I had never heard of these games, they seem nice. Might try them one day

I recommend starting with sora no kiseki (trails in the sky), while it has no Rean in it and it's quite old, it's a great game with a very cozy, low-stakes adventure, something you don't see in jrpgs often. And characters there are just as good.
