Hello, osu! community! I am pretty sure some of you guys heard about the Beatmap Packs, and your guess is correct: we're talking about ideas and suggestions what new packs can we add for the Theme and Artist section. If you have any ideas just drop them here and I will see what can I do with them. We already got since november 2015 more than twenty new packs for the Theme/Artist section - cheers to you guys - and I'd love to get more in.

Informations
  1. The upload times are on Friday and Sunday at 5:30pm GMT +0. Time can vary due reasons.
  2. Downloads are available from Mediafire and http://osu.yas-online.net (till Pack #423, doesn't include any Chart/Theme/Artist packs)

I will point out artists that have a lot of beatmaps mapped and which I think are pretty popular in this game.

Artists where beatmap packs would make sense:

- Renard (all of his identities)
- t+pazolite
- Infected Mushroom
- Hanatan, yuikonnu, nano (all seperate of course, but they all do vocaloid covers... vocaloids itself should get packs but i suppose that's more theme-related packs)
- One Ok Rock
- Yousei Teikoku
- Dragonforce
- Feint
- Pendulum
- FELT
- Halozy
- xi
- Nekomata Master
- Memme (nice memme)
- sakuzyo
- M2U
- Sharlo
- Nightwish, My Chemical Romance (not entirely sure of their popularity in the game)

Artists where beatmap packs would make sense in the future:

- Marina and the Diamonds (already many beatmaps, but my mapping project is going well so it makes more sense to wait until full albums are mapped)
- Camellia (people are into mapping drumstep lately so I would wait for more maps)

I don't think a Nekomata Master pack would make sense as many of the downloads are not available anymore...
However, I agree with the others Desp has listed. Also I'm interested to see how the Paramore project progressesses so that a pack would be possible in the distant future as well.
Also to the vocaloids, I'd rather do packs for the actual composers like Giga-P.

Long way to go sadly ;-; But for some reason the English Pop / Rock projects are more successful than the Japanese projects, even though you would expect the opposite.

Nah I disagree. I think people would rather download a "Hastune Miku" or "Megpoid Gumi" pack than packs for actual composers that are way less known.

Idk, just having a vocaloid would cover too much and I don't really think we could perfectly sort them according to themes :/

There could just be multiple packs for each vocaloid, sorted after date of rank. Vocaloid mapping started very early - few players will be interested in playing 2009 vocaloid maps, realistically.

A pack for each vocaloid, multiple if needed O.o
Producer is better, Reol, GigaP, FujiniseikouyuuP (Or Nanahoshikangengakudan, depends on what you prefer), PinocchioP, Kemu, Zips and some others (can't currently recall which ones have multiple ranked maps) That'd at least narrow down so the player can more easily play maps of a certain producer they like

But does the average osu! player really know which songs these composers made? I would doubt that... For example if you make a FujiniseikouyuuP pack I bet 90% of the osu! players would not even know who that is. But atleast 75% know who Hatsune Miku is.

Producers are typically famous when they create something that creates a subset of their own genre or a major idea. Various volcaloid music vids are more memorable for the volcaloid used instead of who created the work because there are not memorable/important enough to be looked up. Don't get me wrong, a total fan or someone who pays more respect to the producer will look the producer up, but generally it doesn't happen with many people. Take the Evilous Chronicles for example. I instantly know that was created by Akuno-P/Mothy because I consider it a series of very major works and am a big fan of those works. However, I don't really know who created Senbonzakura. Even if it's stupid for me not to know, I just don't care as much.

It's in some points similar to deadbeat's Achievement Thread where suggestions and ideas can be posted and bundled on one place.

Also, this isn't a project to create more beatmaps but to add more packs on the website so it'd be on the wrong place in the Beatmap Project forum.

EDIT: Now that I've noticed but today it's exactly one year ago I've started to upload Beatmap Packs, in this time we could add 44 new Beatmap Packs together in the Artist and Theme section. I want to bring a little shoutout to you guys for your help by sending ideas (PM, Forum, chat, etc.) and creating packs by your own. After all, I pretty much reached the goal I aimed for - to have a wider offer of Beatmap Packs, specifically theme- and artist-related.

Is there a cYsmix beatmap pack? Sorry if this is a dumb question I just can't find him in the artists tab of the beatmap packs and this was the first result on google...

and yeah, Featured Artists packs are going to be really nice, especially when there will be a section for them in direct and beatmap download
