Problem details:
After updating my MacBook Pro to Catalina, I can't see any responses after clicking the app.

According to peppy, it might be impossible to play osu! through wine on Catalina: https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/posts/7148156

You might still be able to try out the wrapper that he made, but I have no idea if it works (most likely not if it's a wine issue). https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/posts/7140911

Probably not what you want to hear, but if it makes things any better, you might be able to use osu!lazer as well for the time being. You can't submit scores, but at least you get the cool lazer experience (it's pretty fun).

Lmao I thought my osu just broke down on me, it was just this Catalina update. Is there even another way of playing osu besides osu Lazer on Catalina. They really need fix issue bc I wanna play lol :/

You need to wait for Wine to be fixed, which has no ETA.

There is the option of opsu! which uses Java and can run on macOS: https://itdelatrisu.github.io/opsu/. However the graphics and features are different.

I assume that there is a particular reason they don't want to use lazer (score submission probably). If you are willing to play opsu! you might as well just use lazer considering it's pretty damn close to the current stable client already.

I have the same issue probably a bug with Catalina and not OSU! I don't know if they are working on a fix but i really hope they do.

does anyone know if wine will update and fix

Wine will probably not update to 64 bit anytime soon, as of now the only options are installing windows via bootcamp, using a VM or trying to get another wrapper for windows applications running the game.

You see, I'd love to run it on a VM but it's saying my graphics aint good enough or something

if you're that desperate there is a way to reinstall mojave so you can play again:

just put any important files on a new disk (make new disk in disk utility)/use an external hard drive and download mojave with this link https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-mojave/id1398502828?mt=12

Is there any harm to your Mac for just going back an update
Psyo
I just spent the last 4 hours trying to reinstall Mojave. If you have never done this before (like me) it may seem very confusing because there are many steps in order to go back to Mojave. I followed this website https://www.imore.com/how-downgrade-macos , it gives step by step directions on how to uninstall Catalina and install Mojave. Make sure you back up all your important files first. Turns out I am an idiot and decided not to do this which was a big mistake, I ended up doing one of the steps wrong which deleted every bit of data on my mac. Before you do this it does take a good amount of time. If everything went correctly for me it would have taken 2 hours because downloading the update and putting it onto the thumb-drive takes some time. In the end I do have Mojave, but it seems a little glitchy to me, but this is most likely due to the mistake I made that I mentioned earlier. I downloaded osu and it does work so that's a plus. I played a few maps and everything seemed to be running pretty smooth. If you do everything correctly it should work out fine, but if you mess up the direction like I did and your mac breaks then well it aint my fault.

im just gonna wait use a VM because to me it seems like the best choice then downgrading or using bootcamp. I was mad though when I found out it was Catalina making osu not work. I literally spent an hour trying to figure out why osu! wasn't working

cmon, I recently sold my windows pc and switched to xbox and Mac so that I can still play osu!. and now I'm not able to do so since they haven't released a working version for Catalina in 4 month? dude wtf

You can try one of the numerous workarounds that were mentioned in this thread for the time being.

We just have to wait and see ig
kyakugon
there are a lot of workarounds but are you able to play ranked/with your friends with the workarounds? im pretty sure osu lazer doesn't work for that iirc since it's still beta. im surprised that even half a year later there's still no way to play osu through wine on mac. this really sucks lol
