Back to Sinistro about the whole "we're not being very original" thing, that's true in its entirety, but on the flip-side, it's a pop-sensation sort of premise. How many original ideas exist in rhythm games these days? Well, there's the Taiko mascot, but nothing else really comes to mind. Samba de Amigo's monkey? A clever yet subtle racial stab.
The premise is likely going to lack originality no matter what we do. I think the creativity is in the design, and hopefully we can come up with something beyond standard in the way of character design, like perhaps why this character's cheers are able to accomplish some sort of objective. Why, or How.
I'd think some kind of outfit that channels rhythm into a form of energy or karma which can then be passed on to those in need of help.
