To be honest, in my plan for today was to create this thread. I, too, now came up with this idea, but somewhat differently. I would hotoel to the total time spent online, and when connected to a solo Bancho summarized and placed in a player's profile information.

I don't really see any major need for this, and it's not as though time played = skill level or anything. I think it would only be useful as a 'personal interest' type thing, and you could just about use xfire for the time spent playing ALL modes.

There are benefits however, it would make it easier to track multi-accounts and hackers. While I agree It's not anything majorly needed but for reference its nice to know how much time other players spend in-game playing osu! as well as tracking progress to determine an estimated time where your own skill will reach a certain level. Play count sometimes only determines how many times the retry button is pressed.Azure_Kite wrote:

That's what I like about Steam, they count your gameplay hours. I'd love this feature.

I would want this because it's easyer to see if someone got a older acc (so called a multiaccer)

If ever the current system didn't store the total online time of all users from the start, a yearly implementation could still be useful ^.^ which means that starting at 2013, all users' online time will be stored and displayed on his/her profile.

Is this a request for "online time" of for actual "playing time"
tons of ppl just afk for hours while doing other stuff, It wouldn't be accurate at all.

But yeah, it'd only be effective from the day it's implemented, so about 1 year after it gets implemented, people might get confused why players like Cookiezi has 0 hours of played time, etc

Having a total time played value on profiles next to play count would be neat - play count seems to get inflated pretty drastically for people who spam retry.

I support this idea, maybe have a counter for past week/fortnight as well?
Having total time playing maps (including offline) is nice in that it evens out numbers for people who play offline. There might be an issue since logging on is the only way to verify your identity though, although I don't think people who play enough are people who share their osu stations with others.
If this is to be implemented something has to address that this won't be accurate for long-time users. I don't think peppy will consider this otherwise. Maybe it'd have to be a "total playtime this month" graph like in play history on the user page, sort of like what mrdumpling64 said.

My question is would failed and retried plays be counted into this? Because those take up a lot of my play time >.<
