Hi, I'm expanding my branch in rhythm games and decided to play OSU more.
I downloaded a skin pack to make it look like stepmania but the arrows are a bit off. Instead of Left Down Up Right, it shows the arrow as Left Up Down Right and it keeps throwing me off. Is there any way to fix that?

Also, is there a way to make it so that the note color corresponds to the timing of the note(like, make quarter notes red, eighth notes blue, sixteenth notes purple, etc..)?

Finally, I want to know if there are packs or notable beatmap makers known to make keyboardish charts akin to stepmania. Currently I'm playing songs that are way too easy and I don't know what songs are challenging.

for your question as to the ordering of the arrows, open the skin's folder and look for a file called skin.ini. You should find a section similar to this:

There you would just swap out the images into a different order to match stepmania.

As for timing based coloring, that isn't a thing as far as i know. I've only ever seen column-based colors.

A lot of packs (yolomania, jumpstream of fighters, fullereneshift) have all or most of their charts on osu! in one form or another. a lot of mappers also appear to map for both, so searching for any given stepmania mapper should yield results

Etterna is a fork of stepmania with a lot of changes. A lot of people consider it strictly better than stepmania in pretty much every way. It's got it's own online system, leaderboards, difficulty calculations for charts, and tons of other features.

Another thing, some of the song packs I downloaded from Post #2 I played and it said there was no global ranking? Is there a way to change that?

Some maps aren't ranked (or loved, which also have leaderboards) and thus you can only play for local scores. Though arguably, most of the better maps are unranked.

Thats really the best you can do, I don't know of a way to sort to just 4key maps. There aren't a lot of ranked osu!mania maps, one solution is to download all of the ranked maps and then sort ingame with keys=4 status=ranked. This process is a lot easier if you use the ingame map downloader (osu!direct), though that requires having a paid supporter subscription.

Its worth noting that the majority of the ranked 5-6star 4key maps are oriented around jacks and LNs, your placement on ranked maps is largely irrelevant as multiple skillsets aren't represented in the ranked map pool.

Use the Order By menu with Star as the option to sort by difficulty. Note that you can restrict the list to only show you maps in a certain difficulty range as well, allowing you to filter out easier stuff.

Yes, the term Long Note comes from o2jam and refers to holds.
