Ga-Rei Zero. Why this wasn't mentioned before is beyong even me...
All I can say, watch it. I'm on my 8th rewatch of that now

Guro is only used when referring to hentai/ero. Not anime.ritaniner wrote:
Another. bur i think Another is full of guro scene, not really horror at all.
You've read my mind. I also said the same damn thing to friends of mine.Sinistro wrote:
Another is, unfortunately, pretty dumb. It has a good atmosphere over the first few episodes, but then it becomes Final Destination: The Anime, with a "mystery"
^ dis. well Another, more than horror its the most intriguing anime -.- The blood is not fresh red anyway :<ritaniner wrote:

Ironically, when I recommended Another to some friends I used Final Destination as a way of explaining what to expect. As far as unrealistic behavior... I can see that, but I don't think it was too bad. I enjoyed it, anyway.Sinistro wrote:

If you consider the ending I suppose it counts as horror.Waryas wrote:
add school days to horror anime then
Elfen Lied is a bit excessive, the first episode usually drives away alot of people. But if you do end up watching the whole thing, its actually a pretty nice anime.YOUDONTKNOW111 wrote:
Elfen lied,my friend. It will scare the living fuzz out of you.

A new one just came out about 2 weeks ago, called "Another." Mystery-horror, and designs by Noizi Ito (from Haruhi Suzumiya and Shakugan no Shana.) I haven't watched it yet, but I'm planning to.
Plot:SPOILER26 years ago, in a third-year classroom of a middle school, there was a student named Misaki. As an honors student who was also good at sports, the charming girl was popular with her classmates. When she suddenly died, her classmates decided to carry on as if she was still alive until graduation. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Kōichi Sakakibara transfers to that classroom, and he grows suspicious of the fearful atmosphere in that classroom. In particular, there is a beautiful, aloof girl named Misaki Mei who wears an eyepatch and is always alone drawing pictures.
I'd suppose everyone (who're watching it) were shocked with the fact there's blood in an adaptation of an eroge visual novel. (Hell, there's blood in that thing as well)Mantiz wrote:
One episode doesn't make it a horror anime.
Plus, there is just gore and a lots of blood in the last episode, what is horror about that?
Exactly.The Ribbon Red wrote:
Horror is where even the atmosphere is killing you.
Now that's just obvious, isn't it?Accelerator-kun wrote:
If you loved Higurashi and Umineko you will probably enjoy Mirai Nikki.
True, but I really don't feel them as much as Higurashi though (probably because of the fanservice, and I'm looking it through the manga side).Accelerator-kun wrote:
Also, it's not a real horror, but Elfen Lied has a very heavy atmosphere and a lot of strong scenes.
That's because Higurashi make you love all characters, then when they suffer you feel it twiceThe Ribbon Red wrote:

Oh god, it's true. They show the cute side first to make you love them, then traps you and begin torturing them in each arcs.Accelerator-kun wrote:

Eh, it did? Never noticed. There's fanservice, but I've never watched any kind of ecchi in it.Mantiz wrote:
Isn't ecchi present in Higurashi as well? If not, I may give it a try.
Well, I guess this one's a rare case. It's more on gore and mystery (much more intense mystery) rather than H (So far as episode 9, and that's about 3 arcs already).Mantiz wrote:
I just watched one episode, so I am not a reliable source.
But since it is a harem anime, makes sense to have some ecchi.
Elfen Lied again? Are we really searching for horror or H?Mantiz wrote:
Although I doubt it is in the same level as Elfen Lied; The ecchi in this anime is ridiculous.
Higurashi is more like a kawaii horror <3 not so ecchi, except for the higurashi no naku koro ni kiraMantiz wrote:
