Y'know there's a sub forum here specifically for osu!mania, right? Also be a bit more specific.

They're called stairs.

Probably
Learn those patterns
Attempt them at slower speeds
You can practice these in unranked maps

Maybe you shouldn't try hard stuff yet if you don't know the pattern
Or instead you can step out of your comfort zone and play them anyways until you know them
Regarding the zig-zag pattern they are not found very often in maps because it's such a bad pattern to play
Eat rice and noodles erry day

you can check this awesome thread t/146615 made by Drace, you'll find plenty of informations there and try playing o2jam converts t/148658 ,BMS converts are also really good for practice t/132783 ,but you don't obviously jump straight to the hard ones lol, improving takes time and have fun, you'll improve faster when you're having fun :D

You are an absolute beginner to mania, so I'll assume you focus at 4k. Judging by your top ranks, you cap at around 3.0 stars right now. You will learn to do stairs as you improve. I suggest you to practice on these maps until you can S them:

Focusing on Sing maps doesn't help you improve very quickly. When you're good enough to get in the low 90's, you've mostly learned how to play that map. Working on Sing maps will improve your consistency, which will make Sing other maps you were close to also easier, but it won't help you play harder maps very much. This kind of practice improves your accuracy on easy things, but focusing on accuracy instead of focusing on learning to read harder patterns or improving your finger speed is not an effective way to improve your ability to pass harder maps.

In order to learn to play harder maps, what you should do is find stuff that's just outside your comfort zone and play that more often. I don't mean only play stuff you have trouble with, but make a conscious effort to play them more often. Nofail is not a bad thing for this kind of practice either, because it takes away the pressure to pass something, so you can concentrate on trying to learn whatever sections you have trouble with.

I haven't grown to like that map just yet (it takes time for that :P). I played maps like sinus and MTC since I started playing osu!, so those are classics for me and my bias.
