Average tier is probably UNABLE to do AR9 and longer streams, and maps with longer faster jumps.
Now I think I'm average sometimes, ar9 is too slow sometimes >: like on freedom dive
MillhioreF
I must be the best player on osu! for being able to read ar0 by that logic
kriers
Players these days...
Misinterpreting bad reading skills by calling beatmaps too slow.

Playing by reactions is one thing I hate doing, especially because it needs to extremely fast before I can't plan ahead anymore, but some players seem to be only capable of playing so long as they're too busy keeping up with the beatmap and don't start trying to comprehend the beatmap itself.
she_old
Planning ahead gives me such headaches, the less objects on the screen the easier it is to follow imo. (that's why I have invisible followpoints)
The only thing I plan ahead is how the song sounds so I kinda know when to click.
I also don't think I'm playing on pure reaction as it doesn't feel as if I'm reacting that fast.

How to play: See notes on playfield -> click notes on playfield.
Yes?

we have hr for that

How to play: See notes on playfield -> move mouse over notes on playfield -> click notes on playfield on the next relevant beat. People who can only read AR10 and above are people who have lost all sense of rhythm and turned osu! into a "click the circle ASAP" game.

Explain how I focus on rhythm all the time and lose 10% accuracy(average) without sound
Ziglez
i think people have high expectations for average player, if you play multiplayer you can see the average is a lot lower standard than people are naming.

Well okay, "all sense of rhythm" was a bad word choice. You still focus on the BPM at that point to know how fast to click, but you can't discern music patterns to know when to click without the aid of circles only appearing on required beats.
she_old
Actually I imagine when circles would appear while listening to the music(usually for a second time) in order to predict when to click and then compare it to the next circle that appears, I don't know if that counts as clicking without the aid of circles only appearing on required beats.

Let average = median.

actually like 9 (some entered while others left over the course of room's duration)

because best mp room. everybody wants in
she_old
Whenever I create a room like that everybody insta-quits.
Aqo
well I didn't host any hard maps only stuff like sandpig's manima ni dt and against gilgamesh dt and dragons dt

average maps for average players

people don't quit if you keep the difficulty level fair and easy
cirno-_old
DT+HR+HD easy S-rank
DT+HR Normal S-rank
HR or DT Hard S-rank
Capable of HD easy insanes S-rank
Be capable of passing normal insanes in less than 30 tries

You can always get a full room of insane people just go spam invitations to people you know like to play impossible stuff and that's all. Done that in the past it's quite easy.

By the way, being able not-to-read shit, play AR 500 and spam z/x means nothing. That just means you're a speed player, which is completely useless since being able to clear hard stuff means you can clear it, not that you can properly play it. That's why speed players are just... "that crazy guy who can stream 400000 BPM and play AR 5000". Then if you're a consistent player, getting good acc and a few misses on anything you play, having to drill a few times some very hard map to get an FC, and can play like a speed player too, then you're actually very good.

Most "impossible DTs" are just impossible because you either gotta spam or have to read very high ARs, first is retarded since there is no point on clearing some map with 80% and random misses all over the map, second one is meh, reading AR 9 DT or more is a skill itself with no much use. I'd rather be a consistent player, getting good plays all the time without much practice rather than a super speed player who can clear stuff nobody really cares about with terrible acc and 500 misses. xd

Aqo's that cool kid that's top tier and doesn't make such a big deal about it.

I guess I'm a kind of odd ball according to a lot of criterias here... :p I'm the kind of guy who throws himself against way too hard maps and go retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, retry, until I eventually clear it, that's what triggers me. If you look at my profile, I got 389 plays on http://osu.ppy.sh/b/66535 on Insane, and so far I've cleared it once. I'm honestly baffled at why I can't do it again, I just keep missing stuff here and there for no apparant reason. I guess I'm just bad. :p

Now I'm working on http://osu.ppy.sh/b/68036 and with 131 plays I'm just about halfway through.

I guess I'm just weird.

EDIT: Though I did S http://osu.ppy.sh/s/50133 on my first try with only one 50, which kind of surprised me ^___^

EDIT 2: Honestly this thread is kind of demoralizing.. xD

Well, we could discuss how the average level for an osu!std player has changed since four years ago.

But still, damn necromancers.
