I really came into doubt now: Axarious or goose is the best?
axarious can more difficult maps but the acc is not high, and goose makes maps more "easy" but the acc is insane.
I'm only a few months old in this website and the game but do people really care about how much PP the map gives instead of the great music and the map itself?
It looks impressive to see played, but not 500pp impressive, lol... not a bug tho imo, just the map seeming to be perfectly tailored with the easiest possible patterns for the spacing/speed and plenty of triples.
a solution to you pp whores out there really, is just to have eliminate OD1-10, and give Easy, Normal, Hard, Insane, Extra, and HR its own fixed OD value so maps will really give PP based on it's difficulty, not OD. just my opinion. and it should only increase OD if it's categorized as such difficulty. even if there's an extra but it's categorized as an Insane because it's not difficult enough, means that the OD shouldn't rise to Extra's OD! also prevents people from making forced extra, as in, unfitting extras.
I quite don't like that kind of theorys, especially from someone who can't play game well. Maps "overweighted" aren't harm since everyone can play them, BUT to be honest most people who talk shit about this just can't accomplish FC/good acc/both on said maps. I play for fun and that is what this game is for, calling people pp whores is simple showing that you care even more.
I'm not complaining about how the map gives a lot of PP, i'm just trying to provide a solution to those who B!tches about the PP being inflated due to OD.
But I really do think that, this would the "truest" way to judge how difficult a map can be. Difficulty shouldn't rely so much on OD.
btw.. PP whores referring to those who cares so much about PP that they complain about how this map gives so much PP. Me not included because my post was to eliminate that. I don't even play this game religiously anymore, only mapping. and me not being able to play the game as well as you do doesn't mean i can't give an input to the game or express what i think..... *sigh
It's sad that this many people care so much about the pp a map gives. Mappers spend a lot of time working, trying to make a perfect map that accurately represents the music in their own way. Then the map goes through months of modding, to work out any kinks, and sometimes to get an idea of what people dislike in your map. It's just sad that after all the detailed work a mapper puts in, it seems people only care about how many points it will give them, and they don't even give the quality of the beatmap a look. I wish people could appreciate a map for the map itself, rather than the points it yields.
tbh i worry about pp map gives, but even if it gives 1000, i don't think anyone would retry it a lot in a row unless it's a quality beatmap. take that as a compliment :^)
Well, not everybody only care about pp though. I believe there are still many people care about the quality of the map. Since this is a community, if you don't want to accept the result, just don't rank it.
Sorry, I know there are players that care about map quality, and those players are what keeps mappers motivated. I was just a little bothered when I was reading all these comments.
That's why we have 3 separate communities; Mappers, Players, and both (like Guy)
Players won't give a single fuck to your map honestly, they'd just either say nice map or map sucks 1/10 and since the majority of the people here are players and from what i've seen, many of them doesn't understand mapping as well as we do... you can't blame them, they're not interested in mapping, only playing.
I think in the end its ultimately up to the player's motivation of playing the map. Do you like the song of the beatmap? Do you like the way the beatmap is designed? Do you like the amount of pp the beatmap yields? It is due to this difference in motivations do we have different kind of players in the osu community.
As mappers, the best one can do is to keep pursuing the reason he is mapping. There will always be someone who appreciate the way the beatmap is designed, so hopefully their 'hidden' support will be motivation to keep mapping, and improve at it!
