like what do you like to map in general
i'm kind of curious to see what's the most popular mapping style here because there are many of them
i personally like to map generic with a few bursts that are 5-6 stars
I feel it's probably bad habit to try to think on how to categorize my very underdeveloped mapping by piggy backing in my favorite mappers like they're Pokemon, but I can't help myself so...
2011-2013 style mapping with a focus on clear structures and flow specific to the song. Lots of maps I feel have this like free form overly comfy feeling that makes it feel samey and lack identity imo, so I value feeling the flow in the song, like particularly smooth flow (deetz - Pastel Rain) or awkward flow (Kite's Don't Stop the Magia or Tenshi no Shitone) if it fits. For similar reasons, I strongly value unifying patterns throughout although much less 'visuals' or 'aesthetic'. Have a tendency to use distance snap, global and local symmetry, geometric shapes, changing direction, and 'revisiting old notes'. I want to communicate 'feeling' in the map and try hard to think of what recurring motifs in the map will bring that out. On the flip side, I'm not the biggest fan of mere song representation, I think for a map to be memorable it needs some special idea or concept to embellish it.
Well that's the goal anyway, as of the moment eh quite subpar.
Shiirn, Kite, Fycho, Frostmourne, ztrot, Saten, and Lasse (my first real influence) have probably been my biggest influences.
