You don't have money. I don't have a PSP.

Unless, that is you don't have money to buy a PSP, then that's a different story.

What's the difficulty like on this? I want to like SRPGs (In fact I really love the Fire Emblem GBA games), but I'm terrible at them.

I'm also wondering what that last shot in the first post is from.
Topic Starter
Ivalset
The game has adjustable difficulty via a facility called the Church. It's pretty easy at +0, and pretty threatening at +9.

The game isn't really an SRPG though; it's a roguelike. It feels like a much more active Disgaea.

And the unrelated game pic is Phantasy Star Portable 2.
James
lol is that index thing real at OP? haha, a REAL reference from other stuffs xD

ZHP is a dungeon crawler which means I lose all my shit when my fucking fatass PSP battery falls out of my PSP (only happened once so far) but dying in this game is actually rewarding which dampers things to a degree (if you're expecting to die).

However, so fucking fun. Also, what's the deal with the anime dungeons? I was in Baccano! and kicking some serious fucking ass, but rather than enemies gaining +1 to +2 levels per floor, they were gaining like 5, and by floor 5 they were hitting me so hard they'd do 40% of my max health per hit. And there were like 8 of them attacking me at once. Shit's crazy.
Topic Starter
Ivalset
They're 10 floor dungeons (except accel world, which is 15), and the final boss of the dungeon usually ends up around level 38 at church difficulty 1, I think. So enemies level quite a bit quicker than in normal mastery dungeons.

Also, the Baccano dungeon is kind of nutty since there are hero interception rooms everywhere and a ton of satellite cannon traps. Jump devices own.
heintsi
oh do i hear word baccano!! *goes to play more and puts shiren 3 aside
fun game by far, this is just like shiren or any other roguelike though(shiren), you never have enough meats/healing items to stay alive.
but luckily we have prinny wife who cooks for us <3

I just realized that making multiple Hero Power Sources flow into a single path was a good thing, not a neutralizingly bad thing

oh shit do not shoplift
Topic Starter
Ivalset
Kill the shopkeeper before thinking about attempting shoplifting; throw something at them to aggro them.
Pokebis
I shoplifted with no issues once. Actually I didn't. I accidentally threw one of my own items at an enemy and couldn't leave for some reason. But they thought I shoplifted, I killed the main character, threw one of the guards and booked it. No other issues for me.. ;)
awp
I fought with the shopkeeper and then the bodyguard did a special that dealt more than twice my max hp

I shoplifted by stepping on a log trap that knocked me so hard I saw the curvature of the earth

newb questions!
1. when is stealing available?
2. how to steal? pretty sure we can steal in this game
3. how exactly does caravans work? example i set it at floor 10, and if i go to floor 10 i dont see them...
4. why weapons/armor loses COND so quick? i dont see any point in wearing anything xD
5. is the equipment skill still activated even though its COND is already at 0? example apetite engine at 0 COND still triggers its skill..
6. Entranger voice in jp = etna jp disgaea?
Topic Starter
Ivalset
1. As soon as you see catsabres/deathsabres.
2. Equip a Paw Arm L or R, attack with it. 50% chance to steal from the back, 30% sides, 20% front.
3. Caravans show up after you complete the floor you set it to. So if you set it to floor 10, you would clear floor 10 and then see them. Most story/dengeki dungeons end at floor 10, so you'll never see them unless you change your caravan setting.
4. Condition deterioration rate is dependent on the item. Some lose condition while attacking, some lose condition while defending, some lose condition on both conditions. Instead of not wearing anything, you should just use whatever you find and replace it when it's broken. Later on, repair becomes more available, and you'll find weapons/armor that take less condition to use (dengeki equipment is pretty durable).

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... l=en#gid=1 has a list of equips and their condition deterioration rates.

5. Nope. You can check which skills are active through the status screen.
6. No idea. Probably?!

James, I listened to some cheetahmen today.
James
Regarding skill:
Sometimes there are two types of skills in a weapon, One active and one passive.
IIRC Lightning Drum has a passive and an active skill.
If Lightning Drum loses its COND, is the passive skill still enabled? I think its passive skill is to add wind element to your attacks..

...shit i died starving 0 hp at the same tile as the green portal xD

Both are disabled.

Don't forget you can call your wife for food!
James

Do you need to do something for Synthing to make it not suck ass? I haven't determined how to get more points per synth - maybe my blacksmith Vega's just bad at his job?
Topic Starter
Ivalset
Mm, it's important to understand the benefits of synthing.

1) Transfer skills to other pieces of equipment. This is pretty powerful in its own right. Each piece of equipment has its own condition deterioration rate, which reduces on attacking, receiving damage, or both. A lot of equipment with great skills loses condition on attacking (which is generally unfavorable, you should be doing more attacking than receiving damage). So you can synth those abilities over to a more favorable piece of gear that doesn't deteriorate as easily. Similarly, you can shift abilities to gear that provides the stats you want to emphasize.

2) Raise the condition of equipment. Condition multiplies the effect of equipment boosters, as well as the stats on the item itself.

If you have a Nietono no shana, a dengeki sword with 50% SAT (and 50% fire, but that's not important here), and increase its condition to 140%, it will now have a SAT bonus of 70%.

Now, back to the original Nietono no shana. Say we had a Plug-S R Arm booster, giving us +45% to R-Arm equipment. With the original, unupgraded sword in the right hand, you get a 95% SAT bonus (50 original plus 45 from the equipment booster). However, if you raise its condition to 140%, you'll now get a 133% SAT bonus (70 upgraded sword plus 45*1.4=63 from the equipment booster)

To give you an idea of how ridiculous it gets later on, the maximum condition for an item is 694% and the maximum for a single booster is +255%. So if you use a 694% condition hat with a maxed Plug-L Head booster, every stat that the hat has a bonus in will be increased by at least +1770% (18.7 times original stat), since it's not including the actual bonuses on the item itself.

As for the actual shit you asked about:

Rank 1-2 equipment: 8 points
Rank 3-4 equipment: 9 points
Rank 5-6 equipment: 10 points
Dengeki equipment: 10 points
Unlosing Equipment (cape must be 2star and above): 10 points
1star Unlosing Cape (failure cape): 3 points

The blacksmith skill only affects how many times you can call them per dungeon, I think. Might also affect repair prices, I don't know.
James
oh man ivalset you sound like a genius im getting dizzy :)
where you get those info? from the jap wiki?
Topic Starter
Ivalset
Yeah, most of it is from there. Google translate is pretty terrible so sometimes it's confusing to understand that shit.
awp
when I synth my condition is only raised by 1%

seems kind of expensive
Topic Starter
Ivalset
It's based on rank. Synthing a rank 1 item gives +1% condition. Rank 2 is +2%, etc etc.

It's a bit expensive now, but later on money becomes worthless and synthing for condition becomes worthwhile.

You should store excess equipment and hang on to it, though. All of it is good as fodder equipment for synthing. And if you have the cash and you find yourself using the same equipment, go ahead and start synthing; it's less work you have to do later.

That is, store the excess that you're not using for shadowgram.

Ugh, I just tried a run of absolute hero mastery dungeon at +9 church. By floor 80, the gatekeepers were already level 9999 and normal mobs were 3000. I was...512.

I was surviving pretty well until I got dropped into a hero interception room. Then a cat blended me.

Well that's a bit too overwhelming.

Damndamndamndamn, I so want this.

I keep playing Disgaea 2 on PSP to satisfy my desires.
awp
Good thing I have a pile of equipment I have no other plans for, but seriously, synthing equipment 500+ times? Kind of irritating, considering you can't put a Safety on equipment you're currently using

Guess I'll have to Shadowgram an extra life
Topic Starter
Ivalset
Theoretically, you would only need to synth 495 times to get a full set of +99 equip. It's really not even that time consuming, since each synth is like under 10 button presses. I can synth a +16 piece of gear in 1 minute, so about half an hour for 5 +99 gears. Considering I've already put in at least 130 hours...

Plus, you don't even really need to synth a full set. Just whatever you're using a booster for and your weapon.

Also, by the time you start really doing synthesis, you might as well be using the Insurer facility, since it protects your equipment and inventory items.
James
omg 130 hours... i played for.... ~10 hours. need to catch up.
just unlocked the hero dungeon though..
how to get dangeki cards?
Topic Starter
Ivalset
Need to set up your excavator in your caravan. The further down you set your caravan stop to, more/rarer items will be available. I think dengeki cards can show up as early as 5f.
James
what about those mirror things inside hero dungeon?
sorry to ask alot of questions here xD
