What is the highest difficulty rated map you guys passed?

Map requirements:
  • - osu!mania maps only
    - Easy, No Fail, and Half Time mods do not count.
    - The map needs to be longer than one minute and not include break times longer than 15 seconds
    - No lazy maps. These include equally spaced notes with little to no notes surrounding and maps with repeated linear patterns.
    - Post maps that would amaze the community. If you are going to post a 3 star map, maybe it does not belong here.
    - The map needs to have an HP of at least 8 and OD equivalent to 10. If you changed the the HP and OD in the editor, provide proof that the star difficulty, HP, and OD meet the requirements.
Posting requirements:
  • - Post a link to the map if you want to share it. If there is no link, provide proof that the star difficulty, HP, and OD meet the requirements.
    - Posting a results screen screenshot is the bare minimum proof needed, but a gameplay video (with handcam) is near solid evidance.

Edit: This topic had a poor start, I hope it goes better from now on.

i have a rly bad A on aiae

Hi, star rating is irrelevant unless tom fixes alogrithms and passes in osu!mania don't count as real passes because
1) it doesn't punish hitting other keys than required
2) hp regen on LNs is just lol
3) you are not punished for 50/100
4) you can just put hp0 on 20 star map and be able to spam through it
bye

I am not comparing mania results to results from other games. Osu!mania has its own difficulty curve. Whether the system is irrelevant or not, there is a point in difficulty where you can say, "Shit I can't believe I just did this".

"Oh wait, this is spam!mania and I just spammed the shit out of this map with a C/D rank, nvm doesn't count"
honestly if you tell to anyone who has been playing few vsrgs that passing a map in osu!mania is a great achievement you'll be massively laughed at

This is off topic and I am not going to argue about this anymore. If you want to discuss how bad the difficulty system is in mania, go over here.

Edit: Added new rule: The map needs to have an HP of 8 at least. Go ahead and mod the map to agree with this rule.

if you don't want to argue about it then you shouldn't be using a completely broken system to objectively measure skill

The new rule requiring maps to have an HP of at least 8, OD of 10 and prohibition of tap easy maps should kinda fix this.

U are getting a little punished for 50 and no regen for 100 (something like boo and good in sm)
Who the fk put hp0 on a map and take it seriously? lol

I modified the rules so read them carefully before posting. This should take care of any controversy against this thread. If you feel that the rules still don't make it hard enough, I'd love to hear some suggestions.

Redon wrote:

How do you define "easy tap maps"?
Tap easy maps include equally spaced chords with little extra notes surrounding. As mentioned in the first post, I will come with a better way to define those soon.

Edit: I think repeated beats and linear patterns should cover most lazy (easy tap) maps.

For 4k, the only way to make a higher star map is if it has some kind of absurd jumptrillable patterns at high speeds (1243)(1234)(4321)(3421), etc. M.A.M.A. and Infernoplexatone are perfect examples of this exploit. This makes the highest difficulty passed question extremely hard to answer for 4k players.

It's almost impossible to even make a 4k map higher than 6 stars unless you have an absurd amount of jacks, or very fast patterns that can be jumptrilled with ease. The only decent 6-star map that's not full of those that I know of is Fullerene's Japanese Transformation.

Not really conforming to your rules of HP 8 / OD 10, but these two are worth mentioning (they aren't my videos tho)

That's a SM file. Plenty of SM files would be perfect contenders, but they can't be ranked if they're already released (something like that I believe)

A technique called vibration which is done by overexerting the muscles in your forearm till they shake. With practice it can be done accurately, and the fastest people have done as high as around 15-17 presses a second with each arm. For reference, the song in that video only requires 12 presses a second (on multiple buttons). I could make a video of getting a similar score if you like with camera footage, but you should be able to get some videos on youtube of the technique.

Note: It IS possible to do 180bpm multi-press jacks without vibration, with wrist-jacking, but it's very difficult to do ones which are sustained for that duration.

Before jumping into conclusions I just wanted to make sure of what "easy tap" really means. Should an easy tap map mean an overrated song like Diva 1.2x, MAMA extra, or whatnot then the definition is already been made clear.

"Easy Tap" songs would theoretically allow you to bang/vibrate your hand against the keys and get the notes (without using fingertips and provided n-key rollover). Then there are linear maps which also fall into the "lazy map" category that would allow you to roll your hand from one side to another to get the notes (not entirely sure about how feasible rolling the hand over is, but keep the thought). So bottom line, the map needs to require finger independence. The more finger independence, the better.

As for M.A.M.A., I can only estimate its true difficulty from what you guys say and the best results posted. If you say that it's overrated, then high score in it might be worth less than a high score on Aiei, for instance. But this tells me one thing, and that is that I have no idea what is a truly hard, yet feasible map for the top tier players is. Hence this thread.

Sorry my bad :/

"So bottom line, the map needs to require finger independence. The more finger independence, the better."

Back on topic, since you mentioned maps having a need of a lot of finger independence, the o2jam converts are more than enough for 7k. LNs utilize this finger usage very well.

As for 4k, I don't know any map that satisfies the given criteria.

Lenfried- is on the right track, most of the o2jam converts I see are hard, although there are notable beatmania ones as well. 4k can also be as challenging if made correctly. While higher keymodes focus in the said finger independence, 4k are more tightly packed, requiring jacking. If a map like AiAe had a lot more hold notes, I think it would be much harder. As StaiainFangirl mentioned, I know that 4k doesn't have much to give when it comes higher difficulty, so we will need to make do with what we got.

Mildly interesting fact: When replacing the hold notes with regular notes, the map is 17*.

Impressive jacking in any case. Are you going to go for 9k next? :D
