The Sky Crawlers, an unknown masterpiece. Kino no Tabi is greeat too.

Something lighter? Kare to Kanojo no jijou (His and Her circumstanced or just KareKano). Old, but quite good romance. Superdeformed scenes are one of the funniest i've ever seen.

I don't really know how to define the word unpopular/unknown anime. :o But I know that I love watching Shiki very much and have considered rewatch it however there're only few of my friends know this anime.
