Looking For a Working Skin Editor

I'm using an iMac with a Intel core processor and I'm running osu!lazer (I usually play mania) on it and I'm struggling to look for a working skin editor I can download that can edit skins imported from the osu app.

Are there any skin editors I can use for my setup?

There is no such thing as a "skin editor", unless you're referring to graphics design software?

If you're referring to graphic design software photoshop is a good one, gimp is a good free alternative, after effect for animation, any vector based software is optional (adobe illustrator, corelDRAW, etc).

For mania you need a text editor for the 'skin.ini' file. I never use mac but I think textEDIT should do the trick. But of course you can use any text editor such as vscode, me personally I use vim btw ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

I second gimp. It is really good, free, and not too complex or heavy on your computer.

Maybe for the most basic things. But for anything else? Nope. It lacks features, UX, and non-destructive editing, in order to be a viable software for anything more extensive (which I would qualify skinning as).

Photoshop is an industry standard for a reason. Hate adobe? Here is some actually good alternatives:
  1. Figma
    1. Used primarily for Web Design
    2. Free plan offers pretty much all you need for skinning
    3. Can be tricky to learn for beginners due to the nature of vector software
    4. Web based, with an option to download a desktop client
  2. Affinity Designer 2
    1. Pretty much photoshop but with a single payment instead of a monthly subscription
  3. PhotoPea
    1. Pretty much photoshop but in a browser
    2. Has Ads
