There's always favourites A and B.
Works fine for ranked maps, but when editing the map (Pending/WIP), it'll disappear :V

I stopped adding favorites after 20 because the old limit (then accidentally removed favorites while mis-tapping on my smart-phone lol)
I didn't even know the limit was set to 50 (yes, shame on me)

One weird thing is that you can add your own submitted maps to favorites

the list is fine for now imo.50 maps is a lot, I think you should be happy with that.

50 maps isn't a lot anymore
it used to be a lot a year ago maybe. but the amount of experienced and active mappers has exponentially grown as of late and not only that a lot more maps are being submitted but also a lot more of them are great quality maps that stand far on top of the majority/rest.

Please increase the limit to at least 200 to be more relevant for today's amount of beatmap sets. This doesn't hurt anybody and it's as easy to implement as changing one constant number somewhere, so why not

deadbeat edit: I'm not going to deny this. this will mostly likely be added at a later date. but not yet.

I'm sick and tired of having to remove a map from favs to add a new one; there's way more than 50 truly amazing maps today that are hard to decide which is 0.001% subjectively better and it would only benefit users to be able to fav them all.

I also like looking at the favorites lists of other users who favorited the same maps as me (to find new maps that are likely to be relevant to my interests) and noticed others who've hit the 50 limit as well. please increase the limit. to at least 200. this is not 2009 anymore, where you barely had 10k maps and barely 2 of them were good; there's a lot of active experienced mappers today who spawn stunningly amazing maps at a steady rate and even picking between those is hard in itself, the limit of 50 is waaaay too restrictive for today

Aqo, I have the feeling you don't really understand the term "favourite". You just cannot have 50 "favourite" maps. Favourite maps have to be something special, they can only be a very few, they have to be far superior compared to the average map. Just being good doesn't make a map one of your favourite ones.

If the category would be renamed from "favourite maps" to let's say "recommended maps" then I'd agree with you, then there shoudn't be a limit. But as long as they are called "favourite" maps the limit shouldn't be increased.

Maybe one should replace favourite maps with recommended maps?

i like how aqo says that there are tons of great new maps around, yet i don't really download that many anymore since i feel that maps are getting worse. hooray for opinions.

anyway. the number of favorites will most likely be increased at some point when time when peppy agrees to this :p

if your really using your favorite maps list for this then your doing it wrong. you have a userpage for stuff like that. plus it would be more effective sharing it with friends in-game or playing them in multiplayer so other people play them

I think, the misconception here is that...

lets say somebody has only 100 maps.

He can have maybe 5 favorites out of those. 50 will really not make sense.

But with 1000 maps, 50 can be favorites. They're still hard-picked from a very large amount.

I download pending maps all the time and check out a ton of maps nonstop. I'm aware most people don't do this; but there's still A LOT of maps today, and a lot of maps worthy of a special spot.

Well, I think there is a maximum of maps a person can have as favourites. The more maps someone plays the stricter his criterias will become for a map to become a favourite map. Every now and then I check my favourite maps and decide to remove some since they cannot hold my criterias anymore. Ofcourse if you have only 100 maps you will also only have like 5 favourites. But at some point the number of favourites just can't go up anymore. 50 maps just _can_not_ be favourites. This is would be against the meaning of the word favourite.

Recommended maps - yes. Favourite maps - no.

If you have too many you can't really call them favorites anymore.
And just having more than 1000 beatmaps doesn't mean that you'll have more favorites.

That's like saying I've got more than 1000 people so I'll need more kings. Implying that 50 kings wasn't already enough.

Personally, I don't even have online favorites, that's what i use favorites A for.
And favorites B are just extremely hard taiko maps.

There's a difference between maps that you like, and maps that are your favourite, really imo favourite should be like only a single map, the best of them all in the player's opinion, but well we get 50 so...

fwiw when i started playing the max favourites was 20, and i barely needed it, then after long fighting peppy decided to increase it to 50, i highly doubt this number will be going up anytime soon.

the main purpose of faving a beatmap now is to get the BAT's attention to rank a map

We can pretty much use collection to organize the beatmaps now

If you're asking me: "Who is your favourite artist", I wouldn't come up with a list of 100 names. Most people don't have that either. Favouriting nowadays only seems to be there to 'save' maps in case you lose all maps, or to appreciate the map. There is nothing to be sad about

I have added many song to Fav list cuz when I wipe my Hard Drive or I play Osu! in a friend's house I have a backup but I would like to "save" more than 100 maps,anyway , I know there are more options to save/backup maps but I still preferring Osu!'s fav map list
