angle beats is ok, I do believe that the ending was probably different from the one the author envisioned, the start of the anime and the end feel like different shows and because of this I think that it suffers since it has to make up for a shorter time having to develop in a way that would have a neat and tidy ending. I think the reason why a lot of people find it so sentimental is because it taps to this feeling of "having to move on" and "letting go" which are some of the hardest things to do as a person. I believe that a lot of the people who were deeply affected had a much stronger response due to the fact that perhaps there was something in their lives that reminded them of that same feeling. another theme in Angle Beats is that of "chosen family" when it comes to many "misfits" or people who have been ostracized, they have a relationship with family that is hanging by a thread and so the Idea of a group of people who are in many ways unrelated, eventually becomes as close and as accepting as a family can really be a sentimental string to pluck. From the analogies to how many relationships work, and the memories that we remember from those interactions, Angle Beats stresses the fact that nothing last forever and that one should make the most of a situation even if it's not Ideal; It shows this through the distressing past lives of the characters and their battle against the purgatory they reside in, wherein the ultimate goal is of course to escape but also to accept, forgive, love, and Ultimately... move on

the staff who made the anime did also agree that the anime couldn't possibly have all the little details so they have also released other media that delves deeper into the story, some manga has been released and there have been plans of a 6 volume visual novel series but only the 1st volume has been released....in 2015.....rip.

I actually have the visual novel, too bad I can't read japanese

I don’t know, I don’t really remember the ending very well (my memory is one of the worst), I think I watched it about two years ago (maybe... my sense of time is really bad). But checking my MyAnimeList, I gave it a 9, which means it was pretty good, but I’m not very good at being critical and my average rating on MAL is 8.68 lol. If I’m not mistaken, this is one of the few (maybe about 5 or 7) animes that made me cry, but in that case, I would have given it a 10, so I'm not sure.
