Whenever I play on my laptop, I usually make around 130 pp plays. However, when I played on the school computer (it has a big desktop monitor), I went godmode and made almost 200pp plays. I feel like on a bigger monitor everything seems easier to read. Is this just a placebo effect or is a bigger monitor better.

The difference could simply be note size. Maybe try a skin with larger notes.
My guess would be the higher resolution for the monitor helped with the sudden increase in skill, also the quality of the monitor matters, like how you get ghosting on low end monitors when you have a high scroll speed, also the larger size does help (for me at least). My recommendation is to invest in a good monitor to plug in the laptop.
