Didn't see this up yet, so I decided to create one.

Please try re-encoding the mp3 yourself if you can. It is a great learning experience (Guide: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=36719&p=526390#p526390)

Recently, the ranking requirements changed to require all maps to have a bite rate average between 128 and 256, so that means that all 320 kbps bit rate songs must be re-encoded. Sadly, this may not be such an easy task for everyone. As a result, I am making this queue to help anyone that has trouble re-encoding their mp3s.

Qualifications to post in the queue:
-Have a map that has an average bitrate greater than 256 kbps

How to post:
-Please post a link to your map or mp3 (Do not ask us to retrieve the mp3 for you)
-Post how you want you want the mp3 encoded (if you do not do this, I will automatically assume you want your map encoded at 192 kbps)

Options for encoding:
Constant bit-rate: 192, 224, 256
Variable bit-rate: 2, 1, 0 (Note: Since audacity does not print out the average bit rate of a file, these encodings will always print out
320 kbps. To calculate the average bit rate, get the size of the mp3 in bytes * 8 / (length of the song in seconds) / 1000. Note this is an estimate, but it will do for all basic purposes)

What to expect:
Someone to post a new mp3 in the thread that meets the ranking standards.
A new offset for the new mp3.

If anyone can help, please do help. I need all the help I can get to get this done in a timely manner.

Note: Due to school, I can't easily upload songs to the internet, so I hope the rest of the people helping this thread can keep it going.

A friendly reminder to everyone that a queue like this isn't an excuse to be lazy. If you only searched for a minute around the internet, grabbed the first 320kbps mp3 you saw, and now want to change that, then perhaps you should try looking again. Don't take the easy way out and just slap the job on yoshi and others. :p

There are 2 .mp3 on the whole internet (on sites that i can trust) on this song. A 128kbps one and a 320kbps one. Of couse I picked the 320kbps one.

But since I have to re-encode it to 192kbps, the offset changes for some reason, and I have to resnap every timing section, and that glitches the entire map. So, is there any way to you to keep the same offset (that is 421) or am I doomed? >_>

I've tried to reencode it, but I failed, since I'm terrible at this. The offset changed 40ms.
That sounds really ridiculous and impossible to keep, but, seriously, I just can't get things right without fucking the entire map and the map is very special to me to give up on it. I really need help! :(

Hi, I just wanted to say that I can help with this too If you want me too, I would mostly help random people on random maps that I like, just saying, so you don't have to do all the re-encoding for all mp3s, maybe you could put in your thread post something like:

You can also ask lovhin456 for re-encoding (without losing much quality), just send her a PM with the link or the mp3 itself and if you want an specific bitrate please say so in the PM. She will reply when is done with a link where the new mp3 is located. She will mostly not do the mp3 on this thread but sometimes she will pick a song she likes or if she wants to help me too.

Or something else of course only if you want me to help you :3

Sure PM the mp3s, I will try to keep up with this, I actually have time, like 6 or 7 hours in the week per day (free time) and I'm almost 50% to 75% of the weekends free :3 But I see you give offset and timing (?) help with your mp3 encoding help, I can't do that, I just can offer the new mp3 ):

That is fine, just tell me when you finish encoding, and I'll find the offset.

Oh okk, so it'd be something like person A request mp3 encoding, you send it to me by PM, I do it, then send it back to you, yes ??

Can you Re-encode this? I tried your instruction and it seems that the Audacity can't convert or errors :(

I want this mp3 to be cut to 128 kbps or something? The mp3 is ridiculously huge in size. And If possible, Can you cut the mp3 on 1:50:000?

I personally recommend using EncSpot (just google it) to generate a bitrate histogram for ABR-encoded mp3's.
It will help proving that the mp3 is up to ranking standards.

Often ABR-encoded mp3 shows up as 320kbps in Windows Explorer, and that may be misleading.

By the way according to peppy/MAT forums 192kbps is the maximum for all newly submitted maps now (after Oct 25th), so don't forget to edit that :P

The MP3 is already ~167kbps VBR, no need to re-encode it.

Unless of course someone has 320kbps source and you want the maximum allowed bitrate.

From what I heard, V2 encoding is fine, but it seems like VBR causes some playback issues in a few scenatrios. I forgot what the conditions were, but I probably wouldn't worry about it too much.

As the above post stated VBR V2 is fine and yours is in that said format. And it averages to 208kbps so its not much off.

Here's a 192kbps CBR anyway if you feel insecure about it.

192kbps CBR incase someone whines about VBR
