So, I'm an intermediate Taiko player.
And following caught my eye.
This song:
https://osu.ppy.sh/b/120132 (Hades: The Rise)
is way easier than
https://osu.ppy.sh/b/187015 (Kyouki Chinden)
this song

Looking at the Taiko diffs:

I'm able to pass Kyouki Chinden (5.88 stars) currently only with half-time, and get a B.
But Hades: The Rise (6.03), which the system claims to be harder is so much more easier that I'm able to pass it without any mods on B.

That's not really a feature request.
First of all the perception of difficulty is subjective and depends on your individual skillset.
And on top of it it's widely known that stardifficulty is measured by the raw physical difficuly, not the difficulty of certain patterns and characteristics that may be harder to play than they look in theory.

It's because everyone has different expertises that they find certain maps easier than others. I for example are good with jumps, I can pass 7* jump maps. But I can barely pass 5.5* stream maps

Yes, the difficulity depends on patterns.
That does not mean that you can't increase the diff if there is a really long pattern or many strange patterns.
In this case it's the BPM together with unusual patterns, that make this one way harder than the other song.
And it isn't weighted enough.
But what I'm talking about is, is that the general algorithm behind it can be improved.
On Taiko mode, "personal skill" doesn't really apply.

There are just strange patterns and incredibly long patterns.

Of course some people might be faster at reading and some better at doing the fast drumming.
And Kyouki Chinden uses strange patterns plus really high bpm
(I don't know how to "write" taiko correctly in the chat, so I'll go by the keys I press)
E.g
cxcxcxcxcv Is something that is easily pressable even at high bpms
But
cv vc (mind the gap) at really high speed is way harder
Of course using a correct way of playing Taiko, you might not do this with one hand and instead use the style were you normally have blue in the left hand and red in the right one. But as I started Taiko wrong, relearning it seems impossible.
But that kind of gap suggest that you can "reset" your chain (for my style) (Start again with the right hand).
However all pattern ends are clearly visible in Hades: The Rise.
Simply everything is easier at Hades, but it's considered more difficult.

EDIT: According to the map page the approach rate is higher on hades, I have to clue why it says so, it's laughably low compared to Kyouki Chinden
EDIT2: The approach rate seems not to be used -> The wrong approach rate is being used for calculation.
EDIT3: Nope, the AR is not used for calculation. I still have no idea what makes it think this map is so hard.

Kyouki Chinden on HT is about as hard as Hades: The Rise without mods, regardless of this "skill" stuff.
There is just something wrong with it that Hades is considered harder..

Kyouki Chinden is 140 BPM 1/2 with an occasional 1/3 stream
The SV is high, together with a lot of sliders, this makes it hard. However sliders never give much pp, since their accuracy isn't determined by OD much (even when a normal circle would get a 50, you can get a 300 on a slider)
Also, sliderends are bad for your HP if you fail to hit them properly, so it's actually quite underrated

I feel like my post contains many paradoxes, I can't even understand it myself properly anymore

Dear Lord, I completely misread it...

I actually don't have problems with Kyouki, as the patterning isn't that hard to read
I see that when the color changes a lot in a stream it gets increased
Kyouki starts with kkkkk ddddd, then with ddddk kkkkd
Those patterns (even at 280 BPM) aren't that hard, since you can spam your way through
Killer streams as kkdkkddkdddkkkkddkddkddkd at 205 are much harder since the color changes a lot, so you need to think a lot

Uhm, you are aware that I'm referring to the Taiko diff here?
Because it looks like you're talking about osu! standard maps.
pkhg
hes talking about taikos
ninja'd

kyouki chinden is way harder than hades the rise for me. i suck at complex patterns xd
a correct way to write taiko is
dons/d for red notes an katsu/k for blues

Actually, yes the patterns aren't really that hard to read.
But Hades in comparison to Kyouki is kindergarten.
And I don't think it needs an expert to identify that.
(Really, just look at two no mod replays, or let Bancho play xD)
EDIT: Those songs might be equally hard if they both had the same BPM.
Just look at the people who are on the first place.
On Hades it's place #1,243, number 40 in Germany (I was #49 there, but I'm not good so whatever)
On Kyouki it's place #6 (asuasu_yura) #5 of Japan.

I think this tells alot of why Hades is easier.

Or the fact that there is no DT in the highscores (Kyouki) also shows that it's not possible, while it is for Hades.

It is preferrable to receive concrete ideas instead of "this should be improved" comments, since they don't actually help much to solve the problem.
The fact star rating isn't perfect is well known anyways, since we're talking mostly about subjective matters, which a computer won't be able to handle.

PS: sorry, but I have no ideas myself on the matter :/
