and to my absolute surprise, it actually felt right for once.
Also turned off precision mode.

7. After discovering that windows aero caused a lot of delay, and if I disabled it my osu! would crash, then I started playing fullscreen.
8. Palm when I'm mouse only... claw when I use keyboard + mouse.
9. Some generic steelseries one.
10. Long songs without a break... I tend to use my grip on the mouse when doing mouse only, and on long songs I end up with an unplayable grip around 2 minutes without a break.

7. Full, I played once in an Internet Cafe, it felt better with Fullscreen (it was 1366 768 back then)

9. I had an ugly and cheap one (0.5 bucks), but I lost it so I replaced with a sheet of paper
10. Mostly at jumps, sometime at streams, and a long jumpy/streamy maps, too tired to spin if there is a spinner at the end

ALWAYS have your windows pointer speed(type mouse in run) at the third level(7/10)
Thisway it will not skip any dots. Believe me, even if it's is too fast or too slow, you have to do this. Also, uncheck that thing underneeth the slider. Thats garbage and only makes everything harder. These are all tips that will improve EVERYONES skill, believe me.
If you find it too slow or too fast at the standartsetting, try to find an altarnative to change the sensitivity, jsut dont touch the windows mouse slider, let it be on standard

I've a little question : I'm not mouse ONLY player I move with mouse but don't click with it, but I wonder, why using 6/11 ? I'm personnaly using mouse at 2100 DPI and windows at 3/11 ...

I hate long beatmaps that become insanely hard at certain parts (especially toward the end) while being relatively easy at other parts of the song. Also, beatmaps that include many stacked notes, especially if the background is animated and colorful. You basically have to remember when the stacked notes appear as it's almost impossible to see the circle around them.

I used to play with mouse only for the first one and a half years (400dpi, otherwise same settings), after which I had a huge break. I felt like I could never get back to the level I was before so after 5 or so months I gave up (on that oh so frustrating streaming) and started to use the keyboard. I've gradually started to play with mouse clicks more often and find much more pleasure in that now that I've achieved the level I was looking up towards when I started playing.

1. 7/11 windows cursor speed
2. x1 osu!speed
4. 800dpi
5. Logitech MX518/G400
6. 1240x1024 windowed
8. I use a variety of grips on different styles of maps, and these things I consider a secret of the trade. I had fun discovering them and so should you.
9. Razer Sphex is the mousepad. I've come accustomed to using my arm as a pivot and even though I have experimented again on using no pivot at all, I believe it requires a much lower sensitivity.

10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...)
This is a hard one... The ability to unconsciously avoid frustration so I can't retry? To get real though, most of my problems are related to reading and how to correctly apply it to my grip. Past CS5 streams still get extremely tough. With the experience I've gained now adjusting and learning has become much faster so I'm not too worried about that.

I should've really kept a osu!diary of progress or something, fun times has been had.

1. What is your Windows mouse pointer speed? 11/11. Burn me at the stake. It's because I can't adjust the mouse dpi and so I use this for the rest of my computing needs as well as osu.
2. What is your osu!'s mouse sensitivity? 2.0. Switched from 1.5 about a week or two ago because jumps weren't looking feasible.
3. Did you enable the "Precision Mode" in osu! ? Precision mode in osu! is always enabled, but this is different in Windows. So ignore this question.
4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?) I can't find it, but I think it's 400.
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Microsoft Intellimouse Optical USB

9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?) This thing, has a wrist rest. Staples® Deluxe Mousepad with Gel-Filled Wrist Rest
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) After spins I often find my hand in an awkward position. Hard to chain 5note or longer streams with singles or sliders or jumps. Vertical Cross screen jumps are a lot more awkward than horizontal ones, i think.

4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?) It has a max of 1000 dpi but i have no idea how to check.
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Logitech M125 (Very small laptop mouse i got like 3-4 years ago. Currently seeking a new one T_T)
6. What is your osu!'s screen resolution? 1366x768
7. Do you prefer fullscreen or windowed mode? Fullscreen because skype notifications make the game FPS drop.
8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? Have to claw grip it
9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?) A cheap but somewhat reliable mousepad i found.
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) The biggest issue is the mouse itself lol. It's so small which makes holding/gripping it after spinners is somewhat uncomfortable. Sometimes my arm tenses up and holding it just becomes awkward. I've grown to get used to it over these 3-4 years but i would still prefer any other mouse if i could afford one :P Hopefully i can get a somewhat decent mouse this holiday season.


TL;DR: This mouse sucks. Very durable and reliable but it sucks for games.

8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? flat on the mouse, but after a while, I might grip
9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?) Mousepad given with mouse
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) My spin isn't very fast, I get maybe 2/3 of my jumps, if streams travel too far I would probably break

5. What kind of mouse you are using? Logitech M305 (10/10 Highly recommended if you can find.)

8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? With my piney, ring finger, and thumb somehow.

It might take a while to get used to it, but it's definitely worth it.

Also, I'd recommend switching to 6/11 in Windows and adjusting your DPI accordingly. Anything lower than 6/11 just makes Windows ignore mouse reports. By using 4/11, you're effectively cutting your polling rate in half.
