As an osu! supporter i love the option to change the main menu's background to an image, but i would like to suggest to take it further. Why not incorperate the support of video files such as AVI and WMV to play while on the main menu.

Example:

Fixed.

The only problem would be looping and such like that. It'd make the video files kind of strange XD

I think they could apply some sort of fade in fade out effect.I think the main concern would be the load times, if a file is huge.

I almost thought this is a duplicate of t/98954 from the title alone! Maybe "Animated Menu BG" would be a more suitable name?

You only need to include last part of the URL (after =) when using Youtube tag, ie:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W02gqzO5OCY
should be quoted as

I think it's pretty hard, since the video it play won't relate to the music. (The music that randomly open every time you enter osu!)

A .gif file should be better, in this case.

Why not both, the basic idea is having more variety in what we can use for menu backgrounds, whether that be:
- Random selection from multiple backgrounds.
- Gifs.
- Videos.

For video files, I don't feel a fade and what not would be necessary to implement as an effect applied by the osu client.
Not all video files are going to be great to use as menu backgrounds (as with any other skin element) and some may require you to modify them yourself by adding fades and what not (or at least make it optionally applied for those that are incapable of editing video files themselves), it shouldn't be something applied to every video within osu because some video files that people would like to use may already incorporate their own such effects.
