Why on earth do you want it
Just use the volume changer and set it to 0% (the correct thing you want to disable)

Basically you're requesting to play...without music... ? (I dunno what "background music" could be...)
If it is so, do as baraatje said and you'll be fine

I mean, when osu! is in background (Alt + Tab) audio will stile continue playing. If you want to listen something else on the way (maybe the demos of the downloable beatmaps on the website) without osu! audio you have to pause it everytime.

Only the music theme volume goes down when you alt+tab but doesn't work on other songs. (Intended probably)

Why not just pause it every time? 2lazy4u

A quick scroll and osu! is muted anyway. I don't really see the need for this.
