The idea of this is to allow mappers to manually set a spinner's difficulty.
For example, if you feel like the OD settings are too harsh for long spinners you could reduce the required RPM to clear the spinner.

This would find a big use in re-introducing old ninja spinners, by making them playable with a very low RPM value.
Having access to playable ninja spinners grants mappers a cool new element to work with, which of course would need new rules / guidelines.
This is one of the few things that -could- be brought in with this feature.

TL;DR: Ability to set difficulty of spinners manually if they are out of line with the OD settings.

The idea of this proposal is controversial, so please contribute your opinion or leave a post if you have something to add.

would get rid of hr-passing difficulties on certain maps without much of a hassle if this was a thing. I like that idea as it would make maps such as augoeides more accessible

Agreed, this idea could really block drama that only occur because of spinners - support, because I don't see any disadvantages with that.

Also, just a note, the idea with ninja spinners can be disregarded completely, it was merely something that -could- be brought into mapping if the feature was implemented.

I'll use this post to add a few points that GoldenWolf brought up to me:
16:42 GoldenWolf: I think it's a feature that could potentially be cool, but won't be implemented for various reasons
16:42 GoldenWolf: as with nearly all other potentially cool features
16:45 GoldenWolf: the main reason I'm expecting against that feature is that it could be abusable
16:46 GoldenWolf: second reason is that people don't like spinners
16:46 GoldenWolf: even less ninja spinners, and long ass out spinners
16:46 GoldenWolf: so a feature that would make them appear more frequently won't be welcomed
16:48 GoldenWolf: people don't like spinners because they require no rhythm
16:48 GoldenWolf: even less ninja spinner, because they feel pointless
16:48 GoldenWolf: if you have to only give minimal effort to do them, what's the point?
16:49 GoldenWolf: they also don't like them because they can barely react to
16:49 GoldenWolf: and they aren't interactive
16:50 GoldenWolf: "why using a ninja spinner when you could use a funky shaped slider instead?"
16:52 GoldenWolf: what kind of spinner do you need to make easier with this feature?
16:52 GoldenWolf: Long ass spinner, and ninja spinners
16:52 GoldenWolf: you don't need to make other spinners easier

Some of the questions he brought up are hard to answer, so as it stands the point that Okorin brought up might be one of the few reasons that actually matter.

As a side note, I'd like to see this feature implemented. I simply tried to bring up the cons, because it's important to be aware of them from the get-go and start finding eventual tweaks or solutions to any problem this could bring. Anything that could go against this feature is as good to talk about as anything that would go toward it.

Why are you afraid of "abuse"? I am sure a mapper with common sense and someone which knows the ropes won't use them wrong with the attempt to get it ranked. Else you leave this to the BNG and modders.

I see the reason behind - because it's justified but I don't really know if that ever happens. The only real problem occurs at high OD so maybe HR should be changed at this point? idk

Tbh I don't see this request being different from the suggestion regarding Score v2 that there's a more lenient slidertype to ease acc at spots where it can't be expected to hit with the same level of accuracy compared to the rest of the map (for example variable bpm sections). I vaguely recall peppy giving a not very amused answer to this and that it won't happen.

A lot of the features in this game are abusable, for example; kiai time.
I'd say go for it, since there would probably be some rules added to limit the usage to prevent abuse of the feature.
Laxxer
that would be really awesome, I'm in (sorry no vote, i'm empty)

This can be rather nice. I often want to change the spinner difficulty, but it'd also change the accuracy value
Having these as 2 different parameters (just as AR/OD now) wouldn't hurt, right!

@Whirl, please refrain from posting "Accepted" or "Denied", that's up to the GMTs, and as said by someone in an other thread, it can be confusing for new people

The more difficulty customization features, the better imo.
So this is a step into the right direction.
