Hello Guys, I would like to inform you about this upcoming web based game named "Sentou Gakuen" (戦闘 学園, 'Combat School'). The Open Beta date (29 December 2011) is still 4 days from now, but I'll post the thread and will keep it updated till that date so that you won't lose start so what is this game?

Sentou Gakuen is the very first Online Visual Novel that combined with MMORPG elements. Developed by Indonesia indie developer team named, "PS(T_T)eam".

Sentou Gakuen primarily takes place in a fictional school called Sentou High School, which is located somewhere in Tokyo. Physical locales of Tokyo such as Shibuya Scramble Crossing and Wako Shop at Ginza can be spotted in the game. When the story begins, the player will take their role as a new freshman student at Sentou High School where they will meet new friends as their journey begins.

Unlike most visual novels, the visual novel portion of Sentou Gakuen gets updated daily since it is part of a living community; the visual novel also affects online gameplay. Not only that, the visual novel of Sentou Gakuen is an ongoing story that, with time and players' support, will go beyond the expectations of traditional visual novels. Furthermore, the community of Sentou Gakuen may also have influence on how the stories of play out. Since it contains MMORPG elements, the players interact with the visual novel world, because only with players will there be protagonists in the world of Sentou Gakuen.

-You are the protagonist of this story-

In Sentou Gakuen, you are free to choose your own path. You can just study and study, doing bad things at school, protect the weak, or exploit their weakness. Spend your money to help your friends, or horde it, they can take care of themselves. Form a club and become the most respected group of students in the school. Declare war on an enemy, or an innocent bystander, the choice is yours.

Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of role-playing video games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world. As in all RPGs, players assume the role of a character (in this case, a student) and take control over many of that character's actions. MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player RPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is offline and away from the game.

How about visual novel? A visual novel is an interactive fiction game featuring mostly static graphics, usually with anime-style art, or occasionally live-action stills or video footage. As the name might suggest, they resemble mixed-media novels or tableau vivant stage plays. This will be the very first Online Visual Novel that ever exist.

The concept of this game will be similar like that, combining both visual novel and mmorpg in one. Just like usual mmorpg, player will have each stats. To increase stats they have to take some lessons and attending class (For example if you want to increase your strength you have to take PE Physical Education class). Another stats are such as Energy, its required if you want to do training. Willpower, this is the efficiency of your actions. Will would be bigger if you bought a more luxurious dorm room. Action Points, you need this to perform actions. Experience, progress of the levelling. Health, if u run out of this you will be sent to infimary.

There are "Story Mode", where the story of the game will be told in Visual Novel-way. The tutorial part also will be explained in this mode. The story mode, are optional, this will be you might say 'Quests'. Players are free whether to do it or not. After the player finished the story, the game didn't ended, but they can continue the game, thus this game is open ended

More Explanations
As for money, there are various ways to get this. The good way are obtaining it through part time job or studying. The bad way are obtained through brave-taking actions such as peeping at girls and then sell the photos, steal the exams answer and then sell it to your friends, or etc. But beware this can make you imprisoned at Detention Center. In order to protect yourself (Or PvP cases), the students can equipt theirselves with deadly weapons such as pencils, ball point pens, tweezers, rulers, staplers, scissors, pepper spray or etc. And armors. For more intense gameplay, the students can form their clubs which require some fees to be established. Clubs are a group of students that band together to work for a common purpose.

Additional notes, there are special club where the members are appointed specially by staff such as :
-Newspaper club, they are in charge of publishing School Newspapers
-Disciplinary Committee, alias moderator, they will be in charge to keep the game clean.

Seems fairly interesting, not entirely sold on the MMO aspect as visual novels are enjoyable due to the fact you can go after whoever, whenever you want without having to worry about many parameters.

Yeah you grinding your battle stats by doing physical education, grinding IQ by studying, battling another students (pvp), Well I guess you have to wait 4 more days to see what it's going to looks like.

The Dating System here is quite interesting. The player can choose whether they want to be in relationship with another students (another players) or NPC Characters from Visual Novel. This action can be done by confessing, putting love letter on shoe locker. However if you want to date NPC Characters you have to win their affection points, and how to raise the affection points? by giving items and or raising certain stats or etc. However, 1 NPC can only date 1 user with the highest affection points towards him/her, so for example you date with 'Widya Wulandari' this week (because you have the highest affection points to her amongst another player), then by the end of the week if someone else has bigger Widya's Affection Points, she will broke up with you and confess to him/her instead. So you have to maintain your affection points even after you won her.

PS: Yaoi and Yuri relationships here are allowed

Another information on Clubs,
Clubs are player driven, and if you want to form one you have to fill a form on student council, and need 3 more initial members. The Club president can hold club activities depending on how big the club is (members), starting from simply helping teacher and up to doing fundraising.

On closed beta there are some interesting clubs, such as Red Tails which only allow female members join the forum.

It looks to be MMO the same way Kingdom of Loathing is MMO, rather than something like WoW.

I'm not sure if I'd want to come home after a day of school and subsequently spend my free time simulating a school environment, but interesting concept.

The game does trying to imitate school life environment (anime school life environtment), but not imitate your school life environtment because I'm sure it will be boring as hell. lol,

Nevertheless, I'm up for at least trying it for at least..2 weeks maybe.

Reading a text wiki doesn't seem to grasp the full concept at how the game might be so...I might play this with someone else in Open Beta.

Good path are geared towards exp. studying, etc, will get you +IQ stat.
Bad path are geared towards money. bad actions has no stat bonus.

Good path will give you +karma, this will randomly give you good event.
Bad path will give you -karma, this will randomly give you bad event, such as fall from the stairs, get hit by a car, someone spits at you, or other unlucky events that will get you into infirmary

So up to you to decide

Yeah, secondary currency. However you can purchase it with real money, but there's also several methods of getting it.
