Hi, I haven't really posted on the forums very often or anything, but I (at least used to) play osu! a lot.

For most users - I believe - when you look at your website user's account page, under the "Recent Activity" tab it will say "This user hasn't done anything notable recently!", which is quite frustrating, especially for players like me that tend to try to pass the hard maps rather than to FC the easier maps.
I always get a little bit frustrated when I see my user page and it says I haven't done anything notable recently, when I actually just passed like a hard map I've been trying to pass for 4 months (which is the case right now with https://osu.ppy.sh/b/431957 for me, actually).

So what I'm requesting is:
The possibility to add entries of things like "Passed <beatmap>" or something like that, linking to a replay, but that last thing isn't really required tbh, though it would be nice.
Other achievements like SSing would also be nice to be able to add there by yourself. And maybe they should expire after a month, and you might also want to pin your best achievements so that they are stuck untill you remove them.

Thanks for reading! :D

It lists all top 1000 already, which is more then enough to me (and things achievement/mapping related)

Recent activity is meant for (if i recall correctly) rank 500 and below (correct me if I'm wrong), Lost firsts, Beatmap update status, achievements, and supporter.

Your recent activity tab would get extremely cluttered if everything was recorded. Since you play osu standard, you can see this below in the history tab under recent plays:

Go play some easier maps and score in the top 500, or play some newer maps since there won't even be 500 scores on them yet if you want some recent activity on your page :)

You could add those "personal achievements" into your userpage. I think you got "userpage" and "profiles" mixed up.

I kinda like this idea. Recent activity isn't very useful in general - I can fill my recent activity with crappy top 1000 scores or I can spam update a map and none of it is the least bit interesting. It can be useful for players who can consistently get either really impressive scores or who get #1 on a bunch of maps, but other than that, it doesn't say much aside from what maps you've been playing anyway. A way to make recent activity more useful would be kinda cool, since it's usually wasted space the way things currently are.

Being able to choose things you want to show up and having recent activity link to a score page or something like that would be nice.

That's exactly the point. Most users don't often hit the top 1000 plays on a map, and the 'Recent Plays' tab only records plays within 24 hours. I know this can all be placed on your user page, but this idea is in my opinion much nicer. At least it gives the Recent Activity tab a use for the worse players that don't get the better plays.

I don't believe that gives you control of the entries in Recent Activity. As I mentioned - I play more to pass harder maps than to FC or SS easier maps. What if I want to put my play on a harder map there which I'm really proud of? Put it in the user page - I don't like that so much.

You've understood the point! Thank you <3

It might be enough to you, but likely not very useful for players like me who can't hit the top 1000 plays on a map without playing maps they don't like to play, or have to play new maps to manage that. And it really doesn't allow for any customization at all.

There are other ways this could work too, but here's a fairly detailed description of one possibility:

Have an option upon passing a ranked map "Publish score to recent activity" (perhaps below Play Again and Watch Replay?). Clicking this would put something in your recent activity to the effect of "[Your Name Here] has achieved a new score on [Insert Map Here]!", with "score" being a link to a score page. The score page would look exactly like a normal score page (combo, score, 300s, 100s, graph, etc), but wouldn't have the option to watch or download a replay, so it wouldn't take much server space. As with current recent activity, you would be limited to a certain number of chosen items and they would stay there for a maximum of one month. Ideally, there would be an option to remove items you didn't want there - either a Remove link next to each item in your recent activity or an Edit button for the entire Recent Activity section. It might also be good if automatic listings for top 1000 plays and updating maps only listed your best score/most recent update in order to avoid having the same map listed several times if you make incremental progress.

^ I like this, just another way of making it work which isn't too complicated! :D

I'll give a bump to this and see how it goes.

I like Ghost's idea especially, it would allow users to take control of their own recent activity, and they could show off that indeed getting that FC is worth after a few A-rank chokes and have that show up, or just FC's in general perhaps.
