As we all know that you are not allowed to change the mp3 of a map to a different song to upload it as a new one, but i just wanted to discuss why?

I really don't see anything bad that can come of it. It won't flood the servers either with a bunch of content since you're not actually adding new content; you're just replacing it.

I guess you can say that it is to prevent people from spam submitting new content but to be honest what's bad about that? Why do you need to be forced to wait 30 days in order to upload new content if you clearly think that something you currently have is really bad?

Like i'm guessing this is something you obviously shouldn't be doing but if you think deeper into it, why is it even bad to do it. Would someone please inform me of a clear reason why this is prohibited? Otherwise i don't really see why this should be a rule.

(PS i'm not really sure if this is the right place to ask but i think i do recall seeing something in the RC about this)

Huh, what?
How is this not allowed?
I used to believe that the upload-restrictions for pending maps only existed to limit the amount of uploads to the servers. Since a change of mp3 won't change the map-ID the previous mp3 and all associated data should get overwritten when uploading after changing the mp3.

Can you link/quote where it is stated that this is a rule?

One reason is to avoid the new map inheriting SP from the overwritten one, aka abusing.

Also, what's the point to upload something if you're going to delete it that soon?

i looked through the RC again, and it's not there.

i remember a LONG time ago i talked about it with dkun how it wasn't allowed.
either that or im just making silly assumptions myself .-.

Even if it was in the RC, you could just map for graveyard and ignore it.
What Dake said makes sense but I believe most people only change the song of one of their sets when it is incomplete/has no mods and they have no pending slots left. As long as the map has 0 SP there should be no problem?

With the change of how the Ranking Criteria Subforum works from now on, topics like these are obsolete. I will send a PM to the author of the topic that encourages him to bring it up to one of the council members.
