REDOWNLOAD FOR THOSE WHO DID BEFORE AUGUST 20

I was a fan of the TV Size opening, so naturally I wanted to map the full version too.

My first attempt to storyboard an actually story. It's really simple actually.
(Also the SB has nothing to do with Pokemon Movie 8)

The mp3 quality is rankable, but a better one would be nice.
Garven
Some IRC commentary, etc.

Offset: 1,596
Though I'd recommend you get a better .mp3...

[Easy]
00:18:640 (4) - This is sticking into the hp bar
00:37:191 (1,2) - These two notes just feel really weird while playing. I think it's because you're playing the offbeats up until that slider, then you switch to 1 and 3 and it just feels off. Keep them on 2 and 4 (maybe add a beat right after the repeating slider to help this rhythm sink in).
01:39:292 (2,3,4,5) - Even though it's an easy... I'd move these back to the red ticks. It feels weird playing syncopated beats against the vocals. Maybe do the first two beats as a slider.
01:43:079 (2,3,4) - ^
Open your .osu file and past this in for your last slider. Should look a little better.
176,184,124663,6,0,B|136:280|168:336|256:360|336:336|376:280|328:168,1,400

[Normal]
00:12:010 (1) - Remove new combo
01:23:578 (1,2,3) - I'm thinking these might be a tad difficult for a normal, though it could go either way, really.
01:36:285 (2) - Move this one grid down

Okay, less nazi's than I thought, though I did omit a lot of the tiny slider things that nobody would notice anyway. :P
RandomJibberish
WOOOOOAAAAAHHHH I'M UNBEATABLE! POKEMAWN!

General
Sounds seem slightly too loud
Why not use the whole screen instead of that little square? It seems pretty restrictive. It makes the backgrounds go offscreen but they are easily extended to fix it...
Also maybe add an outer stroke on the text for readability and prettyness
Are birchlab.png, birchstill.png used
SB's awesomel otherwise though

Easy
Some weird overlaps you might want to fix, but no real problems

Normal
00:06:125 (4,5,6) - Move back half a beat and readjust the pattern (Stacking 4 on the 3) ?
00:08:775 (4,5,6) - ^
00:21:082 (5) - Stack under 4?
00:36:229 (1) - Stack on 2?
00:36:418 (2) - Remove repeat and add beat on 00:37:742?
01:12:770 (2) - ^

Hard
01:37:014 (4,5,6) - Sorry to be Nazi, but you could smooth this out and make it look nicer by moving these a grid right and then moving 6 another grid right.

Awesome map~
Azure_Kite
The SB looks awesome; Consider speeding up May's animation or adding more sprites to the animation though; it looks a little slow to me. Also, blank/quietened Sectionpass/fail imo.

There's definitely an offset slip-off at 01:23:571 (1). Thankfully it gets back on track at the beginning of the next combo. I suggest adding another offset at the end of the spinner AS IT IS (86,411). Then add another section at 83,544. Resnap the combo before the spinner and you're done.
aRiskOfRain
Resnap everything ktnx

Easy;
00:37:553 (2,3) - Shift left one grid.

Hard;
00:57:632 (1) - Move left one grid.

That is all.

Where did you get the mp3 of this music? Can you look 'Stand up! (Battle Cry) (Full version)' for me.

[Normal]
No problem

[Hard]
00:20:902 (4,5,8) - [Suggestion] How about move 1 grid down?

Thanks

I found this at the darkest corners of my HDD along with the original Japanese Pokemon 8 Movie OST and even some songs I don't know which game, movie or show they came from. Not sure if it's any better but hey worth a try right?

I see no point in making section-pass and section-fail invisible.
The SB doesn't get worse with them.

[Storyboard]
The black borders looks so wrong and they don't fit in any way.
From what I understand you wanted to emulate the GBA screen but your current proportions (416x401, almost 1;1) are totally wrong to GBAs proportions (240 x 160 3;2).
Please change to the right proportions (And add a simple border at least) or make it full screen

I agree that the animations should be faster, like in the original games.

SPOILER

(Around 1:26) Those trees here are slightly misplaced. fix them

I kinda wished there was a bigger difference in fail/pass during game play (Except May has a broken back on pass :P ), maybe use that May uses a bike on pass instead. (Just a suggestion)

One more thing!
Please resize all the May/Brendan with Nearest Neighbor scaling instead of osu!'s scaling.
Looks much better with pixel stuff, trust me. (Used it all the time in You Goddamn Fish)

[Easy & Normal]
Can't find anything, exept for that AIMod consider Easy as a Normal and Normal as an Hard....

[Hard]
Resnap all Notes <.<
00:20:902 (4,5) - Move one grid down, It looks kinda ugly right now.
00:24:688 (1,2,3,4,5) and 01:46:480 (1,2,3,4,5) - Hate stacks like this :<
00:26:582 (2) and 01:48:373 (2) - - (Suggestion) remove two reverse arrows and add a 1/2 long slider at 00:27:140/01:48:941
01:04:448 (3) - Move one grid to the right?

Well, that's it.
Mainly SB stuff that I think you should change, but it's pretty good for you first mayor SB.

Hope somebody finds you a decent mp3. Also I nazi sliders a lot.

General
Use tick rate 2, all diffs. It makes some sliders look better.

Easy
00:38:729 (4) - Half grid left.
01:02:585 (1) - Move end down 1 grid.
01:12:809 (1) - Ugly. I don't feel like being much more helpful here.

Normal
00:53:118 (1) - Symmetry.
01:10:158 (1) - Move end point a grid down, just to make it that bit better.

Hard
01:15:270 (6) - Symmetrise better.
01:27:208 (2,3) - Annoyingly unsymmetrical. Turn off grid snap and adjust it slightly.
01:30:805 (4) - Delete this, and use a flipped 01:30:237 (3) in its place. Or align start and end better.

Not sure whether to star it or not. The mp3 really is awful ATM, and I'm quite frankly bored of Pokemon. But the mapping and SB are good, and the mp3 will probably get fixed, so have one.
Shohei Ohtani
Meh. I'd say "MAP THE TV VERSION FOR A BETTER MP3", but I realized that you did map the tv version.

Storyboard:
http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/11782
http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/11781
http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/11783

Normal:
00:28:505 - Add note here
00:28:694 - Add note with clap
00:29:073 (4,5) - Add repeats on both of these
00:29:073 (4) - Add clap on repeat
00:29:641 (5) - Add clap on end of slider
01:04:100 (1,1,2) - Same as above.
01:49:549 (1,2,3) - ^

Hard:
Same as normal (Except sliders you can probably get away without doing, as they are a bit different from normal.)

Easy:
00:19:796 (1) - Move the middle point 1 grid down so both ends even out.

00:16:816 (1) - Use distance snap here.
02:04:746 (1) - I want some hitsound at the end of a slider.

[Normal]
01:01:120 - Adding a note?

[Hard]
00:14:923 (4) - Just a suggestion.Maybe use Reverse Selection? I think a little jump here perfectly fits with the lyrics.

It kinda feels like ,10 higher slider velocity would fit here.

Also here is some symmetry modding.
00:30:827 (3) - Move one grid to the right and one grid up.
01:07:747 (6,7,8) - Move these down two grids
01:52:629 (3) - Move one grid down and one grid to the left.

Also found a new storyboard error (that I don't think existed when I modded it last time.
http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/13837
Look at the trees, as you can see should SB/oldale be placed a bit higher up in to make it look better.

00:16:816 (1) - Spacing.
00:27:798 (1,2) - ^.
01:10:208 (1) - ^.
01:30:287 (1) - Maybe you can vertically reflect this, it lokks better.

[Normal]
00:16:438 (1) - Too bad using jumps on Normal.
Mashley
Storyboard is... eh... a little weird. I'd like to see a lot more pokemon and a lot less walking >_< Also I'm pretty sure you're not allowed images so big, but you'll have to ask someone who knows more about storyboarding than me. The mp3 sounds a little crappy. The maps themselves are fine.

Insane:

00:29:691 (3) - new combo?

aight i'm done

ps i agree wish Mashley

EDIT: tiny irc shit, BUBBLED.

The source should be "Pokemon: Advanced Battle". It's that season's OP. Lucario and the blahblahblah was that season's movie.

Though that shouldn't interfere with ranking since it doesn't affect the map itself.
NaomiMinette
The music file being used is the movie's version though.

The full version was featured in movie theatres when Lucario and the Mystery of Mew came out. A TV size was released when Pokemon: Advanced Battle came out.

It's a bit difficult to find a good quality MP3 of the song's full version :< I only have a crappy non-legit copy of Movie 8 and the music quality is HORRIBAD. >_>

CDFA wrote:

Wrong order.

The movie came out near the end of the season. The season came out in 2005 in America, the movie in the second half of 2006. Since Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was that season's movie it used that season's theme song. The Japanese movies also often do this.

It's the same exact song, just different lengths. It's the opening for Pokemon Advanced Battle, and that's where the song first came from and is known for coming from. Especially when it screams POKEMON ADVANCED BATTLE in the song.
Gens
How many osb files do you like to have? Only one is required... http://puu.sh/70l

Why not use offset 3,184 as the first one?

And fix the source, of everything said above.

Yeah, I guess that's it.

EDIT: This should be fine now. Rebubbled~
mm201
All difficulties:

  1. See the sharp edges at the sides? Please add a 1px transparent border around each of these sprites.
  2. There is a brown border around Norman.
  3. The first two offsets feel 15ms late or so. The last one feels closer to 20ms late. Please run this past another BAT as well to be sure.
  4. Section pass and fail are empty images, which looks strange since you kept the sound. Either add custom ones or get rid of the sound.
  5. Set tick rate 2.
Easy:
  1. 00:19:846 (1) - Symmetrify.
  2. 00:36:886 (1) - Ugly overlap. Up 2 grids.
  3. 01:02:635 (1) - Symmetrify.
  4. 01:05:475 (2) - Ugly overlap. Down 1 grid.
  5. 01:50:925 (1) - Finish on the end.
Normal:
  1. 00:13:976 (1) - Awkward. Plays better as a stack IMO.
  2. 00:14:544 (2,3) - Symmetrify.
  3. 01:02:446 (1) - Same as above. Works better as a stack.
  4. 01:03:014 (2) - Horizontally align. (take it out of grid)
Hard:
  1. 00:05:267 (2) - Looks squished. Move 1 grid down. Look for A LOT MORE like this.
  2. 00:15:302 (5,6,7) - Ugly overlap. One grid down.
  3. 00:19:467 (1) - Confusing kick slider.
Insane:
  1. 00:16:438 (1,2,3,1,2,1,2) - Awkward
  2. 00:29:691 (1,2) and repeat - Spacing.
  3. 01:14:184 (4,5,6) - The flow is weird.
  4. 01:42:215 (5) - Awkward. I guess I just hate overlap. >__<; Do what you like.
  5. 01:43:351 (8,9) - Spacing. Green because it's not misleading--it just looks sloppy.
Very nice.

Hi, posting to confirm this bit. I didn't look at it extremely in-depth, but from my play testing I found the offsets to be around 15ms late, so go by what MM201 says.

Also why does the storyboard explain a 'race' and then he walks around really slowly? XD

*I always recommend placing the preview point before where you want it to account for the song select fade-in. So perhaps try placing it a blue or red tick before the chorus?
*Use 83,429 for the second offset to keep the downbeat on the right tick.
*All three offsets could use about +5, but I'll need to test a bit more.

[Easy]
01:39:923 (3,4,5) - Didn't expect these to be red ticks. Perhaps make this a repeating slider so that the next time (01:42:953 (2,3,4)) will be expected?
02:03:590 (1,2) - Didn't expect this either; slider? (:

[Normal]

After testing a few more times (had to stop midway for irl issues), I think that +5 on all offsets works best.

I will abstain from any further super-naziing.

Next BAT, please verify the timing. Just make sure the third offset lines up perfectly with the first.
