You know it would be really cool if you could use something with a touchscreen (like my laptop) to create beatmaps.
Something that automatically creates a slider if you slide and spinners when you spin.
Anyway just an idea if you ever thought about it.

Gestures? Dunno. It's good enough to press those buttons on the sides.

Touch is horrible for osu!

This could work with tablet too

Without screen ; p not to mention capacitive touch digitizer are diffrent of pen digitizers used in tablets, but on software level they indeed the same.

I would have to research how this works but I wouldn't mind adding this at some point.

The elements will need to be reworked though... things like nodes and grids will have to be "supersized" for bulky fingers.

Let's see if someone can come up with ways to make this look nice :)

Using a touchscreen without a pen or stick is not recommended.

For this idea it's not really a problem and editor UI already got big buttons.

Sure, the buttons are big, but wait till you wanna drag a tiny slider node around. I can already see people crying out loud "omg I can't drag the damn node, it's too small and I ended up dragging something unwanted..."
Shadowriver
then make them bigger or more sensitive :p besides request suggest more of semi-touch screen use i bet for those Win8 touch screen laptops:

I don't have a touchscreen to test with. I don't know how accurate the screens are or if there is any delay associated with them. If it does happen, then better get used to using a pointed object if you want to use it. It's going to take input from the screen and treat it like a mouse click. It doesn't need to be more complicated than this.

Not sure about a touchscreen editor, but something that allows you to essentially cursordance all over the screen and it places objects would be nice. Kind of like that "live mapping" for taiko + mania.

Hmm that reminded me...

This may be a nice add-on if Live Collab Mapping is ever added. The guy on the touch screen can play it out, while others on mouse/tablet can do the fine tuning.
