So, I'd say hardwork is good obviously but can not overcome personality/gene such as confidence, degree of nervousness,finger length etc.

he plays on that third party client still occasionally, for fun not for competition anymore. Not everyday. Before yesterday he hadn't played in 18 days.

But even with that casual playing he's still setting some scores that noone currently can match.

In fact, just yesterday, he set rank 1's [if he had done it here] on | quite | a | few | songs | [maybe more than those but im too lazy to check every single one]
