I was prepared for a backlash but this is on another level.
First off I am aware what efforts aireealistic & litoshi put together up until now. Of course I can put myself in their shoes, I know plenty about wasted effort. That is why it was a difficult decision to make but it had to be done. This is an event made by the community for the community. It was only fair to do this for the sake of it. Sure I look like an asshole for doing this midway and wasting their efforts but believe me, I'm not doing it for my entertainment or just because other nonsensical reasons. When I found this out I was compeltely pissed off at myself and found this situation so bad that I spent 30 minutes thinking about it before taking the decision. I did love your duet and was excited about the chances of an actual duet winning!But exceptions for this cannot be made, this was a mistake I had done and treated it as one. An apology to you guys will not make up for it but I can't do anything more than that.
Regarding the rules I believe next year I should include a more foolproof format. I did start to revise them a day before this happened, nice coincidence. For this situation though, you can't really blame them. I'm not here to teach you common sense.
Lastly about the twitter shitestorm which took place overnight and throughout the day - nobody proved my decision wrong with their nitpicking and rephrases. I don't even know what words should I put about this whole debicle other than unnessessary and immature. As for my tweet, yes, it was unprofessional, its how I roll. Deal with it. But if you're going to use that as an ammo, you're definitely aren't shooting straight. Instead of doing monkey see, monkey do, try to think first.
But anyway, a mistake is a mistake. Theres nothing more to be done except to learn from them. I run this alone and plenty know I'm not 100% perfect. Only a human.
Starting next year:
- I will be joined by an assistant host. As we all know, two heads are better than one - productivity wise and error catching aswell.
- The rules will be revised completely to be made more clear and understandable.
- The twitter shall be replaced completely by our Discord server. It will be used for everything - rules, suggestions, announcements, general banter, karaoke and the likes. All under one roof.That is all from me for now. I apologise to aireealistic & litoshi for wasting their efforts and to everyone for this commotion.
