needs in the title "(Cut Ver.)" since the original song lasts 4:19 and this is a version cut in half
At no point in the song is something russian heard, lyrics: https://genius.com/Mrkitty-after-dark-lyrics
The grayscale combo colors in general feel rather similar to me, especially 2 and 3. I feel like you could do much better with just 3 combo colors instead of 4, would be less ambiguous in general.
Is there any specific reason why the hitsounding is rather inconsistent in the verses? Talking about these whistles - 00:44:436 - 00:44:864 - 00:54:721 - 00:55:150 - etc. It seems that other than that you follow a consistent 2 whistles per measure, and these whistles feel genuinely out of place because they're just not added to the other measures. I'd either remove them (from both verses) or add them to all measures, which might make the whistle hitsound sound quite spammy, so I'd prefer removing them.
uhh well, i see the whole set and i noticed a small conflict about the spread btw.. being directly at the point, i feel your top diff (Eternal bliss
) have a large usage of overdone or high jumps onto 1/2 rhythms compositions as example kiai parts 00:58:364 - at 01:24:936 - / 01:53:221 - at 02:20:650 -
"technically speaking" isn't a problem in certain way, but you have a scenario which the hard diff
make a small introduction
on the jumps present on the kiai/chrous and leaves a large gap burst beetwen the diffs.
for that case leaves this into 2 possible solutions
1- most simple> considerably nerfing the distance usage used on kiai of the top diff, such as >> 01:04:793 (5,6,1) - /01:10:686 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - /01:03:936 (3,4) - /01:18:507 (5,6,1) - / 01:21:078 (2,3) - /01:24:507 (3,4) - / 01:14:221 (2,3) - / 01:59:650 (5,6,1) - / 02:02:221 (2,3) - /02:05:543 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1) - / 02:13:364 (5,6,1) - / 02:19:257 (2,3,4,5,1) -
taking a overlook on mapset verify you can see the visible gap what i'm talking about
2- the another solution is making another diff with both aspects present on hard and top diff, sounds like a light insane
i kinda recommend the first one for more flexible fixing, but this requires as drastic nerf to complement that
i talking about the kiais, i think you missed some like a lot? as (00:58:364 - / 00:58:793 - / 01:00:507 (2) - / 01:01:150 - / 01:02:221 - / 01:03:936 (3) - / 01:04:578 - and etc.. on both kiais
i think its a bit weird to have no blue combo color when most of the bg is blue. i like the combo color change in the kiai vs verses btw!
ye I can see that. My goal was to give the chorus as much impact as possible with the combo color switch, so I opted to contrast the bg with the red, pink, and purple, which also fits the synthwave aesthetic. For the verses, I stuck with grayscale as another way to increase the impact with the sudden addition of color. If I did add blue it would be a slight tint to the grays, but I'd rather leave them with no color for the reasons I stated.
w/o yap: I prefer contrast over following the bg to add visual impact.
Some hitsounds feel out place and some sections aren't even hitsounded. For example, for your hard diff, 01:32:007 (6) - you used a whistle here, but it honestly doesn't fit imo. This issue might be present in other diffs to, but I'm not sure, so I would take a look at that.
Yeah, i tried to keep the verses simple, but it ended up just sounding empty; added whistles and claps. 01:32:007 (6) and other instances now make more sense with added whistles.
