Self explanatory: the Force cursor option actually works with the osu standard cursor only, but i think it would be more consistent and useful to have it work with the CTB character too, since it's the "cursor" for CTB and many people get used to their own one they use.

This is a great thing, namely because I use a custom sprite that shows exactly where the plate ends, rather than having it extend slightly beyond the actual catch point.
Dragvon
Kinda related to This.
Support both tho.

Shohei Ohtani
Support. I've played maps where the plate doesn't correctly show the catch area ;~;.
Derekku
I suppose this makes sense, although I don't see it happening for a while (possibly once CTB gets a revamp).

superhugemassivesupport!

also, does anybody know when/if a ctb revamp is coming? i'm assuming near/after osz2
Shiro
Support. It makes sense and shouldn't be too hard to do.

Do not support

Maps shouldn't be ranked with ryuutas where the plate isn't the proper size. Forcing your own character is just ignoring the problem.

- Its not the same as a cursor
Custom cursors all come in different sizes and shapes, so of course in some cases people will rather use the cursor they are most accustomed to. *slightly off topic*The same thing could be said about custom ctb fruit.THIS SHOULD HAVE A FORCE OPTION! *end OT*But in the case of CTB characters, there is (should be) one standard size for the plate and overall character. Players should be able to play with ANY CTB character because they are (should be) the same - they only differ in what's under the plate/looks, and that shouldn't even effect your gameplay.

- Only a fraction of maps contain custom CTB characters (compared to maps with custom cursors)
This means that you can use your own custom character or default majority of the time. Because of this reason I don't understand why there would even be much of a demand for a force feature.

- Custom fruit ryuutas are an important skin element
It enhances the experience of some maps if done well ^_^. If a skin is made, a mapper intends for their map to be played with it - if it can be completely overridden like that why bother making it in the first place? It would be the same as overriding custom hitcircles and any other skin elements that have pre-assingned+enforced sizes.

Alternative: Enforce the guidelines/rules for fruit ryuutas better

Edited: I hate huge paragraphs >_<

Uhm, let me try to answer to all your points.

The "problem" is not just the custom character, as i'll explain below.

I hear with the new osz we won't be able to delete skin elements for the beatmap file. We could say the exact same thing to cursors, trust me. Sometimes it's not just the plate itself, having a whole different character may feel exactly as when you use another cursor in standard mode, even if it's the same shape. It's a matter of being used to it.
Anyway, the point of the request was not because of rankability issues, but because i think it would be more consistent to have the option work with that character too.

There are quite a bunch of maps that force the default skin, and that forces a standard ryuuta even though there may be no particular reason to do that. I had the idea while playing one of those maps, actually.

It's not like the character will completely override the skin. I get your point and i have no problem with that, but i think it's better to have at least this choice since it's already available in standard. Also when osz2 comes out noone will be able to remove skins/storyboard (and i CAN'T WAIT FOR OSZ2, YES)

I guess I just fail to understand this ryuuta "feeling". Although now that you brought it up I realize that I shouldn't be speaking for the whole osu! community, since there might be others, like you, who don't feel comfortable with using other custom ctb characters due to this reason. I still believe that players should be able to play with ANY character though, sorry. The only time you should notice the "shape/look/difference" is right before the map starts and during breaks where you can stop moving and have a look at it (personal opinion)

I can see that being annoying. In this case have the force default skin option not include ctb skin elements.

A more straightforward fix would be to allow mappers to force certain parts of skins. There could be separate fields for hitsounds, gameplay elements, and interface. Gameplay elements could be made mode-specific.

Hitsound Layering yes yes?

i'm going to bump since i don't see a reason why this can't be added.
Seph
no, forced skins are annoying, i myself prefer my own ryuuta.
deadbeat
that's the point of this request isn't it. to make it so that you always play with your custom ryuuta :/
Seph
oh woops i thought its adlkslflasjfas nvm lol
