A mod is feedback that aims to improve a beatmap. Important word, improve doesn't means to make it as the modder wish, but to improve concepts used by the mapper.

I mean... it's a trivial answer : mod other people maps. Give feedback to other mappers using the discussion page of their map (moddingv2). And if you want to know where to find maps to mod, in-game #modreqs is active and then there is the modding queue sub-forum (what is a modding queue).
