Well, I don't know if this should be posted here in feature requests, or in ranking criteria, but I thonk this is the better option
So easy is X<1.5
Normal is 1.5<X<2.25
Hard is 2.25<X<3.75
Insane is 3.75<X<5.25
Extra is X>5.25
So all gaps are 1.5, except normal, which is 0.75
Now when there also is an easy diff present, the diff of the normal, must be between the borders (due to a new (stupid) ranking criteria)
However, the map needs to be harder than Easy, and not by a small fracture
But if the gap is too low, the gap to hard will be too big
This is why I recommend to chabge the normal border to 2.75 (or 2.50
This ofcourse only applies to maps With easy, as the lowest diff needs to be under 2.00

The map at signature had inappropriate diffspread
Taiko: EHHIXX
Futsuu was a hard symbol (little under 3 stars, was indeed a little hard)
I had to remove 40% of the objects to get it under 2.25
Tl;dr
Change the border from normal; 1.5<X<2.25 to 1.5<X<2.75 (2.50 is good as well)
