I still don't see why Loginer doesn't just post the Osu logo on one of the chan boards and have them magically turn it into a loli like they always do.
He probably hasn't because he realizes that if you throw that onto a chan board for them to do as they like, we'll end up with way more trolls than we do now, and more than likely no usable results.

Back to Sinistro about the whole "we're not being very original" thing, that's true in its entirety, but on the flip-side, it's a pop-sensation sort of premise. How many original ideas exist in rhythm games these days? Well, there's the Taiko mascot, but nothing else really comes to mind. Samba de Amigo's monkey? A clever yet subtle racial stab.
The premise is likely going to lack originality no matter what we do. I think the creativity is in the design, and hopefully we can come up with something beyond standard in the way of character design, like perhaps why this character's cheers are able to accomplish some sort of objective. Why, or How.
I'd think some kind of outfit that channels rhythm into a form of energy or karma which can then be passed on to those in need of help.

I do think that Loginer should make a 3D model of Gabe's avatar. Just for the sake of hilarity.
Came up with a couple concept sketches based on the ideas Lolginer, Sinistro and I were throwing back and forth (both in this thread and on ORC).

Criticism are go, but, make sure you keep the criticisms to the design and not the actual drawing because fuck you I'm not an artist !!! it is also beside the point.
And beating 31Gabe to the punch, no, the girl should not be wearing the kimono. Criticisms are opinions, not statements.
Some things I was considering alternatives for was the grey leotard-ish midriff being just bare skin, and perhaps another hairstyle, maybe cropped or something. I think the hair shouldn't be pinned up in any such way (as that gives a more formal impression and a less spirited/lively/outgoing feel) but perhaps it could do to be longer.
The name is just a femininization of "peppy" that popped into my head while I was at work. If you like it, take it, if not, who cares. Not too attached to it.
Anyway, at least this is a start for the meeting tomorrow =\

We could have two mascots, the Osu! logo (with a top hat if people really want it) for the male mascot and the anime girl as the female mascot. Why settle for one when you can go for two?

The hand (front) only looks like a hand front because I spent like 20 minutes on that alone (I'm also terrible with hands but that one turned out alright after enough redrawing) but feet oh lord.

My friend drew my old roleplaying char and made this kick ass avatar, it'd be a good idea for him to be one of the encourgers. Or mascot, I don't really care...

Seconded, kage__7 is teh hax at drawing. You should try finishing off awp's sketch, since I don't think he included a face or hands.

While the osu buttons are a nice touch, I think they're too small and subtle. I think it'd be better to replace them with something that'd be visible during gameplay, like a big pendant or something similar.
A pendant/necklace of the osu button sounds like a good idea, but remember we can't go overboard with osu buttons.

The general anatomy feels a bit off. I think it would be really beneficial if you used references a la nude models (and let's keep it serious in this thread) as well as human skeletons. ALSO YOUR HANDS LOOK PRETTY DAMN GOOD APART FROM THE THUMB BEING TOO PULLED BACK/SMALL MAYBE. Proportions feel good but the torso is far too flat.

Lowered the breasts, increased the thumb size, and made the body a bit more curvy. Here's a picture.

Yeah, it's just that when you're drawing for a model you have to make absolutely sure that the proportions are the same down to the finest details in both directions, otherwise problems start cropping up for the modeler. It takes a bit, which is why I'm waiting ^_^;;awp wrote:

Their outfits are very reminiscent of cheer outfits used in Japanese/Korean school. They are currently nameless but I like the name "Asami" for the female. Just throwin' this out there~

Anywayz, here's a pic I drew in MS Paint for an MMO idea sometime back. Ignore the first two, but the third character was to be used as the example character for the Cheerleaders Club, she is also a character of mine that I have used in other projects.

I don't exactly like the long hair, but other than that, I like some elements of the design. The legs, specifically. Thanks awp! Speaking of which, here's another image that I drew which is -loosely- based on awp's idea (When I drew the first two chars, I did not bother reading through the thread). It's is a very rough sketch but you get the idea.
I like this new design, Sarumaru. I like the legwarmers in theory, but I can't help but think they make her look more like a Gundam, lol. I do like that we now seem to have some decent artists and I like that the designs are starting to converge into a solid idea. Keep tennis-ing the design back and forth until we all agree on something, that's what I say
