Hello, I've been playing for 4 years and I'm still stuck between 3.7 and 4 stars for at least FC or no miss for 3 main reasons, maybe you will have some advice to help.

graphic tablet: Gaomon S620 (sometimes mouse)

left-handed

my maximum stars: Immortal Flame (feat. Anna Yvette) 6.65*

1) I have a disability in my right hand (which will not heal) which prevents me from typing quickly, I can follow certain jump maps of 5 stars or more in terms of speed, but if there is the slightest triple hit circle or stream/burst stream, it's at least combo break + several misses if not total failure. Even at 4 stars, bursts and triple circles are extremely difficult. When it's too difficult in terms of clicking, I can switch to the left hand mouse (if not too many jumps), I can click much faster.

The question is, to progress effectively despite this disability, is it better to persevere with the tablet, right hand clicks and remain mired for a long time in the 3-4.1 stars but almost all FC and no miss with a very good accuracy or, try to climb with the full left hand mouse (cursor and clicks) and trade the precision for significantly faster clicks (passable streams without problems) but therefore less precise.
(the few 5 and 6 that I managed to pass are, I know in no way indicative of any high level of click speed or anything, just passed for fun, without worrying about the score or the ranking, i couldn't survive long on 6 stars streams lol. ) The problem with that is that the recommended difficulty for me is 4.2. when i just chill on 3 stars, i loose ranking places, same when i loose on 4 stars. impossible at all to climb the ranking, i just loose places every day because i cant climb fast enough, ultra frustrating tho.

2) the stylus/mouse grip. How is it possible to maintain a decent grip on long maps (+ 3min) without the stylus rotating or slipping from the hands? I've never been able to find any solutions to this problem and it's very annoying to break a combo or miss a click because the stylus slips. The main problem is the hand sweating, maybe i should wear gloves ?

3) tablet active area, mouse cursor speed. I have a relatively small tablet surface it seems to me, is that why I have difficulty with jumps that are quite far away?, with the mouse, what is your cursor speed set?

Thanks in advance for the constructive responses.

Immediately a problem on the first sentence. Why are you playing this game with a disability? Does your hand not hurt when you try to stream or hit bursts?
Evill
you could get foot pedals to tap with instead of your right hand, like Toesu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SE7iQVOo6E

Because i like playing this game ? I mean, i didn't expected this kind of answer. I know, osu is a hard game for random people so, for me its even harder to get good but, why not ? Its another challenge to take up... 2020-2022 i was only playing with left hand mouse but i had an bad accuracy.

No, my hand doesn't hurt but my fingers can't simply tap fast and i have a poor stamina, hard to pass long map tho.

tap x playstyle or foot pedal, for sweaty hands if grip tape doesn't work try climbing chalk, just a small amount. if rank is what matters to you, don't worry about losing ranks in the short term. You aren't going to be able to pop off all of the time, but you can improve in the longer term. For 4 years you don't have a lot of playtime either, unless you're playing offline? It's going to be hard for you to improve if you don't put the hours in, regardless of disability or not. And I would just forget about maps like Sound Chimera, improve on what you can just barely not do right now and you can come back to those types of maps later.

Thanks. I made some research about this "tap x playstyle" , this seems interesting but for now i cant find how it work :
my tablet is recognized as a mouse, when i activate the "clicking option" on the stylus, its constantly taping, and, if i disable mouse button, stylus dont work anymore. i need to hover the stylus on the tablet ?

yeah, the big problem is this lack of grip on the stylus. I tried grip tape, not working tho. i will try climbing chalk, well see... when i play map longer than 1.30min, my attention is more focused on keeping my grip than following the circles and tapping so its a problem lol.

I made somes tries with my right hand, i can sometimes pass 3- 3.9 stars triple circles/streams/bursts, At least i have the capacity for. Just need more training, 4 stars streams are faster, its different. Dunno if, even with lot of training i will have the capacity for. I really cant find whats the best between foot pedal and full left hand mouse at this point if i had to completely abandon my right hand.

for the playtime, from 2020 to 2022, i was full left hand mouse (click and cursor) just sometimes for pure fun. i started "grinding" the ranks in 2022 with my new tablet. I tend to play alot, find frustrating that my disability make it harder, quit for some months etc... i had my "top period" in september - october 2022 when i played 2-3 hours/day and grinded around 250k ranks in 2 months.

If your goal is to rank up you might be able to hunt down maps that have no bursts or streams. Raw aim slop type maps.

If your goal is to have as much fun as possible and be able to play all types of maps I think tap x / click x might be worth exploring. In order for that to work on tablet yes you must hover. But you can also do the same thing with mouse instead. I imagine that you would use your keyboard to single tap and then add in mouse clicks for bursts and streams.

You have an example of a "Raw aim slop type map" ? can't find anything about that when typing that. Again, i dont have a specific "final rank" where i want to get but i dont think i could go somewhat high if i avoid all stream/bursts maps. I mean, yeah, jumps maps can be good for grinding rank but at a certain point, a lot of maps will at least put one or two burst in there (around 4-5 stars min.)

True they might be hard to find.

Here is one: beatmapsets/2169204#osu/4577577

I only know of it because it spurred a recent controversy.

I’m sorry but the genetics aren’t fit for this game unless you wanna become MrDinklePuss and become a god with feet

I dont intend to be 4 digit lol, it would be impossible for me for sure, just want to be able to stay at least around 100-200k in global rank
Distras
Try click-x with mouse. One finger on mouse button and one finger on x key. Insane speed. Infinite stamina.
PikaGEMER
I mean if all else fails you can just use left and right click on your mouse and just main mouse, you may not get like 4 digit good but you'll still be really good.

If you have a disability with your right hand you can use your left for movement

As for your right hand don't use it at all instead you can use anything else you wanna try such as toes/feet

If your disability only affects your fingers/wrists then you can use your elbows to vibrate your hand with can make you faster

Other than that good luck there's not much you can do besides use some other configuration as your right hand will limit you

-I have a disability in my right hand (which will not heal) which prevents me from typing quickly
-No, my hand doesn't hurt but my fingers can't simply tap fast and i have a poor stamina, hard to pass long map tho.

^ OK these two. You have a disability which prevents you to tap quickly. What disability? From what you're saying it seems that it obstructs with your finger movements right? If so, I suggest to do otherwise. Go full left, or you switch tablet to right.

-I can follow certain jump maps of 5 stars or more in terms of speed, but if there is the slightest triple hit circle or stream/burst stream, it's at least combo break + several misses if not total failure.
-(the few 5 and 6 that I managed to pass are, I know in no way indicative of any high level of click speed or anything, just passed for fun, without worrying about the score or the ranking, i couldn't survive long on 6 stars streams lol. )

I know it gotta be frustating, but you just can't give in to momentary fury. Have some patience bro.

Now I tell you a true story..
I am a returning Taiko player after almost 4 years hiatus and pretty much lost all my qualities (speed, stamina, consistency, reading, acc, tech, you name it). I've been on 2 months of rehab I can't even pass my 2017 scores I tell you. I scored 13 misses on MMzz's Revolution Deathsquad with 97.74% acc on 2017 now I fail with 88% acc so bad. That being said, through personal training program, I got better. consistency, tech, and reading is still bad. But now, I have more speed and stamina than ever.

I suggest you make your choice and don't be so conservative at this certain point, a change must be made so that you wouldn't need to rant here about this in the future. I see that there are good suggestions from the people up there. Trust me you would be more satisfied with the result. Whether or not you fulfill your expectations, no one knows. There will be no regrets, and maybe you would be grateful for even trying.

Stop thinking too much, move it, enjoy the game, be stupid. YOU CAN DO THIS... Also, I haven't given up yet :p someday I'll get a pass on 360 BPM.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Also although I sympathize with your disability, judging by your playgraph it's honestly amazing you can actually FC 4*. Because yeah sure you started playing osu four years ago, but you're extremely inactive. If you've got things going on with life then focus on that over this game (it's much more important anyhow). Getting good at the game takes constant practice, not 10-50 plays a month. I'm sorry but you simply haven't played the game consistently enough to get past your barrier.

Compare my graph to yours if you wanna see what decently consistent practice looks like . I don't say this to be egotistical, I'm not the best player either, but it'll give you a semi-decent idea of what your play habits need to be like to get better.

If you're serious about getting past that wall, I recommend learning some of the play styles these commenters suggested and grinding through the suck of it, because lord knows this game is not worth an injury. Tap X, feet pedals, yeah you're gonna be bad at it but anything worth doing is worth doing badly.

Thanks for your response. My disability is know as hemiparesis/hemiplegia (all my right side is affected). Yeah, i intend well to try somes "new techniques" that somes suggested me, to see if i found any (good ?) difference compared to now.
You story tell it well and i know it, to get good scores (or get them again), it requires a lot of practice, at this point i dont really know if i want to invest hours every day in this game because now, im not even sure to have the time to do it. for im trying to beat my 2022 scores and staying on 3-4 stars (the period i played the most and the best). I dont intend to completely give up, its sure but i dont know how the future will be for me. (good luck for your 360 BPM tho ;) )

response to mqwilliamscom :

Thanks. Sure, osu need a heck lot of time to get good, and considering that from 2020 to 2022 i was just playing full left mouse just to pass maps (not for ranks or scores), i can consider that i started in 2022 when i started using tablet. But its every time the same : i came confident, i play (a lot for me at least) like some weeks/a month and then, just accept that my disability is too strong and that i couldn't get good enough with left mouse (acc is horrible lol) and gave up some months. Maybe i could try "smooth" like somes games every day but not too much to let my hand "try to adapt gently".
I also intend to try some of the playstyles they recommended me tho to see the difference.
Yeah i can FC some 4* jumps maps without any streams/bursts or triples. Jumps maps are the one i can handle the best.
Sometimes i can pass burst or shorter streams in 4* but i cant control this yet, at least that show that sometimes with pure reflexes i can somewhat bypass a little bit my disability, could try to "master" that tho.
