Pretty solid outside of that, although I'm worried about my framerate which is really low compared to osu! on my Windows 7 partition. (~100fps as opposed to 1000+).
The text is pretty screwed up also, I think this is a recurring problem, it cuts out and doesn't display all the way.
Also uploading the screenshot made osu! freak out, the window completely disappeared and I had to kill it using cmd-Q.

it's kinda weird but I can't play osu! mania and catch the beat o.o I can't see the anything but the vid o.O
getting better but thre is still the sensitivity problem and it also freezes alot other than that the game is working fine for now
I can't play osu!mania most of the time because the area where the keys (df jk) is covered with a black rectangle. And the keys dont show up if I press them or anything like that. My osu! is completely updated etc. Please fix. thanks

I can't upload my beatmap using the BSS since the "Upload Beatmap..." option is located in the 'File' header of the menu bar, and the Osu! application running on X11 only has the 4 osu!, Edit, Window, and Help headers, I cannot access it. Is there a way to make the File header show, or maybe another way to submit beatmaps?

Adding beatmaps to my 'Songs' folder (or dragging the .osz file to the Osu! icon) doesn't update immediatly. This is a problem when I'm trying to play with friends and I'm not the one hosting the match (I would have to restart my game every time a new beatmap comes on I don't already have). Any solutions to this?

You'll have to press "alt+F5" to get it to do the refresh action because I think F5 on a Mac will hide/move windows out of the view.Feed_Me1 wrote:

I downloaded an unranked beatmap and installed it. However, the message "Unable to importe beatmap [beatmap name] blablabla" appear in the bottom right corner. I figured out that the mp3 was just missing, so I wanted to fix this.
I can open the .osu file containing the difficulty without problems (separated download), but I can't do anything to the .osz file. Yes, I've searched for similar issues; yes, I've looked inside the failed folder to see my trashed beatmap; no, there isn't any debug-report.txt in the osu folder.
EDIT : Also, when loading a beatmap, there's a chance it will crash halfway the loading. Nothing will show up, the only option is to use Ctrl+Q.

I've experienced this before too but in the earlier versions. Sometimes when I would load FL mod, it would dim the screen without adding the small circle of light to see through. So basically, it's like not having FL on at all. The only function that would continue to work would be holding sliders (which with FL, causes the screen to dim even more).Creyslz wrote:

I messed around with the flashlight mod some more. I ended up finding a map where it did create the flashlight effect, but it also dimmed the screen, making it surprisingly difficult to play as I easily lost track of the osu button things. However, on other maps, it still only dimmed the screen.

Performance is significantly improved. All(?) Graphical issues fixed. Frame rate stability has improved. osu!direct downloads now working properly. spinner responsiveness greatly improved. (Currently) No more fatal crashes on OS X 10.6.8 and no more application crashes on OS X 10.6 - 10.7 (10.8+ untested due to my lack of the OS)

Ok seriously last update for the next 5 hours. Multiplayer Visual glitches are now fixed. Player name no longer disappear from the side. Leader board visual glitches now fixed. Leader board positions no longer stack on top of each other randomly.

I've managed to package osu! on wineskin 2.5.12 with the latest wine engine WS9Wine1.7.1D3DBoost. Fixed a lot of general display issues and feels as if performance is generally better. Currently testing and will see if it crashes less often than the currently released Mac Beta.

This update works great, fixed MP problems, no crashing anymore, beatmaps update automatically as they should, however my framerate pretty much halved itself; how can I fix this?

Is it still over 60? If so, then it doesn't need to be fixed.
Also, I noticed the "drive_c" folder that was in the older version is not in there tho, I don't think that could cause the issue. [screenshot]
I'll try restarting my Mac and see if it will load up.
EDIT: I found the drive_c folder but, I'll still reboot to see anyways.
EDIT 2: Ok it works now. Deleted and reinstalled the app.

I've been testing with various Wine engine, as well as Wine wrapper setting combination, and here are some of my personal observations:
1. The game achieves stable fps with no more random fps lag spike while playing with most of the up-to-date engines released by Winehq.
The problem is, however, the Mouse will be "lagging" - the location of the mouse seems to be off with just 60fps cap from most (if not all) engines.
2. With most up-to-date engines (1.7.x and up), the game achieve best performance result with Mac driver on (setting in Wrapper, "Set Screen Option").
The downside is, however, sometime the game crash on starting (maybe most of the time), and you will not be able to play with a tablet (it can be explained but will take too long, in short the cursor will "jump" all over and you won't be able to play).
3. All engines I tested (even back to 1.5 with specific pointer fix to test out Mac Driver) will cap your fps on Osu at 60 no matter what.
The only exception so far is the InfinityRaw Engine designed to help low-end mac playing game. The irony is, this is the only engine enable mac to pass 60fps on osu. Also, this will fix the feels-like-arriving-late cursor.
I did test out the version from CloseKnight, however, it was too hard for me to play as I had to literally swift my timing up half a beat in order to hit. This may be dealt with using the Universal Tool in setting, but I just chose to switch back to InfinityRaw Engine.
To change the engine back, you will need to download the engine, switch to Finder, Cmd-G and type in
~/Library/Application Support/Wineskin/Engines
put it there, open Wineskin -->Advance --> Tools --> Change Engine Used, and you should be able to see "InfinityRaw"

it's "Engines", I made a typo ...
You can always go to ~/Library/Application Support and then find Wineskin folder from there.

As great as the InfinityEngine is, it is outdated beyond belief. If it had been updated at all within the past year I would've considered using it but it hasn't. Even the alternative builds of it like the Infinity Blur, Green, Dark, Raw3, & 360 engines all haven't been updated in over a year.
I know it is old, and project Infinity has come to a halt a long time ago, it is still a great engine to be used as back-up.
I am not saying the new engines are not good, I just say that for some reasons, Infinity Engine is more compatible at the moment, for me at least. I just want to play osu! with 100-120fps and be able to hit fast nodes and enjoying the music, I won't mind being left out on some graphic features (which mostly reside on Mac Driver option, which mostly cannot be used with osu! for now)

Actually, I'm working on a new build using Mac Driver and it's now working fine. Uncapped reaches around 300ish fps. Tablet works properly. Mouse too. I'll be sending it to Peppy later onShirayuki wrote:

Actually, I'm working on a new build using Mac Driver and it's now working fine. Uncapped reaches around 300ish fps. Tablet works properly. Mouse too. I'll be sending it to Peppy later on

I can confirm getting the lowest latency I've seen yet (at 120fps limiter).

I wanted to show my respect and to thank CloseKnight and Peppy for making this to work! With Mac Driver and the latest engine being used, osu! is getting the best performance possible.
One small thing remain though, I still seem to have trouble when playing with tablet and windowed mode. In my case, I am playing on 1024x600, and using a Wacom Bamboo CTL-470 with a fracture of the tablet to show the screen. I still am getting the "cursor jumping all over" issue, can this somehow be fixed?
Here is a small replay. It looks cleaner with my skin.

Hmm that's kinda weird. I tested it with both my Bamboo Pen tablet and a Cintiq 13HD that I found lying around at my uni and they worked just fine. I'd test it on a CTL if I could get my hands on one but I don't know anyone with one, so I guess I'll go from a technical standpoint here. Do you have the latest drivers for the tablet installed? What settings are you using on the driver? I don't really know about the menu of the CTL but my Bamboo Pen has both a Pen and Mouse mode and I find the responsiveness of the pen mode is a lot better generally. What size screen are you playing on (might be a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway)?Shirayuki wrote:

Edit: Bah didn't realise my Bamboo Pen tablet actually WAS the CTL-470. I can vouch for mine working fine but not on the exact settings of yours. Tell me your screen size and your tablet settings and I'll tell you, if possible, how to fix it.
Edit 2: Ok tested out 1024x600 on my tablet and it actually spazzed out even more than yours. I'll see if I can do anything to fix it.
Edit 3: I have a grasp of the problem now. The window tries to keep the mouse in it during the song but the tablet keeps trying to emulate the entire screen. I'll mess around with the settings of the wrapper but no promises on whether I can solve anything.
Edit 4: I can confirm this happens with other games as well. Unless the way osu! itself works is changed than the tablet won't be able to figure out what it's meant to do. Even in mouse mode the tablet won't work properly. Your best bet is just to play it on your actual screen size. CMD+TAB works perfectly fine so you don't need to worry about not being able to tab out.

I can replicate the jumping cursor issue when using SmoothMouse and a mouse. There should be a way to fix it. I believe since it only happens during gameplay, I may be able to do something about it at the osu! end.

The performance is substantially better now, but there are a few things I've found wrong with it so far.
-Custom bindings no longer work. I can't set my own bindings anymore.*
-Using space to skip doesn't work properly.*
-Also have a non-audio related offset issue. The circles and sliders are coming in too early.**

Hmm I see. Sorry I haven't replied. Uni has just started and I've had a busy (although not for the right reasons) week. I'll get around to trying to test the problems you've mentioned sometime this weekend and I'll see if I can find a solution. To everything that's not the tablet jumping around in windowed mode issue that is. That's not a problem with the wrapper itself, more so an amalgamation of problems in general.
However the circles and sliders being early is new to me. It seems to me there's a problem with your settings file in general here.

Sorry, i forgot to update my post, somehow... or maybe the whole 'notes being early' was psychological... the problem went away after changing the resolution. All the other issues stand.

Are you switching applications during playing? Are you running any hacks on your system (mouse/keyboard shortcuts, mouse "drivers" etc)?
No keyboard hacks/shortcuts, and the only "mouse" driver I have is the Wacom drivers for my tablet. The old release of the osu!.app had none of these problems so I'm not sure what's conflicting with these features now. (At least no more crashing )

My osu! stopped working overnight it just won't even start up and i don't think I changed anything.
Tried reinstalling the game but i also noticed i can only download version 20130922 from the website.

Well the issue is that osu! wont even launch and I saw that the latest version was 20130926 so I thought it could be a version problem.
Osu! seems to freeze a LOT mid game now. As in, all visuals stop but audio goes on, usually lasting for around 6 -9 seconds, then the game continues.
That is not quite the case. As I click on osu! in my dock it just jumps once and shuts down. It doesn't do absolutely anything.
I have the same bug sometimes Delosias. I find that you need to open up package contents and find "Wineskin.app" inside it, and then open it. I'm not on my Mac right now so I don't know all the details of what you need to press, but if you press a button on the bottom right somewhere, I believe, then you should have a debug window open up. It should say Osu.exe or something somewhere. If you click on run, you can exit wineskin.app and Osu will not longer just bounce once in the dock then close. It will do as it has always done.
