Music on osu! has affect me in a big way.

1) I know about Ellie Goulding before she became popular in the US.
2) I knew about Florence and The Machine before she/they became popular in the US
3) I knew about Adele before she became popular in the US
4) I found out about some of my Favorite asian singers. BoA and Girls' Generation :D
5) I would have never have known about Touhou if it wasn't for osu!
Shellghost
Oh no, osu! made you a hipster.

osu! made me stop listening for lyrics in music and instead start listening to all of the other parts which make it up.

osu! has affected me on music alot.

  1. Without it, I wouldn't have known Beatmania, DDR, jubeat and Bemani artists
  2. Of course, I wouldn't have known the existence of touhou itself.
  3. Discovery of BMS songs
  4. Discovery of vocaloids
  5. Discovery of Renard, Queenstons, and the rest of laptox trax team's songs
  6. Most of the animes I watched currently were influenced by the ops in osu!

x3, though this is usually only when I play osu! though.

Edit: Discovered Nightcore and Touhou music. And a multitude of of songs worthy of my private music collection. Plus some really weird sh!t that I never knew could've existed (nyan cat song is one of the many that comes to mind).

Also, title correction: How has music on osu! affect
ed you?

Discovered Wiklund and Unicorn Kid, and now I have quite a few other chiptune artists on my playlist.
mathexpert
Discovered Meg & Dia, some random but cool techno/trance songs. Also nightcore, never heard it before I discovered osu! o_0
Jinxy
Discovered touhou and sparked my interest in other rhythm games. Before osu I didn't even listen to much music, now I listen to a lot of instrumentals.
Valentiino
Began hating nightcore even more.
Hatsune Miku gives me daily headaches now.
Now know how overrated most of the anime OPs/EDs are.
Began to appreciate my electronic music much more.
osu! has made my music life suckier than it was before osu! :( Disregard that, I dunno
SunriseSorrow
Affected me pretty well~
• Introduced to Touhou
• Found out the true popularity of Hatsune Miku?
• My brain processes quicker (due to the insane diffs ._.)
• A New Hobby ;)
silmarilen
hasnt really affected me that much, sure i learned a couple of new artists, but its not like i suddenly liked new music because of osu!
i already knew touhou and vocaloid music before i started playing osu!
Cloudy
Mainly I discovered a couple more artists in electronic music and gained a general dislike for nightcore mixes and vocaloid songs. Though I should add that osu! has got me to try out new songs I wouldn't bother to listen to otherwise.
NotShinta
Technically, osu! could be credited with introducing me to OK Go, Imogen Heap (and by extension a lot of my library, e.g. Temposhark, Regina Spektor), Electric Six, Sia and Meg & Dia, most of which have been my favouritebandevah at some point. And plenty of other artists I was only mildly interested in but was very interested in after some osu! beatmaps.

That, and it made me mentally map out tons of songs while listening to them. Also EBA basically invented my interest in music so yeah

None.

Schlager all the way.

- was introduced to vocaloid, touhou & nico nico douga.
- saying "oh, that song on osu was from this anime" whenever I pick up an old anime series.
- now, I seldom listen to music outside of osu, except from radio stations while driving or recommended by someone
- discovered the sexyness of 1/3's

only notable downside is that now I don't have most of the mainstream songs my friends want to listen to since I don't have/download them
vizzy
It made me want to download more songs by Chata, and some by Owl City. I also found out about the Toki wo Kizamu Uta -Trance Remix-.
dNextGen
-it makes me listen to loads of breakcore and electronic music shits
-found out how annoying hatsune miku is
-makes me think that all music that is not electronically produced are shit
pacmanmania
Introduced me to Noisestorm and began liking DnB

Music on osu! has affect me in a big way.

1) I'm learning english anyway :)
2) I hate Nightcore
3) 85% of my songs in my movil phone are from osu!
4) I'm an addict at the osu! forums *stalk*
5) I hate mostly asian songs (Touhou, Vocaloid, Op, End, Meh songs)
6) Nothing, I really love this game.
7) I have a pippy's plushie, and I'm thinking about a osu! T-shirt and Bag :)

Discovery of the "visual novel"

May bless be cast upon those who have brung here the Demetori's songs! Without them I'd not know of such fine music ;) Other likes of mine? Some vocaloid songs and other R&M ones. Dislikes? Nightcore's #1 here, eastern pop placing as second. Come on folks, get some good western stuff here!

Until I played osu! I mainly only listened to power / death metal. Now I like most Trance and DnB songs.
TKiller
osu! is probably one of the reasons I moved from metal/rock to hard/speedcore electronica even though the amount of it here is close to none. At least the amount of songs relevant to my current tastes is.

Also it made me sad that I didn't know about Yousei Teikoku back when I was listening to Evanescence/Within Temptation/Sirenia/... Could be a great addition, but now it's sorta late.

Last, but not least, I've never heard Himiko before I played it here even though I was already starting to get into beatmania by that time. It's one of my most favourite songs now, probably listened to over 1,5k times if you add the osu! playcount.
hillaryzx
I found that osu! may have the songs that I like compare to watching TV and download the songs...
It seems that osu! has big affect on me.. :D
bmin11
Without osu! musics, I wouldn't have known of Miku, Touhou, and a whole lots of animes, like monogatari series for example. I can actually recognize some Touhou characters now. I don't get confused between Rin (vocaloid) and Lucky Star anymore as well. Not sure if this is a good sign or not, but I'm gaining knowledge at least lol

My taste on music also changed. I used to just listen to none other then K-Pops and some few Band musics. After I met osu!, it changed into Drum 'N' Bass and sorts. I don't know which music hooked me up first, but I think it was Mei or MENDES.
Kana
im a musician and although i play osu now i feel the rythem in any type of genre. I also get to see more anime and virtual novels which is also epic =3

When I started I was one of those hardcore death metal koo keeds.
Now I love all types of music.
Thanks osu! <3

Until I played osu! I never realized that I love Japanese songs! And, I discovered "Touhou' osu!
awp
osu! has had very little impact on me musically, but I've found a few things to my liking like Stam1na, turmion kätilöt and The Funeral Orchestra (granted I didn't find out about these bands by them being mapped in osu!). And Diablo Swing Orchestra, assuming it was CheeseWarlock who told me about them and not somebody else. Can't really remember.
