Right now each profile is limited to 50 map favorites... why. I seriously don't think this adds any server load compared to more text in your signature or whatever. Please let us add more than 50 favorites.

I'm actually checking maps regularly and already have over 200 mapsets I'd like to place a fav on.

I think the idea of limiting the online favourites is to maintain their value. With the supply limited, seeing a mapset with hundreds of people favouriting means something. When the number of new mapsets gets sufficiently large and peppy notices, it will probably go up again.

I dig a lot and check a ton of maps all the time. My favs are hardpicked from many and really deserve it. I want to support mapper with +1 fav on their map when it deserves it but there's too many awesome maps today and it feels wrong to have to pick only a few.
To be honest, there is a very low number of unranked Maps which makes attention over their Favorite number. And mostly, Maps gets after the rank the attention, aka Fav, etc.Aqo wrote:

peppy has all ready stated that he wants a limit on this number to make you really think about which maps are your favorites. 50 should be enough for now

The overall amount of maps is increasing A LOT lately, and there's a ton of new maps I'd like to add to my favs as an easier reference for people looking for great fun maps. You definitely need more than 50 today. More like 200-300. And this is after a ton of consideration and filtering over 4000 different playtested maps.peppy wrote:

Experienced mappers are also able to produce more new extremely good maps faster, and there's quite some active experienced mappers right now.
I can't just replace one map I like for new maps I like anymore. No possible. Need a higher limit.
how many people even need 200-300 favorites. that's way more than what is needed. hell how many people have even filled up all 50 slots?
20 was already too much for me to fill to begin with. maybe my standards are too high.
and my favorites also aren't filled with hard things either. Sometimes i honestly feel like since the song is hard then it's automatically awesome, aqo. I know it's not really completely true, but yes (for example) saten's maps are good, but i would not favorite them, because they are not epically mapped and are not super epic songs.
my favorites are kinda outdated tho. and i don't really agree with what i have there lol

take a look at my favorites, a lot of my favs are not hard at all; I don't fav based on what is hard, I fav based on what map is beautiful and fun and I'd recommend to others. imo there's really a lot of really-good maps now and the list limit has to be extended.winber1 wrote:

don't know how you can say stuff like Assailant or Creator or Chinden is not epic, anyway. has amazing flow, fits the song great, looks professional and slick, everything about it is great and I can't hope for better possible maps in this game

the songs aren't most amazing thing ever. I have taste in music i guess, but for song to be on my favorite, it has to be at a song where if I randomly find it/hear it/f2 it, i just HAVE TO PLAY IT CUZ IT'S THAT SONG... well for the most part.Aqo wrote:

I guess I must be one of the very few people in this game that don't like most of the music and don't give a damn about it and only play for the maps :'s
Who cares about who favorites what map?
It makes them easier to find to play again.
What purpose does a maximum amount even remotely serve other than irritating people by not allowing them to remember fun maps outside of making a notepad document? (which is what i do, lol) Think logically people.

Well I'm already using notepad documentation like Unkind said for my own listing. I just don't understand why the site limit is restricted. Sharing fun maps through fav'ing them is important in helping those maps get approved, too, by making other people notice them and spread the attention to them.Luna wrote:

Feels like 50 songs is a bit to much would be hard to find with all those beatmaps in there.

I stopped adding favorites after 20 because the old limit (then accidentally removed favorites while mis-tapping on my smart-phone lol)
I didn't even know the limit was set to 50 (yes, shame on me)
One weird thing is that you can add your own submitted maps to favorites
the list is fine for now imo.50 maps is a lot, I think you should be happy with that.

I guess more to the point is what do we use online favourites for? If it is as I intended (to let other players know what you like) then it should be limited; noone is going to sit and read a list of 1,000 maps.

it used to be a lot a year ago maybe. but the amount of experienced and active mappers has exponentially grown as of late and not only that a lot more maps are being submitted but also a lot more of them are great quality maps that stand far on top of the majority/rest.
Please increase the limit to at least 200 to be more relevant for today's amount of beatmap sets. This doesn't hurt anybody and it's as easy to implement as changing one constant number somewhere, so why not

Aqo, I have the feeling you don't really understand the term "favourite". You just cannot have 50 "favourite" maps. Favourite maps have to be something special, they can only be a very few, they have to be far superior compared to the average map. Just being good doesn't make a map one of your favourite ones.
If the category would be renamed from "favourite maps" to let's say "recommended maps" then I'd agree with you, then there shoudn't be a limit. But as long as they are called "favourite" maps the limit shouldn't be increased.

i like how aqo says that there are tons of great new maps around, yet i don't really download that many anymore since i feel that maps are getting worse. hooray for opinions.

lets say somebody has only 100 maps.
He can have maybe 5 favorites out of those. 50 will really not make sense.
But with 1000 maps, 50 can be favorites. They're still hard-picked from a very large amount.
I download pending maps all the time and check out a ton of maps nonstop. I'm aware most people don't do this; but there's still A LOT of maps today, and a lot of maps worthy of a special spot.
Well, I think there is a maximum of maps a person can have as favourites. The more maps someone plays the stricter his criterias will become for a map to become a favourite map. Every now and then I check my favourite maps and decide to remove some since they cannot hold my criterias anymore. Ofcourse if you have only 100 maps you will also only have like 5 favourites. But at some point the number of favourites just can't go up anymore. 50 maps just _can_not_ be favourites. This is would be against the meaning of the word favourite.

There's a difference between maps that you like, and maps that are your favourite, really imo favourite should be like only a single map, the best of them all in the player's opinion, but well we get 50 so...
fwiw when i started playing the max favourites was 20, and i barely needed it, then after long fighting peppy decided to increase it to 50, i highly doubt this number will be going up anytime soon.
